I've just noticed that the word "Picard" also sounds like someone saying "pick hard". This could be used for comedic purposes. For instance combining it with a nose (rude), or a bottom (quite rude). If anyone would like to use this in conversation get in touch and I'm sure we can arrange some sort of licensing agreement.

We'll skate over Mali's EPIC WRONGNESS up there and stick to Picard - cor, this is a bit good, isn't it? Mr Stewart has definitely developed a strong "troubled old man" schtick (c.f. Logan). Very well shot, brilliantly atmospheric. I will watch more of this.

I'm enjoying it, and I really like the intro music and opening sequence. It's got quite polarised reviews on imdb tho and in my easily-swayed nature I find myself agreeing with both the good reviews and the bad ones (or at least, elements thereof).
How much of it is him acting and how much is just that he's a real old duffer now anyway?

I think I hate this show.
I don't even want it to just be the same as TNG, it should obviously try to push things forward, but feels like they're making the least interesting choice at every opportunity.
Furthermore, how many of the best Star Trek stories have involved a threat that might destroy all life in the galaxy, or another massive galactic scale stakes?
DS9 obviously dealt with large scale war, but focused on showing the human cost and personal experiences in that conflict.

I fell asleep in this recent episode and woke to find it'd finished, so I 'rewound' back to roughly where I remembered seeing... and then fell asleep again.
Riker looked old and Troi looked funny and it seemed kind of forced to me. While I still think Riker's pretty cool, there's a danger revisiting old things in that they might turn out to be worse then we remember them

I am still enjoying Picard, I like the slow paced feel to it.
It's not what I hoped somehow, I guess different writers or whatnot but Picard doesn't even feel like the same person. Special guest stars popping in and out every week. I dunno, it all just seems like a bit of a mess.
Yeah their whole thing about Picard not being good with kids is bizarre because he lived a whole life and had kids and grandkids and was shown to have good relations with the children.
Maybe the writers of Picard never saw that episode of TNG.
Edit: just one example of many. It's not even plot inconsistencies that bug me, is character ones.
I can even accept that characters change over time, but a lot of this stuff is without rhyme or reason.
