I don't get the beex swear thing. What is it?
It's us, swearing.
Oh. ?:|

I guess we have different interests
I have it on Google Reader. It's almost free-form modern poetry.

(I might wear a beret and read out excerpts at the local boho pub's poetry slam evening)

No shit, sherlock.
I have decided to join you all in the cult of twitter. Not sure how much I'll use it'll get, but there you go.

Welcome Wullie. I am downloading that mix you recommended :D

Hrm. Looking through my twitter list of who I'm following, there are padlocks next to some of them and their updates appear not to be coming through. Can only assume these are people I have twit-o-fended :(

Or is 'twirritated' the word?
Am I one, Kalmar?

I have mine 'padlocked', but people who I have added and accepted should be able to see my posts, still.

If you can see my latest 'twit' it is about a certain type of building...

Phew!

WINDMILLS!

Yeah, the padlock just means that your updates can't be seen by just any Tom, Dick or Harry, just by the people you have added as 'friends' - it doesn't mean that they have locked you out - if you can see a post with a padlock next to it, you are one of the people added as a friend :)
Some of you are following me already, but I'm there as

Oh, so that's who theotherman is!

That clears it up!

I need to get my phone to do Twitter. It's one of the reasons I want a JesusPhone.

I was a lot less keen on Twitter before I made my phone do it. It's not a coincidence than the iPhone has over a dozen Twitter clients.
Does anyone know of one for the G1?

If it can connect to the Internet then it probably already has a Twitter client, although you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise if you read this forum. You can SMS tweets, too.

Looks like Twitli or Twidroid.

Indeed. Twitter is much better once you can post these little snippets from anywhere, any time.

*hem hem*
I have twidroid. Heh.
OK. Phone time. I want a decent HS(D)PA web device that's a decent phone. Options:

1) iPhone. Plus points are obvious. Minus - I'm really not sure I'm going to get on with a touchscreen device. I batter my phones - they spend their entire lives in my trouser pocket, when I'm not dropping them on the floor.
2) Nokia e63. Plus points - full keyboard without being massive. Minus points - it's Symbian.
3) G1. Plus points - full keyboard and touch screen too. Minus points - I've yet to see a nice HTC device.

Thoughts?

For nine months, I've carried my iPhone everywhere in my pocket, with no case. I've dropped it onto tiles or concrete half a dozen times. The back and corners are scuffed to fuck, but other than that and a tiny, tiny hairline scratch on the screen it's fine.
Just get an iPhone. Or else.

It's surprisingly robust, isn't it. I have more scratches (very, very faint ones) on the back than on the screen (none), and it lives unprotected in my pocket almost all day. Granted, I make sure it's the only thing in that pocket; I'm not an idiot [citation needed, refused on grounds of falsity]
Hmm - I meant to post that in the 'New Phone' thread. Still, fuck it, eh?

If only there were some special powers you had to move posts.
STILL, FUCK IT, EH?
In exciting anticipation of my ability to do this wherever I may find myself, I am signed up as...

Don't expect anything interesting.

Edit - Oh shit, people are following me already. I can't take the pressure. :'(

Mrs Grim... has had two. She's dropped them both, and they both broke. She's waiting for a replacement for it now :(
There is no point in getting a G1 or an iPhone right now as updates for both are coming soon (April for the G2 (HTC Magic) and June for the iPhone).

WANT NOW.

The "new iPhone in June" is nothing more than a rumour mind, and one based on very slim evidence at that. Although it is logical as Apple launched iPhone models in June/July of 2007 and 2008. Bah, I wrote all this up in that blog post, I should finish it.
As has been said about three times in this thread already, the G2 isn't a direct replacement for the G1 as it doesn't have a keyboard (amongst other things). The new iPhone might be worth waiting for, but only if they increase the RAM, flash and camera. I assume v3 of the firmware will work on all previous iPhone interations.
Get the G1, then. It's cheaper and if all you want to use it for is Twitter, that's probably the best choice.

It's a rumour I believe, but you should make your own mind up before you spend/don't spend cash moneys.

What? Are you disputing the Magic doesn't have a keyboard? (Aside, can we stop calling it the G2 please, because it isn't, because T-Mobile passed on it, at least here in the UK. It might launch in the US on T-Mobile as the G2, just to confuse matters.)
This is the Twitter thread. *slaps forehead* Why is Craster such a knob?

No, I'm disputing that it's been mentioned in this thread.
I thought this was the 'new phone' thread. Grim... has out-pedanted me for once.

*shakes fist*
Twitterfall is awesome -- here's "gmail" for example.
Favourite quote so far.

I have now added everyone on that front page listing. I now expect to get distracted by Twitter even more frequently as a result.
My phone has been going off every half an hour or so now I've added twitter to it.

I don't think I'd want my phone to beep when I received a tweet, even if the iPhone could do that, which it can't.
I think it does a check every 30 mins and just makes a single tweet if there are fresh ones. In the notifications it tells me how many there are. Kinda cool for now. :)

That would simply be a recurring 30 minute beep for me. There would always be new ones!
I thought I had better join the 'twitter' group

Yeah, but that's what I need. I only ever remember to go on there when this thread gets bumped.
I guess my ex girlfriend is a stupid slag.
I now have more people following me (over 40) than I am following. I realise that this is down to forgetting to add those that added me recently, but I will have my brief moment in the sun before remedying this.
