Titanfall 2
For Xbox One / PS4 / PC

So around 12 mins or so I'm wrecking shit in my phat up Titan but it takes major damage and is about to pop.

But I've got the martyrdom perk equipped so I run into 3 titans (2 of which had only just dropped. Poor buggers) and do a nuclear explosion nailing all 3 of them. It's glorious but you kinda had to be there.

I've reached prestige and I've prestiged. Zaphod would be proud of me.
FREE DLC update: 2 new maps and a game mode. Available for download today.
I've added this to The List because the single player campaign got such a lot of love in all the reviews. Have any of you guys played it or did you all just fire into the multi player?
Single player is excellent. Really, really well put together. It's like someone took the meaty combat from FEAR, the mobility of Mirrors Edge and the puzzly-ness of Portal, added Big Stompy Robots and mixed it all up.

Wow, that's as compelling a recommendation of a game as I've read in a long time. Sweet!
I'm barely playing anything at all now except iRacing and phone games, but Titanfall 2 SP is excellent so far.
The only reason I've not picked this up is that I've no interest in the MP and the campaign although excellent is apparently a bit short.

But it's about £20 now!
If anyone was wondering how much better is TF2 than CoD then this is the weekend to find out*. Free weekend trial!

*Answer: much.

Huh, this includes one of the campaign levels so I'll probably grab it for a shot.

The campaign is soooo good!
I really should get round to playing this but when I think about playing a game these days, all I can think about it Zelda.
This seems to be holding its second hand price fairly well...
The pilot ejection into the dropship at the end of this vid was quite something!

Clearly he took all the luck from this guy:

I'm liking this game. I've spent a bit of time on the SP mode (which seems to be fairly engaging, although a little too platformy at times), but very little on MP. Any suggestions on what MP modes etc to play?
I've not even looked at Grim...'s vid, but I'm predicting it's the GTA guy who ejected from his plane, faceplanted the wing, then got hit by the burning wreckage on the way down.

How did I do?

10/10
Free Trial this week. Give it a go!
Foreplayer Co-op modes incumming.

I am loving this so far.

It is as smooth as Zardoz's heid and the bullets actually seem to have individual effects rather than it just adding to a meter at which point a death animation kicks in. The platforming aspects are so much more enjoyable than I thought they would be and the gunplay feels meaty and doom-like.

I've got this, Breath of the Wild, Forza Horizon 3 and Nex Machina to play at the moment and all of them are *really* good games for entirely different reasons and on three different formats. Modern gaming is great.
YES STOMPY STOMPY.

This is brilliant. Y'all should have said.

I didn't get past the first village.

FFS!

I'm now expecting "y'know, this Monster Hunter World game is really good!" In about 18 months.
£12.99 for the PS4 Ultimate Edition, FYI.
So I've just done the "Effect and Cause" level.

Holy shit, that's one of the cleverest things I have seen in a videogame in years and years and years.

The audio logs were amazing!
The "Ultimate Edition" of this is $10 on PSN USA right now, so I bought it. Dunno what you get with the Ultimate Edition, but I was only really interested in the single player anyway, and I am guessing it is multiplayer stuff.

Glad you kept playing.

It is MP stuff. Early unlocks of Titans and some guns.
I assumed something like that. The regular edition isn't discounted anyway, so it wouldn't have made a difference.

Hmm. It was indeed very clever. However, I'm finding the single player of this to be 50% an irritating instadeath platformer, and that level just gave it extra ways to be annoying.

Have you tried not sucking? That’s working well for me.

It's just tedious though. So much of the game feels like a problem solving platformer instead of a giant robot stompy shooter.
That's the best bit about it.
Wow... well, that’s an original complaint.

Maybe you’d be better off playing something like Harvest Moon, The SIMS or something more your speed.
Poor Craster. He can't help being rubbish.

Don't get me wrong, most of the on-foot shooty bits were great, and the in-titan bits are amazing (though in my view you unlock the best weapon early on, and have next to no reason to use any others). It just felt like it was desperate for an excuse to make me jump around like a pillock every possible chance it could.
It's in the download queue. Might be ready by Friday.
Well. This is rather pretty.
I am keeping an eye on this in Origin and will snag it next time it's on sale.

TBH I really enjoyed the first Titanfall, but it never quite gained any traction with our Saturday night crowd for some reason.

I'll only be buying the sequel for the campaign so don't want to spend too much, nothing will ever topple Battlefield/GTAV from our Saturday night games slot I would imagine.

I'm surprised EA haven't killed off the Titanfall franchise already, although now they've bought Respawn no doubt they'll 'Do a Battlefront 2' on whatever the studio makes next and totally fuck it up.
You can be in a robot THAT CAN PUNCH OTHER GIANT ROBOTS

Yeah the first one was great, although it didn't have a campaign (there was just a short single player tutorial).

Giant robots punching each other in the head, conceptually it's perfect. Or if they're not close enough to punch each other, shooting at other giant robots with huge fucking guns.

That's the ultimate sales pitch, right there.
