Can you guess which song "borrowed" from this song before you get to the 75 second mark?

I am watching an awful lot of this wave called Pipeline of late. The professionals make it look doable.
Appropriate title for this week's events.

Wait, what, microwaving bacon?!?!?!? (yes I'm catching up)

I must try this, but it sounds a little like witchcraft. We also have an airfryer.

I'm really enjoying Justin Hawkins Rides Again on youtube. He's so knowledgeable and passionate about music, and he's charming too. Since getting his teeth straightened a little, I think he's quite dapper looking too.
@MrDave would say something different about him.
It's me... on YouTube!

ZOMG!

And I was so here for the cheap joke, then you headed it off right at the beginning. A pair of very warm and calming presences. When I started the video you even calmed the dog down.
Amazing!

Really enjoyed that. Good luck finding the Game Gear version!
Oh sweet. I'll have to watch it tomorrow now, but bloody hell that's amazing :)
Well, I fell better about trying to collect all the versions on the Aliens boxsets now.
That was a throughly enjoyable watch :)
I assume you saw in the comments that the fire back 3DO version is online for sale? £45 it looks like, which must be cheap for a 91% game!

I didn't as it happens however, someone alerted me via Twitter so thanks Trooper!

I didn't play The Outer Wilds because I wasn't sure it'd be my jam, but this video makes it sound Extremely My Jam, and annoyingly I've spoiled it for myself completely now. Oh well.
Is anyone else having an issue with the youTube website (desktop) where when you click on the three lines, and the pop up area is blank? I'm talking about the bit where you normally see: subscriptions, home, watch later, discover, etc

Or is that just me?
Thus:

Ooh yes, blank (Mac, Safari) for me, too. Though I can't really call it an issue given I've never used it before.
The YouTube Xbox app was doing the same, and would stop videos cast from my phone halfway through to say there was no internet.

When it eventually came back I was signed out, and signing in using the webpage said the app had exceeded the rate limit for New users so I guess that means it was pretty widespread!
it's fixed for me now

Ugandan Cinema - CGI at its finest. Taken from Uganda's first action film....Who Killed Captain Alex...
the full film if anyone's interested (spoiler, it's great)

I especially enjoy the constant narration over the gun fights MAFIA MAFIA MAFIA!
Not really about this specific video, but the guy is after help filming some up coming insane attempt to dribble a football along the footpath next to Hadrian's Wall, and I was wondering if anyone here would be interested (sounds like it will be full on hard work, but he mentions getting paid - he has a million subscribers so I am sure he can pay a sensible amount)

I'm sort of curious, and I'd sort of be up for it, but 16 minutes of video to wade through to get to details? And it's unlikely I'll be around even if I did find out exactly when he thinks it might happen.

He talks about doing it during July, and about being flexible as it's weather dependant and he wants to do it when it is not too hot.

Thanks! If it slips to August, then maybe I'll be up there to kick a ball a bit.
Thanks for the mention Malc! I'm pretty busy in July as it is but it can't hurt to see what he has to say. I'll take a look later on.
With so much to be gloomy about at the moment, seeing so much joy in in Geoff Marshall's video on yesterday's opening of the Elizabeth Line (purple train) is really refreshing and uplifting.

Need to find an excuse to ride it someday!

Bit late to this party, but yeah, it's brilliant.
Expedition Theme Park (which has an ace logo) has just put out a video on the history of another Orlando Park, the defunct Holy Land Experience. He doesn't take the piss out of the concept, mainly because the footage of it is enough to tell me that this is somewhere I wouldn't want to go, but the story of its rise and fall covers some interesting controversies, especially regarding tax and protests from local Jewish groups that it's trying to convert them. Also, impressive that Jesus himself wound up playing five a day in Florida.

Unexpected laugh-out-loud moment:

Speaking of religious experiences, the same channel also put out a recent one on the Granada Studios Tour, which I was dragged to as a kid because my mum wanted to walk on the holy cobbles (I was more interested in the mock House of Commons and Downing Street door).

I look forward to watching that video this evening. I remember stopping off at Granada Studios to break up the journey as we were heading to Scotland on holiday. I don't remember much about it though, other than how things like road signs on Coronation Street were scaled differently to real life ones so that they looked 'normal' through whatever the camera lens does (I think the signs and stuff were smaller than real ones, as the camera makes them look bigger, but it's quite possible it was the other way round).
No Pun Included: Blood on the Clocktower and the History of Mafia and Werewolf

It's one of those moments in my life I remember vividly. A dark, wet night in early January 2001. A sparsely furnished meeting room in the basement of some college. Someone saying to me, "it's time to learn the game".

We gather in a circle and the rules are explained: I am not the only new player. What sounded like a tedious circle game of the sort I'd outgrown at Cubs, wasn't. It was something else. Something different. Hidden roles. Lying. Murder. Death.

We played several rounds that night. Several more in the weeks that followed. Then at every night away, or any time there were sufficient people and a deck of cards to hand, we'd play it, introducing more and more people to the game and its lore. We would discuss tactics, revisit old games, or laugh at our long repertoire of mafia-related injokes. My old hiking pal Sam was obviously always the mafia, and if he wasn't we'd kill him off in the first round just to make sure. You can't argue with the probabilities, after all (sorry Sam).

I had never played a game like "Mafia" before. The closest thing I've come to those feelings since was the first time we teared up a card in Pandemic: Legacy. It opened up a world of new possibilities for what games could be.

I'll admit I'm quite bored of the original game now. Its flaws are more evident now than in the those heady days, and with so many newer games that take the mechanics and improve them, I'd rather play them. With a group no larger than 12 you can just about have a good time, especially if there are new initiates, but even then I think I'd stick to the One Night variants. More than 12 and the gruop elements become less controllable and the elimination part gets pretty tedious quickly. For a bigger group, you're much better off with 2 Rooms and a Boom, being able to squeeze in at least three full games in the time it takes Mafia whittle down from 20 suspects to three.

NPI's hour long look at the origins and psychology of the game is fascinating, ending with a look at the latest big box variant designed to correct some of the genre's issues. Whilst there's probably too much reading of lengthy captions on screen, and a bit of handwaving over the mysterious nature of the game's creator, this is the deep dive that really provides the background and detail I've been after that explains so much about why this game is so dam addictive.

It's good to revisit the classics from time to time, and this video gave me the chance to look back on my years of Mafia with fondness, it being the granddaddy of much that has followed.
Technology Connections remains one of the most interesting and informative channels I watch. He totally transformed how I use my dishwasher, for example.

After watching the latest video, on the differences between ionising and photoelectric smoke alarms, I've just ordered some of the latter type to replace my aging radioactive ones. Well worth half an hour of your time, before testing your existing devices.
I've learned a lot about heatpumps from him too. And VHS/betamax. A very entertaining guy.
A really thoughtful video from Geoff Marshall about getting away to clear your head, and how we all need to find that balance between trying to recreate the past and the need to create new memories.

A surprisingly moving travelogue, and well worth your time. It also reminded me how great REM can be, and how stunning part of the US is.
If only he was familiar with the concept of the middle 8.
If only he was familiar with the concepts of tune, timbre, timing, production...

Well .... yes .... but one thing at a time, he has a long way to go musically. And then he needs some work on the cinematography. But he DOES have some wicked dance moves.
We were discussing the Great Blobby One last night, so here's a look at his direct-to-video specials to haunt your dreams.
Secrets of the Windows Calculator from ThioJoe.

13 minutes that could change your life for the better!
I know it's a good thing that people can like what they like and do what they like but NO.

On the other hand OBJECTION!

This is barely-arranged noise with disturbing, amateurish visuals and I love it to bits
