I'm a bit like this at the moment. IW is paused on the ultimate cliff edge making anything else in the universe right now a bit like wasted effort.

I understand the need to set stuff up for her to be in part 2, but that doesn't change my existential ennui around it all :D

Hush, you.
Did they get the Black Panther animation team on that space fight cause that looked like trash.
We are due an Avengers 4 trailer shortly, I wonder if they did Captain Marvel first because she'll also be in the Avengers 4 trailer.

I'm not sure I can fully articulate the way I'm feeling but it seems like the stakes keep getting higher and the super heroes more powerful and the music more tense and dramatic, and yet instead of 'wow she can fly in space and shoot lasers and shit that's amazing' my feeling is one of mild indifference, as she's clearly going to save the day by overcoming a struggle and becoming even more powerful. Probably by flying a bit faster through space or shooting a bigger laser out of every orifice and limb or something.

Also, as Craster says, back to IW with some real risk and danger of loss.

Maybe after all that it'd be nice to have some smaller scale adventures where it isn't the whole world/galaxy/universe/multiverse in jeopardy. Or maybe some simpler powers, but smartly used.

I read this nodding along and then immediately considered the plots of each of the Iron Man films and reverted back to wanting the universe to be at the edge of extinction.
Isn't Captain Marvel ultimately about a brainwashed super soldier rediscovering her humanity?

With explosions, face punching and slo-mo, natch.

This is why I prefer origin story superhero films as I find it far more interesting to see how a hero or villain gets their powers as that tends to involve more in the way of story and drama. Once everyone is all powered up, it's a load of dull CGI fights from then on.

That's certainly an amusing way to phrase it and I chuckled.

Iron Man 3 was a bit pants (although I enjoyed Ben Kingsley in it) but I personally thought 1 and 2 were good fun and liked them.

Other than the trailer, I know pretty much nothing about Captain Marvel. I genuinely don't know if much of the general movie-going public would either.

I don’t think most people knew of/understood/gave two shiny shits about Black panther, and that film just kept getting bigger audiences after week 1.

Iron Man 3 is my favourite Iron man film. I think all the films in the MCU after Avengers Assemble are better than all the films in the MCU before Avengers Assemble.

wrt MCU films with Iron man in, it goes something like Assemble > Civil War > Infinity > Homecoming > 3 > Ultron > 1 > 2

Yeah, but BP was distinctly average, people just liked it because it was "cool" to like it...

(Runs away)
Nah, it’s genuinely one of my favourites. Don’t be on the Sat side of history here, Troops. Or are you just “toying” with us?
You didn't find the lead actor utterly soulless and he sucked the life out of any scene he was in?

Nope!

Hey, I never said it was cool to like it. It ‘was’ average (I’d say below average, really), had a boring main character, stupid nano suits, a crap plot with a pointless ‘death’, zero risk to the main character, was tremendously boring and had awful CGI.

Them’s the highlights.

What? Do you even have eyes?!
The CGI was pretty awesome to be fair, but the movie bored me.

Giphy nailed it for once

Edit: Twice!
Giphy always nails it. Not its fault if you're too feeble to understand its mighty references.

Maybe I was under ice for 70 years after saving the world. Have you considered that?

I thought T'challa was the most boring character in Black Panther. Literally everyone else is more interesting.
Fucks sake. I want to watch it now. Waiting sucks

Part of the journey is the waiting.
I remember wondering how the hell Ant-Man was going to get out of the microverse at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp. I wonder if the whole 'the laws of physics don't work normally at that scale' thing is going to be part of the overall plan to reverse Thanos' shenanigans.

By god he’s right, just use reverse quantum-shenanigans.

There's a really high chance that whatever they use as a get-out clause is going to be a similar level of eye-rolling horseshit. I expect to enjoy all the character moments surrounding it all but if they come up with something genuinely clever and interesting I'll be amazed.
Time travel via quantum thingummibobs.
They just appeal to Thanos'es's's better nature and he reverses everything.
I just hope that there is some actual sacrifice made in order to reset everything. It can just be a straightforward reset button.

He can't.

Aren't they resetting the heroes soon? I thought 'a set of new cheap actors' was the next phase of the MCU.

If you mean recasting, I doubt it.

If you mean killing off some of the OG Avengers, and having a few retire, I very much imagine so.

I think Stark will die (maybe not before creating an AI version of him with his voice that can control a suit), and I think Cap will retire (maybe to come back in a Nick Fury-eque role many years down the line).

Hulk ain't gonna die but Ruffallo might retire and they can just CGI him without needing to do any motion Capture. They only just got Thor totally right with Ragnorok, so I imagine he'll get another solo movie, but maybe stop being an Avenger.

The New Avengers being made up of Black Panther, Ant Man, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Dr Strange would make plenty of sense.
Cap's gonna die
DavPaz wrote:
Cap's gonna die

I do think Endgame is going to be his movie, especially given the role Red Skull played in Infinity War, and how he was a fairly minor part of it.
Not sure how Cap could ‘retire’ unless he gets broken in some way. He’d never be one to shy away from responsibility. Maybe he gets turned into Weedy Steve Rogers. That’d do it.

Maybe some of the OG Avengers get left in some other dimension or something.

But yeah, there has to be a degree of sacrifice or it’ll be lame. I just don’t want any of them to die (other than War Machine, who is literally the worst).

There are rumours that Bucky and Falcon are gonna get a tv show on the new Disney streaming service, I think, but it is just conjecture at this point.

I think bringing through a new generation of heroes would be cool too. Like Ms Marvel, Squirrel Girl and stuff. Or it could all get crazy if they bring in the X-Men. And I think they’re going to do something with Eternals next too.

They have earned my trust for now.
Do you know which marvel film has the best cgi. Ant Man and the wasp, younger Lawrence fishburn was fucking voodoo.
Seems silly to do trailers for the next Spider-Man film before Endgame is released, unless it is somehow set before Infinity War.

Coz it features several people who got ‘decimated’.

Pffft, two heroes I didn’t want to see any more of. The dried toast of superheroes.
They're both so damned powerful they suffer from the Superman problem.
