Aldershot return to the league 16 years after being closed down.

A great achievement from a team who had to start in the Ryman Third Division when they reformed.
Yay! Our local boys Farnborough are also looking likely to get promoted this season, so here's hoping they can claw their way back to the Conference (somehow dragging Fleet Town in tow).

Farnborough have been in freefall every since the FA cup fiasco. I'm not even sure where they are now. About 3 leagues beneath the conference I think which makes them only slightly better off than Aldershot were when they went into administration.

Aldershot being back in the league is also going to hit them as the casual fans are now even more likely to wander down to the Recreation Ground being only 3 miles away and having some bigger footballing sides visiting.

Nice article on the BBC site on Aldershots return here:

They went under and got relegated several leagues. They're currently top of the Southern League Division One South & West, along with my town's team, Fleet Town.

Still, after the nasty way in which the Shots were squished out of existence last time, it's good to see them back in league football. It also gives the area something to be happy about, what with Reading getting the living shit kicked out of it for this entire football season.

There's not a bad word to be said about Aldershot on the 606 forums either. In fact some of the nicest comments are coming from the Cardiff supporters. Cardiff away was the last game the original Aldershot team played in 1992 and there appears to be quite a few Cardiff supporters who remember that game.
