Do we have both cottages, Curio? I'd love to play but option 2 is only really viable if we can leave it set up in cottage #2

I certainly hope so, it's where I plan on sleeping! :D

Oh, in btw, for the whole weekend. Sorry it took me a while, I had to get over the shock of both the cottage and meat up being organised in the first half of February!! :DD

Super early to be thinking about this shit, but dropping it here so I don't forget.

I'm more than happy to bring along Gloomhaven if folks want to see it in action, but there are two ways to play the game.
1) Casual mode, pick a character, run a one time only scenario, have fun, repeat.
2) Campaign mode, create a character, level up, get loot, do events in the town, then head to the scenario and fuck shit up, repeat.

It actually works really well for mixed level characters in the same scenario, and a party/campaign can be made up of up to 17 different characters (only 4 can quest at the same time though).

Would folks be interested in playing Gloomhaven? If so, would you be interested in option 1 or option 2? Option 1 would be easier, but for option 2 we could leave it setup at the end of a table for the weekend and rattle through quite a few scenarios of a campaign with folks dropping in and out, which might be fun.

I'd love to have a go of this. :)
Hola.

After discussions with a number of people, I have cancelled our booking of the cottage for this year. Whilst this does involve missing out on arguably the best weekend of the year, having a ton of households from all over the country descend to meet together in the middle seems something of a recipe for disaster.

There was no deposit, so we’re not out of pocket at all, and we can just organise another one for when the plague has lessened a bit.
A sad but correct decision. Thank you for booking it so early for once
@cras meet you on Progressive Porch?
A shame but the right choice. This year is a write-off.
Since I realised that I couldn't make it this year, this the correct decision.

See you next year!
It is the right decision. Roll on 2021
Would’ve been the 10th anniversary of Britain’s greatest tradition. :(
Causing a global pandemic just because you know you have no chance of defending my hat is low even for you, Chonks.

Almost as bad as forgetting to bring it after winning it the first year
We could set aside the weekend for virtual shenanigans. Online board games, quizzing, me thrashing everyone at Fall Guys.
We've all got plenty of time to get an Xbox 360 and Halo 3 for online fun!

Or you get a pc or xbox one and play it on there.

Yes! Although Curio's Cocktail Round might be a bit tricky.
Curio lists what spirits and mixers (and traditional fruits) he has. We choose how he mixes it.

HE MUST DRINK
I can deliver anything suitably unpalatable that he doesn't already have
We can make the teams in advance and you post me a bottle of the cocktail.
My friend is selling this place in Scotland, it would make for awesome Scottish meets.

You'd get a shoebox for that in That London

Ah, yes. She's had to reduce it from 250 so it will sell ASAP.

I'd love to buy it and rent it out as serviced accommodation like the cottage. Let me kni if anyone wants in. :D

Property in the middle of nowhere is cheaper, who knew?

When we were looking at houses in Scotland we had a budget of ~£250k and we could get a four-bed new-build with garage for that in decent areas.

They’re about £350k here in Nottingham and £750k near my folks down south.
Facebook is already shoving "memories" in my feed of previous cottages and now I feel sad :'(
Mine, too. I feel weary and worn out at a lot of the memories stuff. At the beginning of this whole thing I got rid of my Timehop app, which usually I love, just because it just made me feel sad.
I blocked Facebook from showing me memories when I got divorced.
I suppose one of the advantages of an ex that forbade me from being in pictures does at least mean that there are no "memories" to speak of, prior to leaving him. :DD
@myp I think you can block specific memories around certain events or people? I wouldn’t want to think you were blocking memories of me out for no reason :D

But in seriousness, yes, I think it’s a lovely feature if you don’t have half a lifetime of things that you don’t want to see since you created the account. My account is relatively new, but right now just posts about seeing friends and family make me miss those people a lot, and just the general more care-free, fear-free person I used to be.

But anyway, that’s Covid talk.

One of my favourite cottage memories is when you brought me the magic number of crumpets in bed x x x

I'm getting those on my phone's photo apps too now. I feel sad as well, as for the last decade it's become one of the things I've most looked forward to in any year but grateful for the happy memories and fingers crossed we'll be back next year. I've already got a shortlist of games I want to try out on you lot :)

Is there an ideal number of crumpets? They strike me as one of the foods that can be eaten continually.
I find three is the magic number. No more, no less.

It feels like two is sensible, three is decadent and just perfect if you’re hungry.
Spooky timing - the l33tsp34k actually reads more like "Collage" anyway, so being perfect for a photo-memories gap year.
We should be leaving for the cottage now. :'(
Not only am I missing cottage, but I've somehow ended up with my children all weekend even though they should be at their dad's.

It's truly the end of days.
I'm sitting on my suitcase waiting for Craster to collect me. He's late, or something.
Like, a day late
Message received from parallel universe....

Right, I'll go get Mali and we'll be there about six. Looking forward to it.

However, in yet another different universe, Curio didn’t get around to booking it so we’re all furious with him
The sinister YouTube algorithm just served me an advert for 'Ticket to Ride', reminding me that 2020 was going to be my year at the World Championships. Grrr...
Looks like it might be available for our 'usual' weekend...

omg omg omg omg :luv:

Is this a go-er this year? We'll all be vaccinated by then, right?
Well, someone needs to poke curio.

@curiosity
Hey hey hey lovely people.

So, I've said to Curio that I'd be happy to take over organising this year (for some mad reason). So, firstly I need an indication of how many people would be comfortable doing cottage given ~the circumstances~ and secondly, if we can't get it for the usual weekend (we can't, Curio says it's booked throughout October) would the preference be for some time in September or some other time? I will need to find out specifics on available dates for definite though.
