Where IS area 51?

There's a town in Scotland that celebrates Halloween on the last Friday of October regardless of the date. All the other towns laugh at them.

I feel bad for the person on the other end of that mix up who got a unpleasant suprise when they bit into a mystery tree beast.
I had an interesting 25 minutes in the middle of my walk just now.

I'd barely seen anyone all walk, when I come to the entrance of a carpark that's currently closed. There's a cattle grid usually, but for the past couple of months there's also been a chain across the entrance so cars can't drive in and park.

Now today there's a farmer clearly in his 80s (I'd say closer to 90 than 80) struggling with the chain. It turns out someone had vandalised the previous one and he was trying to fit the new one, but the padlock wasn't shutting, and he was really struggling with the weight of the chain too.

I offered to help, and in the end we sorted it, and then he offered me his to shake, by way of thanking me, and I instinctively shook it, only remembering about covid the microsecond before shaking! 5 seconds after we shook hands a police car shows up, and my instant thought is wow they're strict on enforcing the social distancing policy here! Any way it turns out she was coming to talk to the farmer about the chain being broken. So I left them to it, and wasted half my water washing my hand as I went smiling to myself about the rapid response to shaking a stranger's hand (probably the only person I've touched outside my family in over a year!)

15 minutes later I'm walking on the road between the moors and the woods, a road that is rarely used by cars (maybe 2-3 an hour) as there's really nothing there apart from a few cottages and farms and what not, and I see a man in a full hazmat suit (gloves, boots, helmet, gas mask, the works) walking towards me, we pass on opposites sides of the road, I say hi to him, but he completely ignores me and continues walking from where I've come from! I walk for another 5-10 minutes and there's absolutely nothing to suggest that anyone else (never mind people in hazmat suits or whatever) is around doing any work or anything.

So I conclude that he's out for a walk and enjoying the sun, but is really paranoid about catching covid19! Either that, or heard about me shaking a stranger's hand and didn't want to take any chances!

Other than that it was a really enjoyable walk!

The Blue line is roughly where I walked, the orange arrow is where I met the farmer, and the yellow arrow is where I met hazmat guy, as you can see there are very few places where he could have come from or be going to!
What's the red arrow?
Sounds like a communist super hero to me (or the singular version of the RAF display team. Or I got confused between red and orange
Not confused. I'm genuinely interested if that looks orange to you, as it looks red to me. :) Could be our displays, could be how we individually see colours, could be a learned response to what we were taught about different colours.
Nah, it's red, I just forgot between drawing the arrow, and then writing about it.
Happy Jazzy Day!!!!!! :luv:

To be fair EVERY supermarket has a version of the Colin cake, and I guess if this is successful then the others will follow.
Booths wouldn't.
Booths would only sell Beatrix Butterfly.
Thank you for the birthday wishes guys. I spent most of the day with my work family which was lovely.

Hopefully can make up for not seeing my need family for my last two birthdays sometime this year too. :luv:

Twice autocorrect changed that from Beex on my phone. Clearly I missed it a third time!

Thanks guys, planning on an Indian later - I have a hankering for Tandoori chicken. :droool:
My brain is trying, and failing, to be too clever. Watching Solar Opposites and spent too many seconds wondering what this Latin was.

A couple of full stops after E and T would have made all the difference.
What a beautiful day it is.
I wouldn't wish the Covid on anyone .... Except maybe POTUS45, but now that restrictions are being lifted the traffic is horrendous. Lockdown made my peregrinations infinitely more pleasurable.
Interesting chat with Virgin,

I used to live with a now ex, and she had virgin TV etc. For some reason she put my email as a contact..

Every so often I get an email from virgin. I politely ring up, and they say they will take my email off. Then I get another email.... etc

I tried ringing the complaints line.. It says 'enter phone number or press #', I press #, it says 'enter account number or press #' I press #, it says 'enter phone number or press #'

I mash * a few times and speak to a human.

I explained, the situation and could they remove my email. I was told 'As I don't have the account detail, they can't access the account' which is fair. 'Under GDPR they can't give me the account details' which is also fair.

'My manger suggests blocking the emails' which is an odd response, to knowingly having the wrong details.

I have an email address to see if I can get my name details removed from their system..

A little frustrating
I'm having a FUCKING NIGHTMARE of a day. Traffic is crazy, my first job in very-well-to-do Hale went totally tits up and the second in Delph wasn't much better. I've I only just stopped for my lunch break. I can't even type correctly. I need a reset.

Do we need to drive to you and poke something somewhere?

An interesting read

Secret codes. Legal threats. Betrayal. How one couple built a device to fix McDonald’s notoriously broken soft-serve machines—and how the fast-food giant froze them out.
I think the real story here is the 1.7% tip.

Nah, not really. The day improved a bit, but I was running behind so ended up with a couple of hours overtime to catch up.

Today is a bit better so far, although I did get diverted from my first job, which would have been Macclesfield, to The Lowry to have a look at a server that kept going off-line. It just needed a decoke to stop it overheating.

Is there an O between the N and B in a different colour that's not visible in that light?
I went hiking in rural Buckinghamshire on Saturday, and ended up summing the Devil!

It's at North Marston. If you fill the trough, the Horned One Himself pops up out of a boot. Pretty cool.
I currently have a loan, and I am in the position to making extra payments.

There is a extra payment calculator so you can work out how you payment effects your loan....

if I pay

£100 - it saves £72 in interest and reduces the loan by 2 months
£200 - it saves £138 in interest and reduces the loan by 3 months
£300 - it saves £199 in interest and reduces the loan by 5 months

Am I right, that if I keep paying £100, let it clear and the pay £100 again, it is better that paying £200 or £300 as it has a greater impact?

I can't imagine waiting longer will be better. The calculation for the second lot of £100 will not have the same effect as the first lot.

Is there a way you can adjust the figures of the calculator to take into account the shorter repayment time and lower balance?
I'm far from an expert but I would have thought that paying it off as quick as possible would always be the best option?
But then you have less money to spend on awesome stuff right now!
You make a very good point.

Is there any way you could borrow more money Kov?

I meant pay £100, let it clear it takes 24 hours, and the pay £100, as that will remove 4 months rather than 3 months if I paid £200. The interest is generated on the 21st, so would have the same net result interest, so clearing an extra month..

That is true, put if I pay the loan off I will extra money each month and no loan :)

This seems odd to me. Overpaying by more should increase the amount of interest you don't pay, as the amount should compound. Overpaying 200 should save you more than double overpaying 100. I'm guessing the 2/3/5 months is just due to it having to round to the nearest month for total payments - your last payment might be smaller than normal.

Is it possible you'd be charged a fee for over-payment? Some loans have an amount you can overpay for free then they start charging.
