[edit] That's since I got a new phone in September

Not commuting to work has ruined my podcast listening.

Yeah I've cancelled my audible subscription. The only time I listen to audiobooks now is when I'm hanging out the washing or making the bed.

Not complaining though, rather this than commuting.
Oh shit. I forgot about Audible. Reckon I've got at least 5 credits sittings in my account
Yeah, I've built up some credits. I still listen when running but no lunchtime walks or drives to work any more. You can still use them when you cancel right?
Just went to cancel and settled on 90 day pause instead. They'll also offer you half price for 3 months.
Yeah, just done the same thing.

That is what I am on. AS my credits were stacking up..

So is working from home going to be a permanent thing Grim..?

No, but it's going to last for some time yet.
Jason Scott Talks His Way Out Of It

(random recent episode I remember as being especially good)
Man the new Alan Partridge "podcast" has had me in stitches.
It's a masterpiece. Think it's even better than Nomad.
I am on the second season of 13 Mins to the Moon by the BBC.. Season one was about the Moon landing. Season two is about Apollo 13.

And of course it's going to take MONTHS for me to rid my brain of the theme.
I can’t remember if I posted this before, or maybe someone else has, but 99% Invisible is the most amazing podcast I have ever listened to.

You could start with any episode. They are eclectic and amazing, but this is an amusing one to kick you off:

Aaaaalan Partridge from the Oasthouse, Alan Partridge from the Oasthouse, from the Oasthouse.

He had some fun singing that.
Had to stop running listening to this yesterday when he was going on about Anton du Beke's pizazz all over the seat of an Astra.
What's the new Alan Partridge podcast called? I think it sounds like something I'd like to listen to.
From the Oasthouse. But it's not actually a podacast, it's an audiobook on Audible.
Ah cool, that makes sense. Thanks!

awesome, thank you! Been looking for a new podcast to start running to.
Bit of dust in my eye after tonight's episode of the Archers.
I don't know where he sits in the wrestling pantheon, but Colt Cobana is on the latest Comedian's Comedian podcast, which makes for an different and interesting take on the usual talk about performance, writing, attitude to audience and craft and so on.

Tonight's was harrowing. Superb piece of drama.
For someone that's never knowingly listened to The Archers, what's happening?
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Alice is pregnant and seriously alcoholic. She confessed this to Chris, her husband, yesterday. Tonight's episode just featured the two of them. Alice started getting withdrawal symptoms whilst Chris tried his best to both calm her down and stop her getting any more booze. Cue lots of screaming, threats, and emotions

At least it's not Lynda's Christmas show.
That was tonight's. Last week, which got me teary:

on his 18th birthday, Ruari sat and listened to a CD made 14 years ago by his dying birth mother whilst sitting next to his stepmum who had been cheated on all those years ago
I never got over what happened to John, stopped listening after that.
This podcast on electrification in Ireland is a surprisingly illuminating piece of social history.

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
RE: The Archers. I shall never forgive the script writers for murdering Nigel...just because they could. If they had taken Linda as well then Broadcasting House would be a pile of rubble now!

...anyways. The final series of the Lovecraft Investigations has just been released on the BBC, this time covering The Shadow Over Innsmouth (after the previous series focussed on The Case of Charles Dexter Ward and The Whisperer in Darkness). Brilliant stuff, done in the format of a real life / mystery / thriller ala Serial, bringing together real events and conspiracy theories with the Mythos. This series throws in Count de St Germain, Theosophy, Occult Nazis and even the Discordians into the mix. Shame that it's come to an end (although with a tease that they could do some more).

Whilst I'm waiting for the US inauguration, I might as well mention a fascinating podcast from the Rothermere American Institute called The Last Best Hope. The most recent episode discusses whether the presidency was created as an elected king. It's hosted by Prof Adam Smith, current head of the centre and who also did the Radio 4 Empire of Liberty series a few years ago.
Did we get a shout out?
First one is a cracker, BTW.
I'm a bit late to The Framley Examiner, but to go with the web laughs, there's a podcast (just one): https://soundcloud.com/framley/framley-examiner-podcast. Worth half an hour of your time.
Will definitely have to check that out. The Framley Examiner is responsible for the single funniest thing I've ever read on the Internet.

The full sequence of personal ads on the right-hand column under "Men seeking men" on this page.
Yeah okay, that was brilliant.
The whole page is, to be honest

My expectations were subverted hence the humour arose.

"Life is a Cabaret". Proper Minelli vibe
.

I was in pieces.
If you like true crime, the BBCs Bad People is good. I love Julia's voice and I want to go and see Sofia live.
This is really good. The story of the Brixton Riots.

As a white middle class child nowhere near London at the time, there’s a lot more to it than the view you got from the news.
Looks interesting, I'm downloading it now.
This week's episode of MDWAP is a triumphant return to form after several episodes of feeling it's been running out of steam. So much to unpack...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Why did Belinda think wearing her school uniform behind the bike sheds was in anyway appropriate?
Why did she agree to a tattoo as an 18th birthday present, and not even question or have any say in the design?
Why was her mother not at all concerned about Belinda's reported death in the outback?
Clint. Seriously, why?
Why do I ask these questions expecting any form of plausible answer from the text?

Superb stuff.
