Poor Craster getting the blame.
In other news, the '6 of Berserkers/Demo/Firebug' matches were pretty fun! And I didn't fancy any of the classes before, but they're all good fun! I was especially surprised by the Firebug, I mean videogame flamethrowers are usually shit.
Thanks for squeezing me into your slot guys.

Need to spend much more time on this really, still feel like I'm floundering half the time.
I want to clarify something about how my healing darts work.

Every time I shoot you with them, they heal about 19 hitpoints (the amount scales with my level). The more times I shoot you, the more you are healed, as you'd expect. When I have my final loadout (all three guns), I can shoot seven darts in 5-10 seconds before I have to wait for them to recharge.

But: that healing is delivered at a rate of 10 hitpoints per second, during which time you have a blue glow around you. That rate is fixed. If I shoot you multiple times, the rate doesn't increase, it just lasts longer. This means if you're very low on health it takes a good ten seconds or so to get you back up. It also means if you're taking active damage at the same time you can still get killed if it's coming in faster than I can heal it -- this is why I'll often hoof a boost grenade at people pinned in corners, as that's extra healing.

(Aside: the recharge rate for healing darts is per-gun, so I can be shooting darts from the medic shotty while waiting for the pistol to recharge. This is why I rush getting my second and third guns, and often ask for cash in early waves so I can do so.)
The people who played last night might have heard us talking about this megaguide some of us have been reading. It's here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =834945919

It's bloody enormous. Worth at least a skim through, every bit of it has good advice, tactics, and tricks. Cras finding the bit about kneecapping FPs with the RPG saved our arses multiple times last night.
Like , I'm sure we do all of these things in "Teamwork: things not to do" multiple times per game.

Honourable exception: last night on the icy map (Outpost?) we camped the helipad area. MrChris volunteered to keep an eye on the right hand spawn, where trash drops in from the higher platform, while the rest of us held the big chokepoint around the doors. For the first time I can remember, no trash made it through our cordon. That was great, we smashed that wave.
I would read it, but the author is completely up his own arse, so I won't.
Nah, he's alright.

Don't play survivalist.

That's a great spot, if you've got someone to watch the overhang, and if they happen to be a commando so they can actually spot the stalkers.
Right, time to level survivalist, I guess.
I'd rather play survivalist than Sharpshooter.

Also, bad news for you ramp fetishists, ramps are bad. Along with most of the perks, most of the weapons...

Well; you also have to keep in mind that that is a guide with a pretty specific goal: beating Hell on Earth as efficiently as possible, a difficultly level we're unlikely to ever make a dent in. Which the OP freely admits involves a level of discipline and commitment many people might not enjoy, and he also concedes that if you're good enough you can do less optimal things and still win. There's a lot of wriggle room for us on lower difficulty levels; we can take his advice where we like it and ignore it where we don't. I think the most valuable parts are where he points out ideas we hadn't even thought of (again, like kneecapping Fleshpounds, or Boomstick vs big zeds.)

Or in other words, ramps 4 eva.

Also he doesn't outright say that any perk is bad, except for Survivalist (and I entirely understand his reasons for that one.) He says some are only powerful in a limited set of circumstances, is all. Note that he rates Firebug, which he is fairly down on for normal play, as being very powerful against the bosses, for example.
Can't believe it took me so long to play fire bug.
Fuck ramps. It's the one thing that he's right about.

Burn all the things!
When are we going to try suicide? We were smashing it last night so I think we're ready to move on. Or do we all really need level 25 like the fun guide says? It's been wrong about pretty much everything else.

After you go to bed, it turns out ;)

That bit mostly recommends level 20, depending on the perk, and (like most of the rest of the guide) that's a recommendation more for Hell on Earth, not so much for Suicidal.
Ignore the No-Fun Guide.

Use the Fun Guide as a source of inspiration but not a holy script. There's plenty in there that's good.

Führer, you say? Hmm. Sounds familiar ;)

First Kleek, now Kult?!
Obey the Holy Book! Never ever use the SCAR-H... For some reason.

I think the Fun Guide is both right and wrong about that, as I tried to explain last night.

I daresay its calculations are right, and the SCAR's extra damage doesn't take most enemies down any sooner because it takes the same number of bullets as the AK-12. And I absolutely agree that the SCAR's clip size (20) is irritatingly small, and can get you mobbed at inopportune monents (that's happened to me several times). Taken together, I can see why the SCAR is underwhelming, and the FG suggests skipping it entirely. (It's also expensive to buy and to fill with ammo.)

But the calculations are for headshots and for HoE, so I suspect the SCAR might be usefully better than the AK-12 for body shots and on other difficulty levels. Maybe; it feels good in use but that can be deceptive. There's some massive spreadsheet that gives you all the damage values so we could work this out if we really want to.

The AK-12 is a beast though. I really like all the Commando guns.
It's been annoying me for ages but I've been trying to ignore it. But now I've finally got to say something. It should be 'du jour'
I have a feeling that the maths the No-Fun Guide is based on only really apply fully to 6 man hell-on-earth playthroughs as level 25 perks. If you're a lower level on lower difficulty with a different number of players it may be different..
Yes, I think so too. I wouldn't read too much into some of the conclusions. Other bits are more useful to us, like the kneecapping FleshPound example.

But it's a play on "Belle De Jour".
I....really don't think it is.
Really enjoyed it last night, I felt much more in control and got my first level 10 perk!

Also survived my first boss wave :DD

Then you all left me. :'(
FFS, impossible to get a game with randoms. Tried messing with settings but zilch :(
Try creating an empty party, then setting the length of the game to a value rather than 'any'. Create the party as soon as you get in the game. Then press search.
As soon as I made that post I got in a game :D

Yeah, read up on some game finding tips, cheers though Pundy.
Started a game on Hard with randoms as a level 0 Bezerker. It didn't go well.
I daren't try hard with Rando Calrissians because half of them are fucking useless on Normal. Now some are newbs, so they can be excused. Others are rank 10+ and are still scarily inept. I saw a level 13 commando who solely used gunslinger weapons last night.
I was turkeying for a game... I was willing to risk anything.

If you're running away from the healing grenades that's your choice, man.
Not when I have no idea they're there. And there's no darts
