3 hours - presumably Hearthly has already asked if you want the i30N as part-ex?

Has it? I can't find anything about it.
Thing I like about the i30.

It scrolls the song title when the title contains more characters than it can show on screen at once.

I basically listen to trance all the time off a 128GB USB key, and some of the tracks have stupidly long titles like:

Liberation (Temptation - Fly Like An Eagle) - Matt Darey pres. Mash-Up feat. Marcella Woods

So if a track comes on that I really like, and it's got a title like the one above, good luck on easily seeing which of the 3,571,845 remixes it is you're listening to.

The Citroen C6 I had scrolled the song title, but only once, so if the title is missed on the first scroll, you're stuffed. The i30 shows what it can, then after a brief pause scrolls it right around, then after a brief pause, scrolls it again.

Off the top of my head all other cars just show what they can, and that's it. Game Over.

It's only a small thing, but a nice little quality of life touch.
Our Focus does that, so I'm confused as to why yours didn't.

[edit] So does my Puma ;)
My Octavia does that too.

Does your Focus have SYNC?

It's such a basic thing it's always amazed me over the years that scrolling the title isn't the standard behaviour.

Aftermarket head units usually do scrolling (I've had a few of those over the years), but I've found factory fits to be very poor when it comes to scrolling.
My golf does that...

My £19 Pioneer head unit I got off eBay does that. And has done so for two years already.
Didn’t the £500+ system you popped in your Merc do that?!

SYNC 3, I think.
I think mine was SYNC 2. It definitely didn't scroll, anyway.

No it was really quite limited. I did an unnecessarily detailed write up at the time. It very much felt constrained by the fact it was clearly a hack on top of the Merc 'OS' if you will.

Ahhh yes here it is, the Dension seemed to work as a sort of 'emulated CD changer', which came with all sorts of shit limitations.

I saw an i30N on the road the other day, it looked smart in the flesh. Still not sure on the pale blue colour tho

The fastback is definitely far better looking from behind.
Anyone driving around with a Bluetooth debugging module plugged in all the time? Turns out if you are, there’s a lot less security than you’d want stopping a passerby remotely detonating your airbags...!

Why would you have that plugged in all the time

There are apps that use them to show engine telemetry
Some of the usage based insurance products require you to have a dongle plugged into your port, that calls home.

DASHCAM FITTED!

It doesn't work properly.

What it's supposed to do is record 120 second clips back-to-back ad infinitum, and every time it fills up the MicroSD card it returns to the start and starts overwriting the oldest ones.

What it's actually doing is sort of 'resetting' itself every so often, seemingly at random after 45 seconds or 60 seconds or 90 seconds or whatever.

For some reason it misbehaved terribly on the way to work this morning, you can see all the little tiddly files when it simply stopped recording and then started again, which also leaves a gap of about 5-6 seconds whilst it resets and starts recording again.

However on the way home it was mostly OK, all the files of about 343MB are where it worked properly and rolled over cleanly into the next one, but it still crapped out a couple of times.

It has motion sensor activation which stops the recording after 5 seconds if no movement is detected, and then starts again when movement is detected, which is what happened for the last two clips, which is fine, but for all the crap outs it did this morning I was driving over the mountain in heavy rain, so no way it wasn't detecting movement.

It's clearly not working properly, so I'll pop back down to the place where it was fitted. I've checked the Blaukpunkt website and there are no software updates for it, and I've gone through all the various settings and nothing in there explains what it's doing.

The fitting itself is a really nice job though, he's mounted it to the left of the rear view mirror/sensor cluster, and there's a really short wire run that disappears into the roof panel out of sight - the guy is well known here for doing splendidly tidy wiring jobs.

Oh yes and EXCITING FOOTAGE. Features overtaking and engine noise.

Picks up a bit, doesn't it?
That was a strangely relaxing watch.

Cor, the grafix in this new Forza game are shit.
DASHCAM REPLACE.

Rang up the Auto Electrical place and explained the situation with the dashcam, chap said to go back and he'd give me a new one. Went back, chap gave me a new one. Works fine.

It recorded perfectly on a 35 minute drive home, segmenting everything into 2 minute clips with no gap between them.

STORY ENDS.
See this is what it should look like. COMPARE AND CONTRAST with above.

Here is today's drive home, lots of trance.

OVERTAKING is at 15m42s and 18m48s. Didn't get much over 100mph though.

Bit of Cavey Car Porn for you, obviously this doesn't quite have the cachet of a premium Korean sports car but it's pretty close.

He's replaced the GT4 with this, our sources say it's a 991.2 GT3 Clubsport manual, with ceramic brakes, sports exhaust, roll cage and carbon buckets off the 918 Spyder. It has a 4.0 flat-six engine straight out of the RSR racetrack-only racer, which is naturally aspirated, makes 500bhp and revs to a 9000RPM redline.

It cost around 650% more than my car, but it doesn't have a heated steering wheel, so on balance I would say the i30N is a better car. Sorry Cavey, but them's the rules.

Why are you posting about Cavey's car?
I thought he didn’t like 911s

Well it's objectively just a very nice car to look at, and Cavey was an active member here for many years, and we're in the car thread :)

Because it’s more interesting than a Hyundai.
His hands will get cold in winter though, then I'll have the last laugh.

Tell Cavey to bloody we'll come here himself.

But does it have TPMS?
More importanty, does the marketting guff say it has TPMS?
I don’t care about Cavey’s new car but want to know what he thinks of the Conservatives currently.
I like Cavey's new car but don't want to know what he thinks about the conservative party.
Tell him it's too light and the engine fell over.
Roll cage is a good shout.

Must be wide needing two parking spots.
Serviced my Leon today and stupidly poured the full 5ltr bottle of oil in when it only takes 4ltrs

So emptied the lot and did it again, does that count as a flush? :D

Air and cabin filters were pretty blocked with leaves, bugs and plenty of that Sahara sand at bottom of air filter housing too so felt good to swap out as usually there’s not that much shite collected. Also picked and hoovered out the leaves that were in the way of the side mounted inter cooler... don’t think I’d looked in there before.

Gave the old girl a good clean afterwards too.
My superb's been performing poorly and also developed a rattle that sounded like dodgy diverter valve so I booked it in.

They found one of the back boxes full of stones and mud. What the fuck?!

Now not only does it not rattle but the performance and gear change weirdnesses are all back to normal, and it makes lovely little turbo noises now. So I assume there's been significant exhaust back pressure confusing all the computers.

I haven't reversed into anything like that so can only assume someone's done it on purpose?
The main thing I've learned here is that Hearthly has terrible taste in music and is living in the 90s.
£327 after the "grang bang bang bang grkshhhhhh" noises,a lorry is coming to take us all home. Inc. Subaru
No breakdown cover?

There are a lot of tracks in there that wouldn't be in a personally curated collection, it's basically just my entire trance collection so all the CDs I bought back in the day and about 400 hours that I recorded off TRANCE.FM back when it still existed. It's all on a 128GB USB key and I let it loop around endlessly, as it's impossible not to be in the mood for trance so it takes all of the decision making difficulty out of choosing what music to have on.

There are a few crappy tracks in there though, and Robert Miles's 'Children' gets a bit tiresome as that turned up on every fucking album back in the day.
That is a classic tune, you tasteless wonder.
I don't think I've ever been in the mood for trance.
