You don't deserve me.
Funny!

I do however deserve a hangover and somehow missed one, which is nice.
I have bin news.

We have received the following missive RE: bins.

What else is fresh in the world of bin collection these days?

I've been waking up with the words 'rhizome cowboy' singing in my head for a while now, or just popping into my head whilst I'm busy doing something. Now I know why!
You've been Bamboozled!

They're using a firm of charted surveyors to send a letter re bins?!

They have a point around the car blocking, but the overflowing is a bit mean, my Council always take over flowing bins.

The week after Xmas they even take cardboard from presents etc if it's stacked against the bin.

My bin news is good so far, 1 collection of 95% bamboo removed without issue 2 weeks ago and another one on the street now, so looks like garden waste rules don't apply!
The Bradford Council.app now pushes bin notifications to my phone.

Living the dream.

I wish my council would do this :(
Just realised I dont know the bin day in my new house!

*stares into the abyss*
Oh no! That means you have to talk to the neighbours!
Nah, there'll be a website. There must be.
If you've moved to Birmingham, bin day is the twelfth of never.
I'd recommend Googling it but you'll probably only end up back in this thread.
Bins to stay in Oxford City Centre!

A PROPOSAL to remove bins from the city centre to let people ‘appreciate the problem of litter’ has been scrapped.

Wonder if I can get an arts grant for that instead.

Heh.

Sorry to leave you all hanging!

Turns out it was the same day as the collection at my old house, Monday.

BUT! Folks here don't put their bins out the night before, they do it in the morning.

AND! Some people hardly ever fill their bins, so it's now like I have extra half bins! :metul:

Toy with them by putting the wrong bin out one night.
Lots of local Facebook noise this week, the council have put the price of collecting brown bins (Garden Waste) from £40 to £50 a year

A 25% increase, its a bit of a long-running issue for people as 5 years ago you just bought the bin for £30 and they collected it
We've had our official notification that collections are going fortnightly; the original bumph said 'don't worry you'll get bins to contain smells and stop animals' with small print at the end '...unless you're identified as a location we can't get a bin van down.'

Ruh-roh.

Obviously our letter decides our lane in the countryside is one of those. The bags already get torn up on bin night as people leave them out for the early collection, so I can imagine that leaving things to collect and rot an extra week will improve that immensely.

Hilariously it also says we're only allowed to put up to 4 bags out every fortnight, which is a new restriction for some (but not us, as a reasonably careful couple) - there are some big houses and families (and/or wasteful sorts) round and about.
I got here as fast as I can. What's going on?

BIN COLLECTIONS???!!!

CANCELLED???!!!

>:( >:( >:(

There will be blood (and bins disgorging spent nappies and banana skins onto streets).
Since separating out all of the soft plastic waste, our 'general waste' has dropped in volume dramatically. Come bin day, our red-bin is often less than half full; far more of a reduction than I was expecting. It's staggering actually how much waste is just soft plastic wrappers and packaging.

As a result, we can now elect to have a smaller bin, saving a bit on council rates :D
Also, the other morning there was a birds ripped-off head, just all casual like on top of me green (garden waste) bin:
Have you pissed off the local cat mafia or what?
The local cat mafia is always pissed off.
With one cat (down from two) and two dogs I think it's somewhat inevitable that I am caught in the middle of turf-wars.
That’s more likely to be crows or a member of the corvid family. They’re absolute terrors for stealing young during the breeding season
The bins are under some big trees, so yes probably straight outta the nest and plop onto the top of the bin. I'll take some pictures of the bins from further away so you can all get a better appreciation of their position.
That would be very helpful.

Please don’t keep us waiting too long, though.
Exciting* recycling bin drama!

I'd written my house number and street on the side of my recycling boxes just because when they're emptied, they're rarely put back in the right place and I didn't want someone thinking I was nicking theirs. Except recently, someone took mine instead. I figured they'd ask to swap it back once they realised they had mine, but nope. So I just grabbed another one that had been left in the street.

This morning I went to bring my emptied ones in and I saw next door had mine but they'd but a big '8' sticker over the 6, but you could still see my handwritten street name. Not overly subtle.

*Not exciting
Holy shit your neighbours are dicks
I'd take the bin back and slap the number 8 sticker AND a birds head on the shittest bin on the street.

At least they've stopped vacuuming at 7:30am every day (or I've learned to tune it out)

I'm not a monster. Birds heads would go on the non-recyclables bin.

Get a permanent marker and scribble over part of the eight to turn it into a six. And then draw a birds head on it.
Or just draw massive cocks (penises, not cockerels) on all sides of the box. Ain't nobody gonna want that outside their house.
I put my bin out for our regular collection today. My neighbours did not. I suspect I am out of the loop.

I saw the bin lorry stop outside my house today. No bins were out and our regular day is Friday!

To try to prevent this kind of disgraceful behaviour in Manchester, our bins now come with proper printed vynil stickers with our street name and house number on them.

Bins! Trees! Power lines!
Bin outrage all over the local Facebook page for the last couple of months

The annual cost of a brown (garden waste) bin has risen from £40 to £50 a 20% increase

As a percentage, its a piss take increase, but it's £10 more for them to take my garden stuff away, the other choice is to buy small crap waste bags @£1 each

I just paid... for 2 bins I might add :p

My defense is the 2nd child who never sleeps at night
