Why hasn't Amazon made their MP3 store available in the UK?

Or, indeed, anywhere outside bloody America?

We sure could do with a powerful alternative to iTunes, especially in the recent light of Apple completely massacring the Hymn Project site lately, to the effect that myFairTunes7, QTFairUse6 and everything else that was useful in eliminating the DRM is no longer available, and development on all of them quite possibly killed off forever too.

Not that I use stores often, but there may be the case where I want some obscure B-side to a single that I can't find on, say, Soulseek.
Try Play's Download store, which sells MP3s and is generally quite like Amazon's.
You perhaps shouldn't uniquely blame Amazon - getting permission to sell MP3's is stupidly hard in this country.
