Overcooked! You should play Overcooked together. Honestly!

After nearly destroying 100 lives playing over cooked, I bought Overcooked 2. Played it with the boy, rage quit during the prologue. Never started it up again.

Happy birthday Joans.
https://www.theguardian.com/games/2018/ ... 018-so-far

The Guardian lists the best games of 2018.

1 & 2 won’t surprise anyone. I see that this month’s PS+ game Iconoclasts is at No. 16. I’ve played a tiny of it and thought it was super-nice so I might have to crack on with that!
I read an article on The Guardian about why Half Life was the most important game of all time. The mistakes started in the first paragraph, and it went downhill from there.
What’s wrong in the first paragraph? And whether it stands up as a good game or not anymore, it is definitely influential.

Another cracking year from Microsoft and the Xbox One there then.

Also, I've heard a lot about into the breach. I think I'm going to have to check it out.

It's not a new job. Everyone there knows him well.

Lonewolves wrote:

It is definitely influential (and good). It is not "the most important shooter ever made".
Yeah I thought that could be the only thing about it. I’m going to play Black Mesa soon I think. Xen is being released next year and then it’s pretty much done.

He better not say Doom.

Depends on your definition of "important", I guess.

Half-life was really good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't do anything astoundingly new, it just did everything astoundingly well.

Really the answer should be Maze War, but I can't not give it to Wolfenstein 3D.
Doom

Huh? Am I going mad or is Borza 4 the only Xbox exclusive on that list?

*edit* full list for the lazy:

Red Dead Redemption 2
God of War
Into the Breach
Forza Horizon 4
Tetris Effect
Monster Hunter World
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Celeste
Return of the Obra Dinn
Ni no Kuni 2
Shadow of the Colossus
Astro Bot: Rescue Mission
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
Florence
Dark Souls Remastered
Iconoclasts
Moss
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Yoku’s Island Express
Yakuza 6
You are not going mad. The only other Xbox exclusive from this year I can think of is Sea of Thieves.

It’s not on the list.

Bit of an odd hurrah for Microsoft/Xbox then?
Half-Life paved the way for more narrative-based shooters, I think. Beforehand it was just shooting and that was pretty much it.

I'm assuming he was being sarcastic. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.
But...but...Praisebot?
I genuinely can't think of any other Xbox exclusives so no.. I wasn't being sarcastic.

Personally I think Sea of Thieves is brilliant but I can't see it troubling many 'game of the year' lists.

You think 1/20 is a "cracking year"?

I'm not sure that I haven't missed a joke :(
I don't think Praisebot knows what sarcasm is :(
Oh right, hang on.. I was being sarcastic. I was responding to Bambas quote where he hadn't quoted my sarcasm.

Never mind. Carry on.

Man, I'd play it before they inflict Xen upon it.

Unless you really like being molested by giant scrotums.

It’s a total reimagining according to the latest articles I’ve read. It actually looks quite good!
Oh ffs, the wind caught the gates and now a gatepost is sheared and hinge has pulled out several screws and the latch is bent. Appreciate this is a first world problem but now the hoi polloi can saunter in

My memory of it when I played it was that it was beginning to drag on by that point anyway. And then you get attacked by a gonad.

But then again, I was broadly indifferent to hl2, so perhaps not the target audience.
HL2 was rather easy to be broadly indifferent to.
When buying Human Fall Flat there it occurred to me that I'd just blindly bought it on Steam because it was 50% off there, but it may have actually been cheaper elsewhere. Which led me to realise I don't really have a complete mental list of reputable (i.e. not G2A) online game stores to check when looking for stuff. What good places I missing from this list:

  • Steam
  • Humble Store
  • GOG
  • Green Man Gaming

I'm sure there's loads of others I know about but I'm having a total mental block at the minute. Actually, I suppose the ideal here would be a site that constantly scrapes and indexes prices from all the actual stores, does something like that exists that's reliable?

I use IsThereAnyDeal, personally.

EDIT - if you link it to your Steam wishlist, you can receive email notifications when one of the games is on offer and not just in a Steam sale.

Nice one, I'll give that a shot.
Add the Epic store, I guess.

Right now they only seem to have a handful of games available so they're not a worthwhile comparison source for the moment. Well, either that or their website doesn't actually show their full catalogue and you need to launch the actual client to see everything, in which case they can get fucked anyway.
Oh, they have free shit. Yoink!
Don’t you “need” Origin for EA games and Battle.net for Blizzard/Acti games?
Was it Grim... or Cras being wrapped up on Celebirty Juice’s Christmas Special?
Does anyone have any knowledge of how easy it is to emigrate to New Zealand? This place is beyond amazing.
Just land at the docks and tell them you are British.
