The Bin Thread

I have sympathy. Round here, it only paused for about a month, and some people were still looking a bit anxious, putting their stuffed bins out in hope (it was publicised, but some people never heard and never looked it up).

Far too much brown in yours, DavPaz. I need grass cuttings.

That's the white bags. They're pre-decomposed!

Whuuuuuut! I feel your pain. Will bonfire pollution ascend? I was smoked out of the garden a couple of times on the warm days. Local council have suggested that with a respiratory infection around, perhaps hold back on the bonfires, but still people were reluctant to put piles of detritus in a corner of their ample gardens. There again, given the scattering of people who kept their garden waste bins out, a fair number of people had no idea about guidance and suspension anyway.
I was soaking my cardboard in water with washing up liquid for about a few weeks, stripping and stirring it daily until it’s a pulpy mess and then mixing it with the garden waste and shoving it in the brown bin. Cardboard makes good compost.
The garden waste has been collected. I am content.

I will now refill the bin :D
I love a story with a happy ending.

Don't forget to fill your neighbours bins too! Do it now, before they notice that they've been collected. They'll just presume they haven't been picked up.

I'm now imagining sat as a demented moonshine brewer in Mississippi.

If they catch you, just deny everything and accuse them of being anti-fascist.
No idea what you are talking about.
The wheels have fallen off my green bin! The bin men didn't collect it!

What excitement!
Appropriate thread attire.
That’s rubbish.

Is there a conclusion to this thrilling drama?

I paid £12 to have the Bin Repair Man come around and out a new wheel on.

What I should have done was gotten a subsidised recycling bin for free, and used the wheels for parts.
What did you go for? Did you alter the stance?

Reckon you got a bargain for £12. Aftermarket parts are expensive
It's Scouseland... his next-door neighbour's bin is on bricks now.
Relatedly, the tyre has come off my green bin but the wheel remains intact so I'll have a go at violently kicking it back on tomorrow. Those happened at the same time as a completely unrelated me, running into the bins with the van incident.
I love you guys. That the bin thread has been going since 2009, and the first post is from Owen, and people still have bin related news to share :luv: It's like a little beex microcosm.

On topic, since I'm here; I've lived in Fife for five years now and there are a lot of positives but the bins have never quite lived up to the heady heights of the Ayrshire bins.

Glasgow (or my wee section of it in Battlefield at least) seems to be having some kind of recycling collection crisis, the private blue bins and the very few street ones are full to bursting all the time at the moment. It's not even just the 'everyone is working from home so more packages with recycleable packaging to dispose of' thing because it's been totally fine since lockdown started in March up until very recently. I've actually found myself roaming the streets with a bag of crushed cans and folded cardboard looking for somewhere to offload it. Eyes flicking briefly over the private blue bins that are accessible from the street, before grudgingly rejecting the idea. The world isn't so lawless. Not yet...

Weird fife purple bins. Angus has them too, weird.

Despite me not being arsed to fix my bin, the bin persons still emptied it which makes them better than Mali's
Here is a picture of our new house, with our new (well, new to us) bins out the front. The previous occupant unhelpfully left the bins full up, but did at least move them down to the kerbside ready for collection day, which to be fair was the day after we got the keys so really it's not a big deal.
The red bin is a bit small for my liking so I think I'll get a bigger one
I like the gravel trap at the bottom of your drive in case you drop the car on the chicane.

That, sir, is not a house. It is a mansion. It’s beautiful.

Enjoy your new bins (and mansion).
Average house size down under are huge because generally speaking, there's a lot of space to build.

Damn nice house though! Looks like Ramsey Street

My thoughts also. Erinsborough Castle!

It will be an exciting end to the kids skating and scooting adventures down the (steeper than it looks from that angle) drive

Aw thanks, and all i had to do to get a lovely set of bins like this was move away from all my friends and family and everything I knew for eleven years ?:|

We are very happy tho, it's a really nice house that we had admired from afar for a long time. It's not as big on the inside as you'd think, based on the outside view (but it's still pretty big to be fair).

Look at these numbers!
I approve of Sir Taxalot's creative and shameless use of the bins thread for his flexing. Nice gaff!
OMG. Let’s all move down under!

Why is Russia's so small? It's massive over there. Are they still just building grey apartment blocks or something?
Huddled together for warmth, reckon

This would work for me, I wholeheartedly support this idea

It was either here or the 'things I've bought ' thread.... I thought the bins would be funnier.

(I also feel a bit bad if it does come across like flexing... But I am genuinely really happy for this place)

It didn't but anyway there's nothing wrong with a bit of flexing. Chuffed for you, place looks amazing. We need more pics.

Totally this. It doesn’t come across as this at all, but god, flex away! It looks amazing and we are all nosey and want more pics (just move a bin into shot to keep it OT).
I bet your rubbish is really posh.
Caviar tins are recyclable, I reckon.
Dirty money, no doubt.

But what the truly decadent demand to know - are all the caviar except the first tiny spoonful compostable?
What we all really want to know, is how many holes does a caviar spoon have.
One for reference, one for lending
