I need to buy one of those. It’s definitely the bottleneck in my PC now.

I managed to get use of a GTX 1060 6GB so my GTX 970 has been moved to the "server", mainly to help with Plex stuff (hardware encoding assistance). Unfortunately, anything other than idling at the desktop causes the PSU to cut out. Hence, new PSU. Long overdue, truth be told

Edit: "Cool story, bro"
“Get use”

Is that code for ‘stole from work’? ;)
I bought an original press kit for one of my favourite flimums. The owner used it for notes on reviewing it. I think they liked it.

You cracked my code. Are you a detective?

But seriously. Yes.
That dude's handwriting is awful. He has nice turn of phrase though.
i suspect it was done in theatre at a premiere/first screening, so therefore dark and probably packed with other journos

You are almost certainly correct about the messy handwriting. That would have been handed out at a “press” screening for reviewers. Generally happens the week before the premiere but can happen much much earlier from time to time.
Nah, it was me all along!

Just taking notes on the throne.

Not a bad watch.. I have been looking at the 935/945, still a bit pricey

At £130 I think it does everything I need (a big display saying "faster!"). Then, MrsA wanted one, too.

For £130, I was hoping for something a fair bit less plastic-y. Bit disappointed, to be honest. I took it from the box and joy was not sparked. I'll keep it, but it looks like a £15 watch from the 1990s

The radio controlled car looks fucking the bomb though.
More nerd grist to the mill.
Bikes. Lots of bikes and bike parts......

Maybe flooring out the attic wasn't such a good idea lmao.
PSU made a noticeable difference in volume. PC is now eerily quiet unless under load. Money well spent

Delicious, can't wait till you get a double x

Don't bikes work better at ground level?

Some of them are very old and very heavy. Better to look at than ride. It's more a collection now than loads I ride on. I do ride three of them regularly though :)
WTF!? I can't see what you are jabbering about.

In some ways, you're absolutely correct.

Having now used it, I think it is ace
I have bought a banjo! Anyone who can play the fiddle, bass, washboard or jug is welcome to come join my bluegrass band. I have a porch but you have to have your own denim bib overalls.
I'm trying to add a photo of my lovely new air conditioner, but something seems to be broken (the upload window never disappears). Probably my end. Or some bit of the internet's melted.

Have you tried switching the internet off and on again?
I see you have a romantic evening planned.
What time you popping round?

Seems to work ok on my phone. Odd. Oh well. Air-con-me-do-oh-yes!
Picked up another handheld Mega Drive, the Retrogen.

The Retrogen is on the left, the Pocket MD is on the right. Not sure which is better yet - the Retrogen has six buttons and is region-free, although I prefer the Pocket MD screen.
That disk shaped d-pad looks rough

Yup. It feels pretty crap to use too. I'll mainly be using it to test MD carts anyway, so at least it'll be for light use.
That button placement looks a bit off too...
The one on the right is a pretty stupid design. When you're making a thing that exists entirely and only to play Megadrive games why in the name of fuck would you use the Playstation's button layout and labelling? I mean obviously the answer is, "Because that what they had lying around shitty Chinese knock-off factory that it was built in", but still.

It's an odd design generally. It didn't come with a charger so it was dirt cheap, but I notice the connector was the same as the GBA SP, so I wondered if it started off being a GBA clone at first.

At least SNES owners are better served with the Supaboy, with its better layout and even support for original controllers

I've always been tempted by one of those but I don't own enough SNES cartridges to make it viable.

I also own several handheld devices that will play SNES games but that's not the point.
TheVision wrote:

Oh, that's never the point. :D I've got 15+ actual SNES consoles piled up at the moment, but if I can't resist a new retro gadget.

That reminds me - when using the Retro Freak console and using the feature that dumps the cartridge ROM to the memory card so that you can play it without, I seem to have unlocked some Easter eggs along the way -

1) Transfer something like 50 games to the device - unlocked some sound effect (no idea where this is.. it just popped up as a message)
2) Transfer 100 games to the device - it played a five-minute scrolling animation thing all about the reason for keeping retro games alive, with music, end credits and a photo of someone's cat. :)
Deebot is great! He spent a hour today, beavering away, and my floor has never been so clean.
Deebot looks very similar to the robot vacuum cleaner we have bought and swapped/refunded from Aldi many times.
Deebot also looks very similar to Sucky Carl who tries his best to keep my carpets clean.

If you put only two on it I'll be disappointed.
Do the wheels jam up on Deebot? I had to return a robovac because that kept happening and was getting annoying. It was a cheapo brand I'd never heard of with suspiciously good reviews, however. When it worked it was brilliant, even daring to go under my bed.
Hmm, not really. It does need a clear floor though, or it'll wind cables up and get sad and beep at you.

Sounds totally like the Aldi one. Sterling, it was called.

But then, with 3 kids 2 dogs and 1 cat it was always going to have a tough job.

Ohh, nice! what make? Five string? open back or resonator?

(the pedant in me says "Bluegrass is generally banjo, bass, guitar and mandolin, what you are suggesting is a jug band or possibly skiffle band")
