Merzbow - tomorrow, Leicester
Reply
I only just heard about this: Merzbow and Dirty Electronics Ensemble, at De Montford Uni, tomorrow night. Free entry. Anyone coming?
Tempting, but I don't think I should go to Leicester on a school night.
I don't think I could get there from Telford in time (and if so, prob couldn't get back in time), and it's the wrong side of payday. Suckage :(

Same here but replace Telford with London.

To be honest all I've heard of Merzbow, is from short clips on Youtube. Noise and Drone, I've found are something I like in small doses.

I would be up for this. Got anymore details?
Some details, yesterday.

I'm proper, proper looking forward to it, it's been a strange day and finding out about this encheered me greatly.
Last time I saw Merzbow was when he was doing a signing in Leeds. I took my Merzbook but he had oddly broken down on the M1 so we must have passed him on the way up. He still got to the gig. It was incredible. Amazing how a man with two laptops can captivate a crowd for fourty minutes and barely move.
See, I'm more of a Masonna fan; I like my noise visual as well as loud. But I'm not passing up an opportunity to se Dirty Electronics Ensemble for free...
Me too. And as you rightly pointed out free is very cheap.
Free?! Fucking hell, gutted. Will have to settle for Boris next Monday.

Will always remember the time I heard Masonna on radio 1.
Are you sure you didn't have the radio between stations?
Blimey, that was a bit good. And I shook Masami Akita's hand, and everything!
I know yer only kidding, Steve, but I shall expound nonetheless. I think it was a Coldcut set (or maybe Meat Beat Manifesto) (a quick search tells me Coldcut, 17/02/1999), and Peely was obviously MCing (not in the 'toasting over a JPN noise set' sense, sadly). Masonna opened, we had a quiet bit of Peel chatting and he suddenly gave way to the 'Onna.

It was fantastic.

Continue to never wash it again!

Also: home in Notts by 10:30? Cripes...
It started at 7:30.

It was one of the best noise sets I've ever seen, there were 26 people noising it up in noiseland, in a university drama studio room thing. Fucking insane.
