The 'Nay!' but 'Yay!' Thread

I did my CBT about 6 years ago. I fell off the bike while doing the car park bit, because I'm apparently an idiot, but once I got the hang of it and went out on the roads I too was terrified.

Vowed never to ride a motorbike from that day on. Too many idiots on the road, myself included ;)
Motorbikes are big, hard, clever, and make you more attractive to all genders

You have become a lot less attractive since you sold it

Not like I can get them in labour anymore

I kinda feel the same as this, but by the same token I now want a little bike to go bezzing around the roads to see if the terror dissipates with experience.

Yes, it does. But you must never get complacent.
Your next step is to buy an Aprilia rs125
Is that a genuine suggestion for a complete novice?

The instructor was talking about the Honda Varadero 125.

Yeah, that is good shout

The rs125 is a race rep and I am trying to live vicariously.

In all honesty, just get the bigger licence asap, and get a commuting 500cc thing. Cost would be about th let same and it is better. It is what I should have done
Yes, Sat needs it for his commute from the bedroom to the other bedroom.

I think I’ll learn how to balance at low speeds properly before I commit automotive suicide. I’ve only had a single day’s lesson!

On the plus side, it made me hyper-aware of other cars on the road, which I feel has made me a better car driver too.

Can confirm, you are excellent when it comes to giving other road users space, particularly cyclists etc.

Shame about your road positioning though.

I’m on holiday in Cornwall, and have a lovely view over the village including the local church.
Unfortunately the bells ring ever 15 minutes night and day so sleep can be interrupted.

Whereabouts?

They’re probably situated inside the church tower.

And the tower is in St Neot

Fowey is on our list of places to visit so we’ll check it out, ta.

Correct pronunciation is 'Foy', just in case. But I think you already know that. And note Looe is next to Flushing which always amuses me.
Nay my mum has had a fall so I jumped on my bike and then the train and made my way over in a panic

Yay? When you exit the station it goes down a steep hill. I had two choices, road or grass verge next to road.

Seems I chose wisely as there was a car crash and I'd have been in it.

Fucking mad day!
Weird one...

Nay! The work fridge is set too cold so the milk has frozen overnight

Yay! The frozen milk meant my morning brew was at a drinkable temperature immediately
How did you get frozen milk into a cup?
Hearthly wrote:

It wasn't in a cup. It was in a plastic bottle

Nay - my little boy had a five minute cry because he asked for a bowl of porridge with a picture of Bob Ross on it made out of chocolate sauce, and what I actually made him was this:

Yay - it was kind of funny.
Looks more like Rolf Harris

Bobby!!!

Yeah, I said to my ma that it looked unfortunately Rolf-like.
My three year old purchased, and paid for, a £150 set of golf clubs on eBay. It was a total accident, and is little digits just hit exactly the wrong things. He knew he’d done something wrong and we both had a gentle but panicky cry.

But he picked himself up and comforted me. He told me everything would be ok. He said he knew what would make me feel better (a bubble bath) and put moisturiser on my face to make me better. He told me not to cry because it would all be ok.

And it was. The seller (his real and actual name is James Blunt, amazingly) was really sweet and refunded me as soon as he found out from my panicky message what had happened. And I had that bath. It will be a funny story one day
My company has relocated to a new premises that is further away...

So far it's taken me less time to get to and from work though as the route has a much better traffic flow!

Great new swanky offices that were once the headquarters of Leyland DAF trucks, much nicer working environment and I'm sat with a great bunch but my position (right at a window with a lake* view!) means I don't get to browse and post "high quality content" as frequently.

Nay: Went to the bank and it had sodding closed at 4 fucking thirty.

Yay: Paid my cheque in using my phone instead. Tch.
I still deliver multiple chequebooks a week, which is amazing as I’ve not written a cheque in maybe ten years.
The only cheque I've written in the last decade was the mandatory £50 court fee for my divorce.
We have a cheque book solely for paying nursery fees, though even that we’ve now become the only parents to pay by bank transfer.
This time last year, we lost my dad.

To mark the anniversary, this morning we have donated £1500 to the hospice that cared for him in his final days. We've got another £1500 to go to Prostate Cancer UK later this week.
Nice work dude, that's a fab amount.
Let's pretend this is the Yay but Nay thread.

YAY: I'm meant to be going to see Doves tonight in Brighton.
NAY: We inadvertently threw away our tickets.*

Best part of £90 down the drain. And have wanted to see them for years. Gutting.

*It's also possible I simply put them somewhere I thought they'd be safe, and am no longer able to recall it.
Tickets are stupid. Pieces of paper that they post to you! In 2019!
Indeed. A ticket that you have to hold in your hand? That's for babies.

If you bought them electronically there's a chance that they may be able to issue you a phone copy.
@findus Fop have you tried contacting the venue yet?
Myp somehow managed to get some gig tickets sent to his Ex’s house, we contacted the venue and they reprinted them and had us pick them up from the box office. I also managed to lose some tickets and that venue did the same, just had to take some ID and pick new ones up.
Ironic Ollie (the dog) woke me at 5.00 this morning. (Nay)

It was because he needed to be let out for a pony, which is a lot better than leaving a steaming pile somewhere in the house. (Yay).

Good boy.

Well, first of all I tweeted doves last night for help, but no response (from their managed Twitter account).

Then I did as you suggested and contacted See Tickets today using their online form and within an hour they said there would be replacement tickets waiting for me at the venue.

Which is pretty fucking excellent.

Cheers!

Glad you got it sorted. I only saw this just now and was going to offer that exact advice as I’m a total mess and have done this more than once in the past :D
