Alright, smartarse :D I wasn’t sure if rocketbooks were the reusable ones. I know there are some with pages that look like paper but are made of stone, and some that you photograph and it digitalises your work (these three qualities may all be in the same product, that’s why I was asking).

This allows me to photograph my notes ant automatically puts them in my works onenote.

I am still thinking about a coffee machine but the choice is too vast.

Oh my, isn't there just..... and there's a lot of snobbery too.

When we looked at getting a coffee machine, I thought that I really wanted one of those super fancy ones with all the bells and whistles, something that takes water, beans and milk can do any of the varieties automatically. We didn't get one of those, and I'm actually glad we didn't, as having yet another thing to clean out thoroughly at the end of each day (so you don't have clogged up yucky milky bits) would have ended up being a pain and I suspect we wouldn't have got full use out of the fanciness anyway.

We got a DeLonghi 'Magnifica S' in the end - it grinds the beans, does the compacting and whatnot, and dispenses hot coffee. It does have the steam wand thingy that can froth milk if required. I felt that something like that is a reasonable starting point and we are happy. Around 3 years later it's going strong. When it dies, we'd buy another one that is broadly similar - so this is (for us) a good level.

I suspect that the money we've saved by not buying takeaway coffees has covered the cost of the machine.
New mower (sorry.... MOWAH) blades - I've never bothered changing the blades on a mower before. I probably wouldn't have bothered where it not for the fact that I accidentaly/carelessly mowed over a big bit of wood and bend all the old blades right up
We bought a Moccamaster KBG Select for our coffee (along with a Wilfa Svart burr grinder) - no complaints at all about it, although we both have our coffee black so don't need any fancy milk frothers or anything like that.

We have black coffee. I just got a delonghi burr grinder
You put the granules in the cup and then add water. Boom, coffee

(Hopefully) every English variation on an Alien boxset (one more is on the way, but technically that's Japanese).

Well, I've just learned there's a VHS version of Alien Legacy in the states.

There might be another photo in the future :)
Do you have this?

Noooooooooooooiiiiiiice.

I assume the Japanese one on the way is the Quadrilogy Alien Head?

I do, but mine has a black cover with an egg on. A reprint, maybe?

Nah - maybe one day, if they ever drop below £500. Also I think the head looks a bit naff, to be honest.

The one I got is this one, which - as you can see - is lovely to look at: https://www.avpgalaxy.net/dvds-bluray/a ... y-edition/

Same. Also not exactly practical!

Ooh, that is nice. Although I'm not sure about the description on that page (on AvPGalaxy no less) saying that it contains "Alien 4".

Semi-relatedly, up until a couple of years ago I had one of the Master Replicas motion trackers, which I paid £200 for. I sold it for just over £500 on eBay (if memory serves) because I needed the cash at the time - I checked on them the other day and they're now approaching double that. I really should have kept hold of it. Gah.
I still think I have that, but what I found was this:

I have that somewhere I think
Odd that both books have the almost the same cover and almost the same name
That second book in the omnibus is blessed with some terrible copy and design decisions.

First came Alien. No one knew what would come next (Aliens).

The stunning sequel to Alan Dean Foster.
ADF wrote the Covenant novelisation, too.
But not Resurrection (sorry, Alien 4) - I always found the novelisation of that to be far more engaging than the movie, as it allows you to read the inner monologues of Ripley 8, which just doesn't really come across in the film at all.
And it talks about Call being a Christian, which fascinated me.
Don't remember that, tbh. I'm probably overdue a re-read of the lot of them, last time I read through them was when I was a teenager.
GazChap wrote:

It may have only been a couple of lines. It was something like:
Quote:
"You're a Christian? Huh. I didn't realise you were programmed for that."
Call didn't answer. She wasn't programmed, she had read The Book and she believed.

But I was all over that.

The expanded universe stuff by Steve Perry (Earth Hive, Nightmare Asylum and The Female War) is worth a read, too.
Yeah, read all of those after the novelisations - probably worth a re-read as well, tbh. Genocide was alright (think that was the fourth one in the series?) but yeah, not as good as those three.

Music Of The Spears and Labyrinth were pretty decent too.
I think the chronology gets a bit sketchy after those three. The others are fairly standalone.

But do you have a copy of Aliens: Colonial Marines?
Yup, two copies. One of them came with the power loader figure you can see.
Ordered another watch that I don’t really need
New cheap mower until I can get the monster petrol mower fixed. To be honest, it's cheap but it works fine and might just use this as the main mower
I was looking for new trainers for Bean and found what are clearly the best shoes ever and they had them in my size, so now we have matching shoes!

We are so cool.
Lovely! They mean that you now can't say the Skittles line, "Taste the Rainbow!" without seeming gangsterish, but I think that's a price worth paying.
Nice, where are they from?

I think from Next.
I’m so sorry! I mean to find you out the link yesterday but I must have got diverted as I was doing it and forgot I hadn’t answered. Indeed, they are from next. Look in the kids section, ‘Little Bird’
Thank you! Will have a look next time we are in big Next. Fop the youngest has a thing for such stripes
New dishwasher. Living the dream.
I’ve bought a PS5. Add it to the list of games machines that get used once a fortnight!

I’ve also bought a Festool diamond cutting tool with a dust extraction port, as I have some wall chasing to do. That will probably get used even less frequently than the PS5, but anyone who has ever used an angle grinder to chase lines in walls for cables will know, the mess is akin to throwing a hand grenade into a flour warehouse. I think.
This thing captures about 95% of the mess, which means you can still see what you’re doing 30 seconds after starting
