I think it's good she has the confidence to do that; however anyone thinks she looks (although grotesque is probably a bit extreme). Without wanting to put words in Flis' mouth, I think it reads fine and to re-word it she's saying that it doesn't matter what other people think of what she looks like and that it's great that she has the confidence to show off her body in that way. And that although she recognises that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, calling her grotesque is a bit much)
