Only that it is being sold by a repossession firm!

Yep. That's the obvious one :)

If I'm honest, I'm still keen on the C-Max
You’d be better off with the C-Max for camping / Ikea runs / Tip runs too.
But the Focus is a decent size too.
This is what you should buy

No..wait... This is what I should buy!
The Superb is a strange beast. Not much more boot space than the Octavia. It’s just got limousine-esque rear passenger space. Great if you have to ferry around 3-4 adults regularly I guess.
It's not just a space thing though, it's a refinement thing.

Oh yeah, I guess it’ll be higher specced, even at the base level.

My vRS is pretty basic, even has wind down rear windows. I say it’s to save weight, of course…
Buying new, there is a strong argument to go with the Octavia, as tech wise you actually get less for the same cost when you go for the Superb, due to the higher base cost. Second hand though, the Superb makes a lot of sense as the prices converge.
Octavia = quicker, lighter, more agile.
Superb = more comfortable ride, less wind noise, tiny bit bigger inside.

I'm really getting old, as the more comfortable and less wind noise ticks more boxes than speed or agility these days...
Well, the Type R goes today. I'll be a bit sad to see it go but it also feels like NG+ for the whole cars thing. I'll not be buying another petrol car.

That VTEC will be screaming all the way to the Nissan dealer, though.
:D

I'm thinking mine will be the last dinofuel car too, have to see how the longer commute is and how well my old girl can keep going for now.
Yep, same. If EVs were cheaper I wouldn’t have got this one. But it’s definutely the last bar the imminently catastrophic engine failure I’m currently worried about.

I do wonder what's going to happen with it all. All the major car brands are putting out a stream of EVs now so you have to assume that they expect lots of people to start buying them. But they're really only so relatively cheap to run because of the massive amounts of tax on petrol and governments are going to want that back from somewhere. But at the same time they can't be seen to be disincentivising people from making the switch.
Massive road tax ahoy.

Having sat in Octavias since getting a superb I assure you it's not a tiny difference.

The usability of the boot volume is a bit frustrating though, I get noticeably less green waste in it than I did the 535d.

Same thing though. Road tax currently incentivises cleaner engines, reversing that would be odd
So is stubbornly insisting on enacting a non binding referendum result that was based on bullshit and lies, but we're doing that anyway.

Nah, it started off free to get people to buy them. Now the price is dropping and they're far more popular there's too much money going wasted for them not to do it.
You pay less for smaller petrol engines, is what I meant. VED is emissions based, no?
heheheheh vag specialist.
I am not going to mention there’s no such thing as road tax because Professor Fewer has long retired.

That El-Born looks decent. So does the Kia e-Niro. That’s also 200bhp but does 200+ miles.
That's why I said VED

Several members of my team deliberately misuse much/many and less/fewer just to get a rise out of me. They're the ones I keep promoting, oddly.

Easy! Tax based on... Weight? Aerodynamic efficiency?

...

The number of kWh pushed in over 12 months, read off and submitted as part of the MOT like mileage? That's got a handy built-in 'tax-free' period as well!

So, VAT, then?

When we have to start paying VAT annually I'm going to cry.

Note that a new car that costs more than £40k is already taxed more highly than one that isn't for five years (and that includes electric cars, which I didn't realise until now. So turns out I was sort-of right ;))

Do you have a home charger, or are you just using 13-amps?
They're putting one in on Monday, the government pay for most of it.
They aren’t the best looking cars but I do quite like them.
Acenta spec, Mark? Or Visia? Guessing the former from the wheels :) Nice colour - I never really got on with the red I had on mine, made it look a bit like a weird blob - looks much better in black.

The Kia e-Niro does look damn good (kinda bummed they don't do a Diesel version called the d-Niro though :P) but apparently the UK aren't getting many of them this year, and my local Kia garage wont expect to have any in until early May!
Really weird whine coming from the front of the car when driving. Stops when stationary. Suspectd wheel arch linings or under tray, but at car park speeds sounds very unhealthy, especially when turning.

Matilda scared of your driving? ;)

Yeah it's the middle spec one, tbh I just bought the very first one I looked at/drove. I'd done a fair bit of reading and this one has everything we need really. Absolutely love it so far, though. Just a great little machine for whizzing about the local area in.
A Jazz and a Leaf. Cavey must be rolling around in his Beex grave.
I looked at the cheap Focus today.

It was shite. Knackered inside, filthy and dinged all over.

Fuck it, I'm buying the C-MAX
I've started seeing new Focuses. Wow, ford. Wow.

Edit: I've just realised what they look like - a 1 Series that someone's done a bad job of making look like a Focus. You know, how people put Ferrari body kits on MR-2s, and the never look right. But it's a bad body kit on an ugly donor.
I think they look fantastic!
They do look a little bit BMW-ish.
I’m not sure I like either the new Focus or Fiesta.

But not until 9:30 apparently.

I wish they'd do something about the awful looking touch screen in the newer fiestas. I really want android auto in my next car, but not looking like that.

Or maybe 10am.
*Actively fumes*

I agree. Helen looked at the new Focus last week and the interface, although quicker, is noticeably uglier. Also, the screen looks much more "stuck on" than the previous integrated style.
I was in a Mercedes the other day. In every way a lovely place to be but, quite aside from the fact I couldn't afford one, I'd never buy one because the infotainment UI is so ugly. Horrid italicised typeface. It looks cheap.
