I don't know, my Wii guffs like a trooper.

It's based around Test cricket, though, so I can see why they haven't released it in the Netherlands. You'd do better to get hold of Brian Lara 2005 as it's ODI-based.

I'm not even sure if Netherlands appear in the new game as a one-day team.

I remember all that. I just thought it was a PS2 we were playing it on.

Yes, but it was the PS1 game.

Yes, but you said you beat me at it on the PS1, which I'm pretty sure never happened.

Postal strikes are cunts, I'm meant to be shipping Gaywood's RB on to Craster today. Somebody tell me that it would be more sensible to wait until next week to send it so I don't feel bad about not doing it like I promised.

*stab*
Ok, Amazon have shipped this using RM Special Delivery. I know exactly how this is going to pan out: I'll be out tomorrow when delivery is attempted; then when I get home and see the card, it'll say wait 48 hours before collection. Which effectively means Monday.
48hrs? The longest I've ever been asked to wait is 6 hours.

I once had 48 hours written on a card that arrived on Friday morning. I thought it was a mistake, so turned up on the Saturday morning.

Nope.
Ah. Nottingham.
It's regularly 24 hours. Sometimes I get one with 1 hour on it, but it's moot as the depot is open from 4-6am, or something almost as daft.
Played this last night while a little intoxicated with someone else.

it is very hard 2 player, I managed to bowl my mate out who knows nothing about cricket all out for 5, but I could only manage 25/5
I think the 2 player online will be extremely tough and frustrating... probably a lot of lbws as full tosses will more than likely be a favourite

Best thing is to play it with someone you know and have a gentlemen's agreement to play properly.
Yes, I'd rather bowl a decent line and length and mix it up every now and again to get edges.

but saying that, we had a lot of catches in slip, which I havent had while playing on my own, and a fair few wickets as timing was well off.

That was one of the many game-breaking faults in the last one. Full tosses were far too hard to hit, and bowling those/yorkers all innings made it all but impossible for the opposition to do anything.

I hope this isn't the same, else a gentleman's agreement will have to be in place before each game, to ensure no dodgy tactics.
It might have been because we were drunk and not very good, as playing against the computer all you have to to is either clip a full toss over the leg side, or run down the wicket and smash it down the ground.

I think running down the wicket is the best plan to counteract full tosses, you're right.

It's fine. Just charge me 50% of my match fee for a slow over rate.
For you PC owners, this looks quite interesting.

Yeah that looks ace. In your opinion is Brian Lara 2007 worth getting for the £5.99 it is on steam. I do fancy a bit of cricketing action.

I shat out a better turd than BLIC07 this morning.

Despite its various and obvious glaring deficiencies I had a good laugh with it. Perhaps I should have been clearer - I'm not convinced it'll be better than BLC07 in any way that matters to me.

Other than being able to dive to try and prevent a tight run-out. I like that. Not sure I like it to the tune of 25 squid, though.

But yeah, wrong topic, sorry.

Right topic!

07 was all right for a thrash around with mates, but the AI was so geared towards T20/ODI (which was kind of understandable given the World Cup licence) that playing a Test match was impossible. As this game is based around a Test series, I'm hoping that the AI is geared towards that. If the shorter games suffer because of that, so be it.

Yeah, it's worth six Dimrills.
Oops should have waited for your reply but those posts answer my question. Thanks, I think I will give it a go.
Still no sign of a 'Game Dispatched' e-mail....Grrrr, it's better turn up tomorrow.

Or much sulking will ensue.
The TV advert for Ashes 2009 on Wii makes it look quite good. I'm not paying £110 for the same game twice though.

Yeah, I didn't want that mouthful of tea.
With the start of the 4th test today, and Ashes 2009 being released, this thread could get confusing. I therefore suggest the following methodology to ensure there is no confusion.

The 4th test, conversations about the real ashes series, and Flintoffs absence from the team should be in posts headed 'Cricket'.

Comments about BLIC 09 should be headed 'Bashing Myp around the park'. And thats not a metaphor.
Or we could have a separate thread?

Game talk here - let's restrict the cricket thread to actual real life cricket.
Done. Should I move all previous talk of the game there, or leave it here?

I'd say move.

I think you should purge the old thread.

We don't do deletings since The Great "Totally Changing Time" Time of 2008. I can either move it all here, or leave it where it is.
You're biased though, as you won't be playing it with us unless you buy a 360 today. I'd like to hear from some of the people who are getting it.

I meant move. Purge and Merge, if you will.
I actually agree, so let's do it.
Looking forward to the real test matches kicking off again today... anyone know if Freddy is fit to play?
I hate you so much.
Im going to buy this soon, will talk about it later :)
I actually did have a go on the demo last night, got a bit muddled about what buttons I was meant to press when though. Must be a faulty version of the game :'(
Huzzah, my copy has just popped through the door.
My brother said he wasn't going to buy it as he had heard it was rubbish. I put him straight.

:)

It might be rubbish, but I need a cricket game and it's got to be better than the last one.
I tried 07 again last night. You know what fucks me off? controlling swing with the bumpers and then having to catch with the triggers. I HATE holding the controller like that
Game: purchased £25 from asda
Live membership: Run out :(
First test match

8 overs

53/2

Not a great start
If you're playing as England then it's not bad at all. You're scoring way too quickly though - get some blocks in!
I did the basic batting tutorial first

Shows you how to defend, leave, attack all around the park.

Couldnt be bothered to do the others.

Already it's a lot harder to score runs than on the demo. Will be much grinding out innings I think.

Punished an over of short balls from Johnson but apart from that mainly singles
First innings.
All out just after lunch for 265

I should probably play it bit more defensively
