As someone who loved Arkham Asylum, but got bored with the sprawl of Arkham City and never played any of the rest, I'm torn over whether I'll enjoy this.

I never really got on with Arkham. The similarities are obvious, but this feels so much more fluid. Zooming around is effortless and the combat box of tricks it gives you is awesome. Brilliant sense of humour too.
Also only an hour in, so can't comment much more than that.

I could just spend hours swinging around the city, it's utterly delightful.
Combat in this is so incredibly fluid. You switch from ground moves to midair moves to bouncing of walls and beating people in the face with their own gun. I love it.
So it's free roaming around a full-scale accurate model of Manhattan? Forget the Spider-Man stuff, that alone is enough to get me considering buying a PS4.

Mostly accurate. There's a little artistic license, like ramming Avengers Tower in the middle of the Upper East Side

I don't think that's true. Wikipedia suggests the initial deal was between Marvel and Sony, with Insomniac coming on board later to actually do the development. It sounds like the rights belong to Sony. Plus, Sunset Overdrive notwithstanding, a lot of Insomniac's catalog is PlayStation exclusives
