Oh my.
That big old thing was made in 1951, too.
EXCITING ROVER UPDATE! I haven't used it for over 6 weeks.
Before I put it on eBay, does anyone want the Exciting Rover? It has Mot until May. Done about 75k miles. It goes and stops, but needs to charge battery if it stands for more than a week. You will have to collect it. Condition is "OK" for a 14 year old car but some scratches in panels where I dragged wheelie bins past them and some rust on arches. I have one key.
Your chance to own a piece of Mali-history!

Not interested but curious how much you are hoping to get for it.

eBay with no reserve and £100 starting price. You'll probably get more than you expected.
Car shelf 5000000 complete.
Is that a Scimitar?

This would appear to be the answer for Mali's Exciting Rover.

Not sure the owners would really want the undercarriage of their Land Rover sullied in that fashion.

Tis indeed. An Se5a which I'm sure we can all agree is peak scimitar.

Not me, though I did get a rapid reply to my question.
The amount of oil the 520i burns is getting annoying now, so the obvious thing to do is to spend 2 grand on a 2003 745i sight unseen in Edinburgh, right?
Yeah, I thought so too, so that's my Saturday taken up.
A plan with no apparent drawbacks whatsoever.

Please do report back on how it works out.

On the plus side, at least if the notoriously flaky coolant pipe in the engine is fucked, that long a drive is likely to show it quite quickly ;)
Coolant pipe was done this year!

I think I've reached my level of incompetence now. Happy to stay at Level 2.
