I have no interest in seeing it at all and haven’t seen the original, but how blinking beautiful does Jennifer Connelly look? How has she possibly just been refining over and over, finding some new kind of perfect since 1986?

I haven't watched the original since I was a child so no idea how it's aged, but I feel like it's quite possibly aged brilliantly. A perfect prism of a point in time. But will need to re watch, if permitted, before confirming.
Top Gun was poop. The new Top Gun will probably be poop also

Said the wrongest person ever. I have my IMAX tickets booked.
Jackass 4.5 has lots, and I mean LOTS of willies and bums on show.

It was reasonably entertaining. I have not yet seen 'Jackass Forever' as it's still a buy/rent option, yet the 4.5 version was 'free' on Netflix.
Aren’t those guys all in their 50s now?
Yes pretty much (maybe some are 40s still), and time has certainly taken it's toll on some of them, unsurprisingly really.

It's still funny to me though, and the new folk they've brought in seem pretty cool so there's clearly some life left in it still.
I was never a Jackass fan - too po-faced at that age - but this article would swing it for me, if it didn't seem a bit daft to start watching. At any rate, this is a lovely profile of Johnny Knoxville (with apologies to anyone who might have posted it here already, that may well be where I got it from):

It’s weird, because I’ve noticed this before some years ago and a few times since, and always forget until I notice it again, but Johnny Knoxville has got the hands of a 90 year old.

But yes, it’s a nice profile piece.

Is anyone excited about top gun? I am excited about top gun. Mrs Fop is unwilling for us to take the kids to see it.

Eh, I guess.

I'm seeing it at one minute past midnight this evening (well, tomorrow morning) at an iMax two hours away, as that's the earliest showing it's possible to get in the UK.

Does that count?
I really have to watch Top Gun again. I remember it being a bad film. But everyone else seems to bum it. So maybe I'm wrong

It's a terrible film. It's also an excellent film.

I'd imagine you're goose/maverick to his goose/maverick (delete per alpha-Beex rulez.)
He's the Johnson to my Viper.
I do like the new trailer for Thor : Love and Thunder

I watched it earlier. I fear it shows too much

Nah that was pixelated out ;-)

It had one job, and it knocked out of the park.
I’ve got to wait till Friday evening. I’m more than a little excited.

For that reason, I will not watch the trailer.

Indeed it is.

You know who else has really old hands? Kylie Minogue
But Kylie has had a little bit of work done so you can imagine that they’d seem to age slightly differently to her face, but I think Knoxville’s hands and face are about the same age as each other.

I'm seeing it again on Sunday.
I'm seeing it again Monday
It’s Top Gun Tuesday for me. I’ve already told my mate if it’s good we’re going to see it again in 4DX.
Do I need to watch the first one again, so i keep on top of the plot?

You need to watch the first one again because Top Gun

There are references for sure, and it is a direct sequel so it won't hurt.

Lol
I'm annoyed there isn't a gif yet of Miles Teller shrugging.
Wilson The Volleyball has his own entry on IMDB. He is also listed as an uncredited performer in the original Top Gun cast: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092099/fullcredits

Damn straight. I did not expect it to be so good from start to finish.

Hit me right in the feels a few times too.

Yup, that's the one.
Why did I think that Tom Skerritt had died? I vaguely remember hearing about him dying a couple of years back, but apparently he's still very much kicking.
Tom Cruise is older in TG:M than Tom Skerritt was in Top Gun.
Top Gun Tuesday baby!

That made me laugh out loud.
A week later than planned, Top Gun was amazing.
How are you feeling now?

We were both pretty much back to normal by Monday. Helen couldn’t go back to work till today though, as still testing positive.

Oh, that’s good that you both shook it off quickly. :luv:
Watched Chip n Dale yesterday. An absolute joy. A latter-day Who Framed Roger Rabbit/Toonstruck, exploring what happens to cartoon characters when their popularity wanes. Packed full of references, standout characters include the uncanny 3D models from films like Polar Express, and Ugly Sonic (the all too human version of Sonic that was replaced after backlash in the new movies -- here played with inimitable rage by I Think You Should Leave's Tim Robinson).
