My plan is to never hear it. I’ve still not managed it.

If you've never heard it, how do you know you've never heard it?

I’ve alreasy clarified. Each year it is my plan. Of course I’ve heard it before. ;)
You're alreasy.
No, YouTube, even I would not have this as my number 1 Christmas Day topic, even if Theresa May, Angela Merkel, and Ian Dunt showed up unexpectedly at my open house.
Fuck yeah present from work.

No, sank to my knees in the confectionary aisle when I heard the guitar riff in Sainsbury’s.

I don't like it AND I dunno what it is.

I'm on call today.

I'm sitting in the car park at the Trafford Centre, which is rammed, trying to get up the enthusiasm to go in to swap a dodgy M&S ticket printer. Just the car park looks horrendous, a continual stream of consumers trying to find a parking space and the bloody place only opened two minutes ago.

At least I'm not going in to shop for anything.
It's Negasonic Teenage Warhead from the Deadpool movies.

That'll be why I didn't know.

I thought it was Sinead o Connor
I thought it was Ripley from Alien 3.
I thought it was Julie Driscoll, but that's really showing my age.

Actually, he hair was longer than that.
I'm really getting into the (I hate) Christmas Spirit now.

Nah, nothing compares.
My new employer has no discernable Christmas Spirit unless you are one of those people who wants to give up their bank holidays to work overtime.

My colleagues and I who TUPE'd over agree that it makes our previous one look efficient, caring and not a complete fucking shambles,, which is not something any of us expected to be able to say.
Fuck yeah, it’s Christmas now!
:) Have a good one.
We’ve watched The Snowman three times, have all got Christmas pyjamas, arexready to set out food for the reindeer. Gifts are under the tree. Darwin is looking forwards to putting his stocking out on the end of the bed. I cooked a ham (I always make it slow cooked in Dr Pepper, then glazed with black treacle). I have some special bubble bath for a relaxing soak soon, when the sun dips below the horizon (in one minute’s time). All is good.
Oh, and Russell and I watched Die Hard got the first time last night.
Fire. Beer. Pizza dough rising and pigs in blankets in the oven. Die Hard is on.

I guess it's time to relax.
I'm drinking beer and watching a Spice Girls compilation on 'the vault' (one of Freesat's 2 - count 'em - music channels). Merry Christmas folks!
It's Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

The merriest kind of correct!
Santa confused two of the kids in the Malcolm house and has spent the last 2 hours correcting some wrapping. Happy tiredmass all!
Meet Christmas motherfuckers. I don’t even have youngsters anymore so why am I up at this delightful hour?

Putting turkey breasts in the sous vide. I am the antithesis of hardcore

Sssssshhhh. Go back to sleep. Where’s my fucking Santa outfit?
Merry Christmas

Gold plated, I hope?
I am drinking Ardbeg whiskey and watching Roger & Hammerstein's Carousel, wot my mum got. It's no Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, but I kind of dig just seeing things in Technicolor, so hey. Also got Saul Leiter's photo retrospective. Kinda awesome. There's an image of Alan Bennett looking kinda cool with a model in early 60s New York, and lots of abstracts witk ketchup red and cadium yellow and ink black in the wintry Big Apple.

Just watched Monsters Inc. too. Still ace.

Sad news though in that we lost my Dutch step-gran the week before,. She was kind of amazing, stylish and active near to the end and an incredible cook. We're still making merry, but there's that bittersweet edge. That's two Christmas's in a row I've lost a grandma. :(

Happier news in that I also became a second time uncle ten days ago, and my blessed niece Merryn is doing very well, as is my sis.

Hope everyone's Christmas be mighty fine!
Well that’s Christmas over. Both Sal and I are back to work today. It should be deader than a dead thing for me at least.

We do have next week off though.

How does that work, surely there is a backlog of post that hasn't been delivered the past couple of days? I would have expected it to be a busier day than normal?

There won’t be any cards and hardly any parcels. Businesses are shut down mostly. Where is the mail coming from?
Presumably he means those parcels and letters posted after the last day for guaranteed delivery - the 20th wasn’t it.

Aye, the ones sent before xmas that are piled up against the walls of the big royal mail warehouse, poured in through the skylight before the posties buggered off down the pub for xmas.

And who sorts it, the magical sorting elves? I’m expecting next week to be busier but I’m off so.

Just finished for today. :)
So the sorters stopped work a day earlier than the delivery folk then? That doesn't sound like the most efficient way of working...
Trooper wrote:

But the sorting of stuff sent on Christmas Eve won’t happen until today. It’s not going to appear at the delivery office until tomorrow at the earliest.

And who’s going to be posting stuff on Christmas Eve (normal post)?

*raises hand*

Although it was nice and quiet in the post office for a change.

Yeah, but you understand my point though, if you have nothing to deliver due to it not being sorted, surely people were sorting stuff prior to Xmas ready to be delivered. Everyone taking 2 days off doesn't change the lag between sorting and delivering? It just means there is a backlog to get through.

I believe you that it was quiet btw, I just don't get why :D
