Look, see this?

It's me not resubbing.

Not until someone comes over and makes my computer work with router, anyway

Yes.

That's so far away. Do I need to make my way there to join?

You'll have to get to the office to apply, yes.

And I'm sure it isn';t that far, I used to regularly roam 100+ jumps of an evening looking for something to kill.

Autopilot quickest was 19 jumps, many through <0.5 space. I'll have a look this evening about getting there safely. Saying that, I can't remember where that was from. I've made a new character now — perhaps I'm closer.
Don't be too afraid of low sec space, if you are in ahurry, take a shuttle, and warp to zero, it's almost unstopable.

Point noted — cheers. I'll see what I can do this evening, if I get chance to play.
My brain and face hurt from the utter lack of sleep I've had since I started this game. While on the train in today I was idling musing which skills to train up next and what I planned to do while others were learning.
You'll be using VPN to access your home PC from work when you realize you have a skill that finishes training at 1:17pm and you can't quite get home and back in your lunch break.

Then you'll plan the next three years of character development with the character monitor skill program thing.
AceAceBaby wrote:

It's running in the background of my work PC as we speak. I have my own office, remember :)
Then you're made for EVE. You won't be wailing in anguish to your corp chums that you missed out on 23 minutes of skill training!
The server goes down at 12 and I have a skill due to finish at 12:03, which is fucking annoying, I'll have to switch to something else before the downtime.

And so it begins.
What's worse is that the skill is 'Learning', so if I just had 5 minutes more the skill I learn during the downtime would learn 2% faster. Gah.

If I do resub, i think I'll train AWU to lvl 5 before anything else. Or Amarr Battleship up to lvl 5, or gallente Battleship. I dunno. Hmm.
Oh god, what have I got myself into? :'(

:nerd:
ComicalGnomes wrote:

Advanced weapon Upgrades, it lowers the powergrid or cpu requirement of guns so you can fit them easier.
Sounds great, I'm there, as soon as I learn mining and all kinds of other shit first.
I have that at 4 or 5 I think. Also Minmatar Battleship 5, Large Projectile Weapons 5. I think I sold my Tempest though, I never had much money.
yeah, I was trying to have really good support skills (I have the armor compensation skills up to lvl 5, all of them) and things so I could fly Amarr and Gallente ships well.

hm, 35USD for 60 days...
I went for a 3 month sub, that'll be long enough to see if I really fancy persisting :)
I do have a Retribution lying around that can take down 1.8m spawns.

Eventually.

Ah. If you're subscribing for that long, certainly there's a learning pattern to get the most out of your skill progressions (training up the stat skills and stuff). They made it easier I think too, that you can train the advanced ones before getting 5 in the basics.

Oh, and don't put anything in charisma.
Retibutions are sexy. I like the Vengeance with ROCKET DEATH.
AceAceBaby wrote:

Why not? Helps with agents, surely?

IIRC, it helps with the 'social' skills, for agents, and also for the 'leadership' skills that you need for command ships, but isn't too bad if you have lots of points in it, sa it evens out over time.
Things may have changed, but it's about skill ranks. Basically, charisma has/had very, very few high rank skills, which means any percentage gains on training times were going to be very small, compared to the other stats. Every hour/day you spend on training up a stat should pay for itself within a certain time. I don't think charisma ever really does.

My retribution had three lasers with short range crystals. I would orbit at 500m pew pew pew for about 40 minutes I think and the BS would eventually pop.

I used Vengeance and find player in cruiser in belt and warp in and CHARGE ROCKET DEATH OF DOOM for about 40 minutes until they popped. Vengenace has stupid awesome tank on it for a frigate.

<thinks>

4x Rocket Launcher II
named MWD, 9km scram, web,
Small armor repperII, EaNMII, Damage control II and I think a 200mm plate.

Had acebest fight vs man in Stabber cruiser which was very fast, but i was able to mess up his orbit, fling him into webrange, and then rocket the fucker down. missed the pod though. I survived with 5% structure...
We didn't get fussed ever by pirates. In many ways, 0.0 is safe space.

There were a couple of crews we always wanted to get back at though, for being gate sniping gits. Who were they... Mortis Angelus I think, and Armored Assassins. They're probably not even corps any more. Almost all my fighting was in alliance wars, though I never personally got a kill mail. I remember ATUK winning EVE by being giant poo heads.
I got done over at gates a couple of times in an Iteron when I had first started.

When I went pirate, I didn;t really have too much trouble being jumped, as I was often the ones starting the fights, but at gates I was vulnerable, as I don't get sentry support and jumping into a massive pirate gate camp is often a pain.

Hevrice is a good system for jumping on people i belts.
I turned on the option in my character sheet that says 'Show skills I can train but haven't got'. That was really handy for discovering a load of skills I previously had no knowledge of, with nice and quick Level 1 and 2 attribute boosts. :)
MaliA wrote:

I don't think I ever did any ratting in a system < 0.5 with a pronounceable name. That's a handy tip!

There's the lowsec pipe, running from Mara down to and past gayar which I used to run about it. Pretty good for getting the unwary, and the not so unwary. Dead end sysytems are arwesome for kicking fuck out of a barge minig operation with escorts. Escorts rarely stand and fight so just target barge and escort, point the barge, and fire a coupla times at the escort and escort will run aways.

This is true.

OMM NO NOM Hurricane.
I think I could fly one of those. I never had one though.
T2 fitted T1 hulls for low sec work.

Actually, thinking about it, it's probably best for newer players to have a look around at low sec before they get expensive clones/implants and ships, to see what it's about on the cheap.

Also, finding a quiet system to abse out of often does wonders.
They'll be podded for being alt scouts.
Less talk, more play, twats.
AceAceBaby wrote:

They'll probably get podded some time down the line, hyeah, but best get it over with when t is cheapness, and it also is good trainig for being alert, watching local, scanner and what have you.
Oh god.
ANYONE NOT USING THE FOLLOWING OVERVIEW SETTINGS WILL BE EJECTED FROM THE FLEET AND PODDED. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Alliances for you.
My overview settings are, and have always been, the default. I don't know what else to do with them.

Alliances are gay.

I had about 4 different setups.

One was 'Scanning' which was belts, planets and moons and ships and drones, 'travel' was gates and ships, 'PVP' was ships and drones.

So i'd use the travel one o go palces, then switch to 'scan' to find where someone was, then warp to where they were and flick it to PVP.

This way teh overview was never to cluttered so I ddin't misclick.

I also removed friendlies and gang members from overview.
Am I right in thinking you can have 3 different characters at once?
Mostly, they were rubbish. But there were always some characters. I'm trying to remember one of the cool ones from when we were fighting up in Tribute I think it was. He invented that plated rocket kestrel that ate T2 frigates. He was always coming up with strange ships that did a lot of killing, for cheap. In Foundation we were on the same side as Heikki and his smart bomb ambush. He sploded over 20 ships when a wolf pack came running through one time.

edit- you can have three characters, but you can't log them in at once. It's still possibly handy to have them in other regions to check markets, or get them some research agents apprently.
ComicalGnomes wrote:

yes, but only one can train a skill at any one time.

I had :MaliA who was main pvp person
tsara who was corp CEO and in charge of cash and logistics and buying and selling and another who was buying and selling
ComicalGnomes wrote:

Yes, but you can only train one.
MaliA wrote:

I always had Stargates on that one too, in case I needed a warp destination quickly.
Refinement required, but aside from anything else I'm starting to feel quite ill. I don't know if its lack of sleep or an incumbent aids infection. :spew:

Heh, I used to, but then I was on an aggro timer by then, so sentry guns ate me a few times, so I removed it.
