They're really rare! Most of them are opened with just one left.

Did anyone go to this?
Oh yeah. No. I would have liked to, though.
Did you get a J Nash photo?

Also, is "Turveyland" actual Turvey?

I did. It was pretty fun. :attitude: was genuinely funny and excellently snarky about various things, most of the rest of the panel were great and did their best.

Do you know if anyone was filming it? Even just a smartphone video uploaded to YouTube would be worth a watch.

I enjoy watching Stu in action, even if it's just him blatantly pretending on the telly that a PC DIMM holds fruit machine programs.

Not that I've yet seen. There are some photos on Twitter but they're all pretty sterile.

Knew I should have gone!

Kind of glad there're still no photos of Jonathan Nash. He was my favourite writer in my teens, and I greatly enjoyed taking at surface the cartoon image he crafted of himself. There's too little whimsy in this hard, cynical world, and I honour him for it. Let me keep my little joyful mysteries.

Glad it was a good time for all as well. Ahh, I miss AP.

Here's a recording of the evening. Not quite a video, but it'll do.
I was meaning to ask this the other day.

Many years ago now I procured an Amiga very late into its life. I would say, ooo, 1995? something like that. Any way, somewhere within the bog standard boot up there was an app that allowed you to type things and it would speak, much like Currah speech on the spectrum only miles better. In my boredom one day I decided to plug the Amiga into my tape recorder and type in "computer cusses" mainly about people's mothers and so on. The other night I was really laughing about it and was wondering if an emulator would do this? if so, what app is it that makes the Amiga do this? I'd love to recreate the sound files (I still remember what cusses they were and how they sounded, I'm so god damned mature).

It's strange that you say it was a very late Amiga, because this feature was actually removed in Workbench 3 and onwards (possibly even 2.1), probably to save on license fees.

Anyway, just boot up an unmodified Workbench disk, version 1.3 or 2.0, and there should be a program called Say in the Utilities drawer. The 2.0 version was improved quite a bit, so they don't sound the same.
The Amiga in a browser that someone linked to was workbench 2 I believe
Did they spoil the ending to Sinister Theme Park?

Thanks !
somebody tried the Armiga?
A naffo-o Android box that emulates the Amiga, yuck... (and only the Amiga 500??)

With an Amiga-compatible floppy drive BUILT IN? Woah. Now that's a start.

£95 for the Armiga, £135 for the floppy Armiga. Not really an impulse buy.

How much for JUST the floppy drive bit? :)

Ha ha ha, I did that too - I was copying (tape to tape on my 'ghetto blaster') the Foo Fighters first album* for my friend Brendan. Every now and then, I'd stop the tape and connect the stereo to the Amiga and have it say rude things like 'Brendan is a tramp' before going back to the music.

It came as a big surprise, it was very funny and everyone appreciated the joke, even trampy Brendan.

(* I think the other side was 'All Boro Kings' by Dog Eat Dog..... I'm not proud of buying that album, it was pants)

Pic I found elsewhere:

I must have had loads of time on my hands years ago as I took a song that my old band had recorded on my multi track, muted the vocals and replaced them with the Amiga talking.

I still have it somewhere... If there's any interest, I'll upload it.

Yup
That's enough for me! I'll find it out tonight for you.
Here you go, the quality is pretty poor as it was taped from a C90 but you get the idea... All done in my bedroom that!

*edit* I've also uploaded the original with proper lyrics so you can see what it's all about.
Ace! There's a D:Ream sort of feel to it... until Metal Mickey kicks in
Well, I suppose it could only get better.
I've just sold my amiga.

I have mixed feelings.
Is £100 what standard A1200s are going for these days?

Nope. He got a fucking bargain.

I packed my A1200 away the other day. I decided I needed the space more than I needed an Amiga to hand. At least the A600 still has a spot for now.

My Amiga is packed in the same box in my parents home since 96. I had a problem with a yellow screen back then. I have no idea if anything is still worth anything since my parents live next to the ocean in a very humid region. Maybe some slugs are living inside it.
Sad, but you have the retropie for actual gaming. I'm guessing it was just taking up space.
It was just going to decay in my loft. The guy who bought it is a collector of retro things.

Although he's just rung me and said it's not working. The first thing he did was open it up and pull out the accelerator.

Excellent stuff. The AP Archives are saved, finally!
I never understood why AMR doesn't archive every single page, every single advert, and every single Special Reserve catalogue index. Why have the capacity for completion and perfection in your grasp and deliberately ignore it?

Back when they were published, we would have skipped through the adverts to get to the content. These days, the adverts are one of the main things I want to see, as an illustration of life and prices in an era long since past.

:this:
I had a few speccy games delivered yesterday, and although it was nice to own stuff like Death Chase and Pyjamarama again, this little ad inside one of the games caught my eye the most -

Affordable recruitment - just stick a little bit of paper inside your game. :)
No email, no website, just an address and a telephone with the 01 prefix. For some reason, I always enjoy seeing an old sign or note that still has 01 as the dialling code for London.
I recently watched a 30 minute video of someone tinkering with their A500 (albeit accelerated, but it would apparently still work without) to send and receive emails.

Did I have an aneurysm or was there a secret release of the Bitmap Brothers Amiga game GODS currently floating around on the Xbox store?

Remember GODS? I thought it was decent back in days of yore. Better than Magic Fucking Pockets that’s for sure.

Turns out, I was completely lucid!

Here’s the trailer!

It has NEW graphics and OLD graphics. Frankly I’d rather have The Hulk tug me off aggressively than play this.

And the price? £16.49.

Go. Fuck. Yourselves.
