Kettle has died...

My kettle has died.. :(

Have any of you used a smart kettle or are they a gimmick

I quite like this one

https://www.amazon.co.uk/RediKettle-Var ... r=8-6&th=1
We've had one of these Bosch ones for about 15 years now, still going strong:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-TWK8631G ... 003ZHVAJK/

Do use the lower temperature feature a fair bit as well.
Kov: (Thinks).."time for a wee brew." and fills kettle.

Kov's phone goes 'Ping,' he's got a text.

"This is your kettle. How many drinks are you making? Not just one, I hope, that's waaaayyyy too much water. I don't turn on until you've emptied some out. NOT DOWN THE SINK, YOU WASTREL, WATER SOME PLANTS WITH IT OR SUMMAT, BUT DON'T WASTE IT. THINK OF THE THIRSTY PEOPLE OF THE THIRD WORLD WITH NO ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER."
That actually sounds quite good - I'd have got the one in the office to shout at people. No, Steve, you don't need a whole kettle for your one cup.

Plus it would have cut down on the huffing and puffing at him having so little time. WELL STOP SITTING WAITING FOR A FULL KETTLE, THEN.

Ahem. As you were.

That looks better than the one i saw.

The one i listed seems to want to pour water everywhere.. :)
At our office we have a boiling water tap which, health and safety risks ignored for a second, makes making hot drinks a lot more convenient.

By my understanding it doesn't actually cost a huge amount to maintain the temperature either, although I'm not privy to the electric bills.

Could be something to look at when I replace the kitchen next year.

I can tell google to switch my kettle on... :DD :DD

And your kettlle will yell from the kitchen, "Get up and do it yourself, you lazy sod."

I can tell MY kettle to switch on, but it's terribly ignorant and always ignores me.

Unless you can plumb it in, that feels kind of gimmicky.

I was thinking that.. also £120!! for a kettle
You can get a smart plug that'll turn your kettle on for you, if smart is that important to you.
We got one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07S6BPM72/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_01V6JBPK7WC8EDXMVFXY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 when our kettle packed up (from an eBay seller, so it wasn't that much). Seems to have a bit of a leaky bottom, but it lights up different colours and that's what matters.
Yeah, you’ll need to remember to fill it up the night before if you want the kettle boiling before you get up. Otherwise I can’t see the point.

Just never plug a smart kettle into a smart plug or else it'll become self aware leading to all sorts of moral quandries/unfathomable consequences.

No not really... i was just looking them up.

It does seem a bit pointless, if I have to put water in, then get my phone or shout at it to switch the kettle on..
Just get that Bosch I linked earlier. It's fast boil so if I'm doing two cups and don't fill it right up it's always boiled by the time I've got the cups out and put stuff in them.
Can you somehow connect it to a smart tap, that will fill it for you?
Smart straws will be the future.
Does the kettle come in all black?

The pot wants to know.
Also while we are on smart kitchen appliances, this Modern Toss cartoon continues to amuse me.
