Mining question:

Obviously, each rock in an asteroid field as a certain yield, which, once mined is gone. What happens when an entire asteroid field runs dry? Do they replenish? Do they become worthless areas to visit?
They replenish each DT I think. But in the meantime there should be all kinds of smack talk in local and forum bitching about people messing up the spawning tables by either

a) farming each asteroid to destruction

or

b) not farming each asteroid to destruction.
Sorry to perpetuate my ignorance, but DT is?
Down time. Pop away, IMO - more chance of getting better ones to respawn, or so it feels.
I'm doing a bit of experimental mining with Sheep's Bantam, mining massive scordite. My current cargo capacity makes this worth about 20k isk per trip. I even have a crap little drone helping me now. Fear me.
How long does a trip take?
I always had fighter drones when mining, to get rid of pirate spawns.
Probably 3-4 mins per trip if I'm paying attention.

Pirate spawns? Is this in low-sec?

That's good money, that. They use it to make Massive Yachts.

Also, you will soon want to be mining to a jet-can, so you can haul after an hour or so of mining without to-ing and fro-ing to the station. When you have an industrial ship or a friend with one.

Yar!!!

What you cna do is jetison the ore, then open the cargo container, and move ore from your hold into container. Repeat until you have an industrial's worth and take it all back at once. But then people might take it from the container and that is a BAD thing.

No npc spawns in 1.0 or 0.9 IIRC
Cargo containers have no space limit?
It's a long standing quirk/bug. they do, but it's Massive. Not the containers you buy, just if you jettison any old crap into space it appears in a giant inflatable magic cannister. Which you can then drag n drop ore from your ship's hold into as you mine. I think they pop out of existence after two hours though, so you couldn't leave it around.

27,000 cubic metrews, i think, but people can steal from them, so it is less secure.
And Com can't fly a indy.
It isn't much book lernin I think, depends on the character creation. I think Amarr has the lowest requirement industrial ship, skills wise.
Brilliant, thanks.

New question about Targetting. At my current skill level I can target two things at once, but don't *really* see how this benefits me, as whenever I activate my guns they shoot at the first target. Am I being stupid, or is there any way for one miner to target one asteroid, and the other, another?
Yes. I think you can click on a target then click the gun icon on the bottom right of your screen. This might involve changing some option, but I forget.
Changing targets was covered in the tutorial. That'll teach you to pay attention.
I didn't follow the tutorial all the way to the end, damnit.

Edit: Ok, earned 200k from that, but it certainly took a while. Bigger ship + miners = good.
You could stop mining scordite, it's not very expensive. Go down to 0.5sec and find some Pyroxeres or Omber.

OK, the benefit is this:

You target ship which releases drones, you then target drones as well.

Keeping a point of scram and EWar on the target ship, you use your web and guns to get rid of drones as they are targetted.

But, in reality, just turn guns off, and click the targetted ship and turn guns on again, as I'm not sure I can coax you into being a killer right now :)

Why do I keep reading this thread when none of the posts makes any sense at all?

Sorry, yeah.

Disrupt the ability of oppenent to do much.
I spent some virtual shoe money on a 60 day timecode. 57 minutes remaining on the client download.

Hmm. I only have 37,823,753 skill points.
I just passed 900,000 and I am a KING.

How is all that crap generated?
You can get an XML file off the EVE website for your character.

Then you can load it into http://evemon.battleclinic.com/
I must say I am very tempted to join but have a shit load of work on.

I see there is an OSX version. Does the game leave shit all over the system or is it easy to remove without fucking stuff up? Also, what are the system requirements in terms of HD space?
The OSX one is just an app all wrapped up in that cider thing I think. I'll report on disk space when I install it on OSX.
I've downloaded both clients, might give the trial a go. My old Tosh laptop should be up to the Enhanced graphics. Any char gen tips I should be aware of? Is in-game chat text or voip based?
Text chat mostly. I think people use TS/Vent for voice in corps, though I remember some in built thing being done. Char gen tips- don't choose charisma. There might be some sites/forums with more specific recommendations for starting out depending on what you want to do.

WELCOME TO THE END OF YOUR SOCIAL LIFE AS YOU KNEW IT. :hat:
The OSX client is an 840mb download that apparently copies to 1.5gb into the Applications folder.

Text and VOIP. There's a VOIP client in the game now.

Nice skillset, btw Ace.

Thanks.

Might well take a look at it once the current workload has calmed down.

Yeah, you're screwed.
The Rev Owen wrote:

That's because, like me, you've sussed this is the closest thing the world has to an Elite MMORPG. Hence it is now thoroughly under your skin. Also, it's going to stay that way until Braben pulls his finger out and stop writing poorly thought out screeds against second hand game sales and writes it.
In my dream MaliA was moaning that the piece of nonsense I wrote yesterday to illustrate the incomprehensibility of the thread to people who haven't played the game didn't work because, though it all made sense, it was actually impossible to achieve in the game.

Could I build my own spaceship like this one?

No.

But you can build ships. Although it is cheaper to buy them from the market than it is to build them yourself.

Give it time; the way this game progresses with new additions I wouldn't be surprised if they added a personality factor for anger. :D
Poked a toe into low-sec yet? Go and visit the EvE gate.
Bugger that, I can barely kill level 1 NPCs, I'm not poking a toe anywhere where people have millions of skillpoints in ships that are bigger than my caravan. *parps self*

Pah! And there was me prepared to recruit 6 of you so that I could fly around the galaxy causing trouble while sporting a perm and a RADA accent.
