What about cake?

Really depends on the type, booze sodden fruit cake will be fine in a tin, cream type cakes better in the fridge I would think?

Only for keeping the cream fresh for a bit longer. The sponge will go all weird and stodgy.
I find cake does not last that long :)
Definitely doesn't in my house.

Eggs Benedict is one of my favourite breakfasts.

God yes. They do one round here with soft shell crabs on the muffins and jalapeño hollandaise. It's fucking incredible. I may have it tomorrow.

Cafe 'round the corner from my old place do a pulled pork Benedict on cornbread: http://static.wixstatic.com/media/fd149 ... f11efd.jpg

It wasn't flawless (I always felt like it was 50% more cornbread than I needed) but it was pretty good.
ProTip: leave half the cornbread

Nope, that autocorrect will do
Someone should make a "things mimi said" website to keep track of all these awesome autocorrects.

You're no pro, son.
Actual protip: add more eggs and hollandaise.
Actual pro tip - throw away the poached eggs and hollandaise, fry the egg, put it on some bacon and put it in a bun with some ketchup, YOU FUCKING POSH TWAT.
You're the worst person who's ever existed.
That's as may be but I'm still right.
Once again it is DEATH FOOD time.

Dried white rice that is over three years past its BEST BEFORE date. For the record, it has been opened (albeit folded over with a clothes peg on it), for several years, and stuck at the back of a cupboard.

If I don't make it I hereby bequeath my entire collection of Custom PC mags to myp.

I wouldn't have much of a concern over that. I reckon you're absolutely fine.
I wouldn't eat it myself just because it's been open for three years and will probably not taste very nice, but you should survive.
Can I send you stuff that's out of date to see if you'll eat it?

Stuff like this chinese sauce mix?

Is that from your parents?

I once found some food colouring in my nan's larder that ran out in 1973. Before pretty much anyone here was born (Warhead, Cavey, I apologise for your oldieness). I reckon it was made from plutonium or something. It was yellow.
Yes. My mother has AE's approach to best before dates.
Oh lumme, more than 21 years past use by date? People would seriously eat this?
I think Hearthly needs to chow down this, ahem, fine vintage Chinese sauce, because I'm just not impressed by 2013 rice. :D

Fuck, March 1995... that was a long time ago.

:D

Yep, I was around in '73, I was even going to school by then! :)
To be fair, I'd be more worried about the actual chemical content of colourings from the early 70s rather than whether they were fresh or not; I seriously doubt anything could survive on the shit anyway.

My reflux precludes such shenaigans, I am afraid. This may have to be for bragging points only.

No probs mate. You're on. :)
