It would affect the NCAP score if safety features can be disabled permanently.

It may be possible to code it out with the right software

If it comes back next start probably not. Not only NCAP though - if you're in an accident and the computer has noted you've disabled safety features without good reason (maybe even with), you might have an insurance problem.

Even auto stop-start that behaves the same, merely emissions not safety, can't be coded out on VAGs - it has to be worked around by telling it to require at least 12V from the battery.
I'll enable voice control and have a word with it.
Just picked it up. It is really smart.
Excellent. TSI, diesel or Hybrid?

Hybrid, It is a fab car... i need to get out in it
A fine looking thing. I'm honestly a bit surprised but I still really like that colour now that you've shown me it again after a few days. Not like Hangover Bile Puke or whatever it is @dr Zoidberg always goes on about.

FTFY.
@gazChap you are right. Heated steering wheels are awesome
Ugh, no, they're horrible. My wife likes them and the stupid VW "remembers" the setting you had it on, so they come on when I drive it :(
I've really liked mine this last week!

What is it you don't like about them @grim...?
Why do I want a hot steering wheel?! It's weird and I don't like it. It's rubbish. See also heated seats.
Mrs Fop suffers from raynaud's and she was emphatic our current car (Renault Zoe) had the winter pack. And it is a lovely thing on a cold day.

However, it now looks like we're trading the car in for an ancient Toyota Alphard campervan conversion, so she's now hunting heated steering wheel covers online. Which feels like a step too far. Basically an electric blanket on your steering wheel.
Steering wheel covers always seem risky to me. Don't you have a risk of turning the cover but not the wheel itself?
Yes, but it's only a small risk, like a 10% chance or something.
So only do 9 corners on a journey, got it.
String-backed driving gloves: Heat and extra purchase on the wheel. Jurassic Park.
Heated seats are great, love them.

I have not experienced cooled seats, not heated/cooled steering wheels.
On the superb, the wheel and seat on minimum don't get above "I've have been holding/sitting in this long enough that it has warmed up". I'll unconsciously occasionally take my left hand off the wheel and not long after think "why is my hand cold?!". Couldn't recommend it more

On the kodiaq, on minimum the wheel on gets slightly uncomfortably warm and the seat makes you think that not only have you pissed yourself... Like, REALLY pissed yourself... But also that you've accidentally sat in a microwave.

For two cars from the same brand, from the same model year, at the same trim level it's a really remarkable difference.
In sports mode. The car has ‘engine’ noise. That confused me when I used it for the first time.

It goes grrrrrrr
Maybe you can mod it so it makes different noises, like a vuvuzela sound or something equally exciting
Sharp intake of breath when you go round a bend quicker than a crawl, to get that "driving with your mother" experience
Got round to cleaning the cars this weekend, first time in we’ll over a year.
Even managed to rummage in Mrs Z’s engine bay :hat: and noticed a couple of hoses had been rubbing :hat: . Re routed them to their correct positions and then noticed a vac hose that came off far too easily :hat: secured it better for now with a couple of cable ties and it’s actually running better!
Do we have an electric car thread?

If not, a very bright electric Skoda….

I like that one.. I could be tempted in 3 years.
Yep, if I needed that type of charm it’d be on the list.

Mine doesn't have different modes, it goes 'grrrrr' all the time.

Talking about the Skoda badge, I only realised when it was mentioned here, that my wheel design is based on it.

Yes, Škoda.

Being able to switch between something like that, and some whistles that go WHOOOOO (epic call back to the early internets) would be perfect.

The Merc doesn't have a "sports mode" as such, it's in sports mode by default. The optional mode is called "comfort" which, among other things, stops using first gear.
My car has a fault, the main console has died, and the parking brake and parking assist. Luckily i was passing where the dealers are.

I now have a Seat Ibiza courtesy car...
Customer : "Do you have one of those that I could take home for a test drive?"
Sales agent : "We don't have one on site but give me a moment" <presses button under desk> "Here it comes now! Just give me a few minutes to give it a tidy and make sure everything works ok, and i'll give you the keys"

:DD :DD
It was quite interesting to see my old car on the forecourt, at £17,495. Just shy for £3000 more than they bought it off me for.

My last motorbike has been donated to charity. Cheerio, Erfive, and your bizarrely short 5,000 mile rear tyre life for the power.
My C-Max has become uneconomical, with the new wheel bearing it needs costing more than the value of the car. Amazing.

It's a sad state of affairs when I'm genuinely considering a Kia Rio.

It'll be very cheap to run provided you can persuade Rishi Sunak to fill it up for you all the time.

But a wheel bearing is cheaper than buying another car. Or you mean you just need something cheaper to run?
It's not just the bearing if I'm honest. There's loads of little issues that will all add up come MOT time. Also, it's averaging about 24mpg, which ain't good
I had a dream last night that I had a new car, an electric one (no details on brand or model) , and was showing my passengers (no idea who they were, or how many, there were just some people in the car) how quickly it accelerated.... except it was underwhelming.

So I we pulled up at a junction (right near where I work - I pictured the exact road clearly) and used voice-control to put the car into 'launch-control' mode. And we took off, but it was still underwhelming. I tried to justify it by talking about the indicated speed on the speedo.... but everyone was unimpressed. And that was about all I remember.

I very, very rarely remember my dreams, so it seems odd how much of the dream was vague apart from one real-world accurate detail.
I've been having very similar dreams, oddly.

I'm trying to convince Helen she should let Skoda buy her kodiaq back for 23k and we'll manage on one car until whatever she orders on her company's ev scheme arrives.

Hang on, did I already post this?
Apparently not, which is really fucking weird because I'm sure I posted it somewhere, but I don't post anywhere else.

Anyway! Between us and our employers we've sorted out that one of us is at home every weekday, and I sleep all weekend, so we only need one car.

So she should take advantage of the second hand market now and also the ev subsidy at some point, while I struggle with modifying my superb or holding out for a Kia Ev6 GT

Seriously I already posted this somewhere right?
If a decent electric ute/pick up is released over here I would be very keen - I really need something that can lug stuff about periodically.
Everything points to a Ford Ranger Lightning and VW Amarok Boringsuffix (because they will be the same vehicle) - Real Soon Now!

That's what I actually really want but the bastards are being very cloak and daggery. Whereas Kia are being quite open about a 560bhp AWD ev6 available to actually be driving into ditches this year.
I assume the same will be true dahn ahndah, Ford have been targeting the Ranger as a proper global platform for a few years now (and then launched the Maverick in the US because who cares about consistency anyway)
From what I've read in the motoring press, Aus isn't getting a huge amount of EV supply (and it's kind of understandable, not a big market, pesky RHD setup, and lack of incentivisation) so we're lagging behind.

But yeah, an electric Ranger, or similar, seems like it'd really suit what I am after.
£120 got me less than a full tank of super for my superb this weekend but I would still happily buy a Maloo with the supercharged 6.2 LS if it had ever been official Vauxhall. I came very close on a supercharged monaro with a quoted
19mpg combined when that was a thing 15 years ago or some other daft number of years.

EV is where it's going to be at though. I have no problem with stupid torque and a 70mph top speed. Maybe 90 at a burst for safe overtaking, as happens every now and then
My friend is ok a picture of a car that’s so ugly that I desperately want one to care for and love. It looks like if North Korea made a furry dice in car form.
I want to chew on it. I'm assuming it's made of squidgy rubber.
Isn’t that the glorified electric scooter city car Renault make?
