OK, Harry, we've got it.
I think Russ actually hates escape room games but is just gaming the finish 52 challenge.

Oh he absolutely is. He's got enough for next year too!
7 of my 39 completions so far are not escape games, but actually I do like them, hence downloading everything this developer had to offer.
You might be a bit sick of them after 100 though.

Are you sick of iRacing after doing it for more than 60 hours?

No, because I'm in a process of continual improvement. Also it's part social activity too.

It was a cowboy who had become trapped in a lighthouse. I was just helping him out.
Ah yes, lighthouses, those well known things from the old west.
I think I saw them open for Frank Turner one night.
Lonewolves wrote:

Well exactly, so when a lost cowboy wandered in to the lighthouse on the beach he was understandably confused and managed to get himself locked in.
Can your dwarf cowboy dog who was hidden by mom escape the fortified lighthouse room (which is in a cave hospital)?
So I mean, does this count as bullying...?
Because it's kind of putting me off wanting to either play these games, or post here.
Really?

Sorry if I've contributed to that. I thought it was light-hearted ribbing at the very most. It certainly wasn't meant to upset you.

We hear enough about Myp's boring iRacing and he even made a thread about it, so don't worry about it!

That's pretty spot on, to my mind.

Russ - no malicious intent, just light amusement at the genre, not at you.
Davpaz for mod!

That's how I read it too. Just poking fun at the titles and premises.
OK, I'm back. Love you :D
To be honest Russ, it's made me want to look into these games so keep it up!

Well, some are much better than others. The rubbish ones seem to have more in the way of code sequences being hidden behind objects and then having to remember and input those elsewhere, and I don't enjoy those ones as much, so they get deleted, but there are others that are very much core point and click puzzlers which I vastly prefer.

It's like a mini Monkey Island I can complete in ten minutes.
I like those. What's the best one?
Grim... wrote:

The ones with the sequels tend to be best in my opinion. Jail escape was very fun, as was Escape Rooms.

The developer is Arul Mani for loads of these.

Is the first one free and the sequels paid for? That would explain why that is.

No, they're all ad-supported, so steer clear if you hate ad popups.

34. Small Radio Big Televisions: so, this is a weird one. Mechanically, you explore a set of facilities hunting for tapes (i.e. Memorex style blank audio cassettes with labels scrawled on them) then exploring the small vignettes inside each tape for keys (actually glowing green orbs but they're used as keys) that let you access further into the facility. There are mild environmental puzzles to solve and each facility has a couple of tape scrubbers which corrupt the tapes you're carrying and reveal further keys inside them. None of that probably sounds too odd but it's the aesthetic that makes it. Everything is viewed through an odd filter that makes it looks both new and old at the same time. Similarly the sound track is made up of a bunch of hazy dream-like ambient pieces which don't force their way into your perception but are instantly noticeable when they change or stop. This extends to the tapes themselves which, in their vanilla form, are usually clean-ish and normal looking scenes (e.g. a mountain, a forest, a river) but which are warped to varying degree by the scrubber to become weird and twisted versions of themselves. There's an over-arching story which is alluded to in cut scenes between levels but it's not fleshed out enough to become particularly meaningful to my mind. The game itself is slightly let down by the fact that in a couple of parts you waste lots of time just navigating the levels and the gameplay itself isn't strong enough to stand that but it only happened a couple of times and not enough to colour my overall positive experience with the game. If you're looking for something short and weird with a unique aesthetic then it's definitely a goer; and currently very cheap in the Adult Swim Humble Bundle.

I had a very brief look at the Unity engine but I think the app store is massively overcrowded now.

Another match-three game done. Slept with all twelve women (ok, nine women, one fairy, the goddess Venus, an alien and a submissive cat-woman). And if that sounds a bit grubby, once you sleep with them, you get their underwear as a souvenir and once you have all twelve, you can trade them in to unlock some hardcore 'alpha' mode. By then, I'd lost interest, so I'll leave it there.

Good puzzle gameplay, but I'd hope the dating bit isn't representative of other dating games as I'm not sure asking a woman 'what cup size she's rocking' or her weight are necessarily great chat-up lines.
Yo gurl, want cup size you rockin'?

Absolutely beautiful art direction in places and has got to be one of the best looking games out there when you're not staring down a nightvision camera, which shows that the studio, Red Barrels, have barrels of talent (Ho Ho). But 90% of the time you'll be using the nightvision so all that talent has gone to waste.

I've got a lot of time for Outlast but this sequel pissed me off no end. It has a convoluted story told terribly with rubbish voice actors destroyed any immersion I had in the story. I was so mad that all the work on the graphics and world building could be undone just employing your mate to read some lines from a script typed by a twelve year old. Actually, I'd had enough of the body horror on show during my playthrough since it was overdone and could have been scaled back to give more impact. The setting of the original leant itself to this style of run and hideathon and Resi 7 has showed you can reduce the size of your play area and still retain the impact of the horror setting, but here the setting is a sprawling mess that you run through once and never return to so you don't have time to have a good game of hide and seek because you don't linger long enough to memorise the area and you'll mainly just be running through each area to the next.

I'm massively disappointed with this. Let's hope Red Barrels try something different on their next go around. They've certainly shown that they've got the ability to create a fascinating beautiful horror filled world now they just need to make a decent game in it.

Just having a look at story discussions and it seems that you have to look at some website and comics to get the full picture. That's bad story telling and a load of old bollocks.
