Crackdown 3:
"Down The Crack"
Reply
I made up that subtitle by the way. It's not really called Crackdown 3: Down the Crack. It should be. But it's not.

Anyway go here and click on the video and see buildings fall over in what is described as 100% destructible environments (in multiplayer). Yes, a building falls over. It looks neato:

Also, note the woman saying something like, connect to the Cloud and get more power than your Xbox one or something like that. I have no idea what it meant.
Beta: Summer 2016.

Release date: Many people will die and never play this before release. So 12 months, then.
Oh, it's XBONE only.

You'll probably get it on PC, sometime later. Probably.

Or you can Stream it from your Xbox One to your PC !!!!

(if you own an Xbox one and a PC running Windows 10)

The blog continues: "Crackdown 3 will also deliver a groundbreaking competitive multiplayer mode, where everything is physical thanks to the Microsoft Cloud. Harness 20 times the power of your Xbox One to unleash 100 percent destructible environments for the first time ever in gaming and create your own explosive stories in the process."

20x the power?
So from their maths the Xbox one by itself is capable of only handling 5% of a city's destruction :-)
The first Crackdown was a lot of fun, destructible environments sound neat.
I still think the first Crackdown did a trick that only really worked once, the joy in collecting orbs to be able to jump and climb higher to collect more orbs and so on. Starting again in 2 was never as much fun and it won't be in 3 either.
Yeah, 2 didn't really add anything. The first one was a superb game at the time.

Don't think I'll be buying an Xbone for this.

Here's a video of the multiplayer "cloud" processing power demo thing.

It's basically just some guy blowing the shit out of some buildings and making them topple over. It looks pretty darn impressive.
That does look fucking amazing.

Reviews are coming out...oh dear.
Yeah... shame, I was looking forward to this based if the original video I saw but it seems the finished product is nothing like that.

I’ll get it via Gamepass so I may give it a go but, colour me disappointed.
It's very annoying that I can't justify an XB1X at all really. It would be a great addition to the office upstairs, but I can't think of a single true exclusive I must play and they're still £380. My base PS4 just doesn't cut the mustard with new games anymore. Not surprising considering it's age, though.
Really? I've not noticed any real difference, and I have a PS4 Pro and a PS4 Amateur so you'd think I would.

What games do you see it on?

I’ll admit I haven’t seen the issue in person and that it’s theoretical because I read all the performance comparisons and have been put off buying games because of the sluggishness of the base consoles.

For example, Apex Legends: Eurogamer said that the base XB1 and PS4 struggle quite a bit. Apex Legends has a variable resolution to ensure it locks to 60fps and can go down to 720p at busy moments. When I can play it in ultrawide at 1440p on PC it’s a no-brainer.

Sal likes to watch TV or use the Switch downstairs and we use the PS4 as a Blu-day/Netflix device so I wouldn’t want to move it upstairs anyway, which is why I thought of getting an upgraded Xbox, but it seems it’s not worth it.
Played for a couple of hours this morning...it's more Crackdown and it's more Crackdown 1 rather than 2. Definitely worth a one month sub to Gamepass to play it, which is what I'm doing.
Best Crackdown game is Saints Row 4.
Finished the single player yesterday, excellent fun while it lasted. Much like the Just Cause games it relishes being all video gamey and not pretending to be high art (I'm looking at you Red Dead Redemption 2).

I don't recall anyone saying "skills for kills, agent" in SR4 so nope.
To be fair though, you can beat someone to death with a jelly dong which has to count for something.

I can’t see my house from Saints Row.

Sure, but less than the glorious transforming upgrade animations when you get in an Agency vehicle in Crackdown.

Some animator or game designer made the decision to always go through all the distinct upgrade states after you'd fully levelled up. That person is a genius.
You don't get to have opinions on Saints Row.

EDIT - Myp, that is.
Saints Row IV still has the best opening sequence of any game, and possibly any form of media.

I played the first two. They were dog shit.

I contend, sirrah, that in actual fact and contrary to your stated opinion, it is in fact you who is dog shit.

So you think they were fine and good games with no game-breaking bugs at all
Not my fault you played a game with a famously shit typewriter port on your typewriter like a silly person.

That famous typewriter the Xbox 360.
Oh. For some reason I was convinced you played 2 on PC. Well you're just wrong then.

Every time we played it, the game would crash just before the end of a mission so wouldn’t save our progress. So I gave up with it and played something less janky.

It didn’t help that it used the exact same map as the first game, which I believe you never played.
I want to like them. I really do. There's a Dubstep gun, FFS! SR4 has the best opening of all time!

But I just don't.

Boom! Time to close the forum, it doesn’t get any more righteous than this.
I loved the dub step gun and would put that at the top of my 'favourite weapons in games' list.. If I had such a thing.

I don't think he played 2, and you never played 3 or 4, so...
I played them all.
I done played none.

One of them -- 3 or 4, I think -- I played a little of in co-op with Meaty. It was a minigame that consisted of something along the lines of beating a prostitute until she fell over while dodging bouncers and then picking her up and throwing her over a wall. The game obviously thought this was a killer wheeze and was very pleased with itself. However, in addition to being in highly questionable taste, I found it was dull as fuck. Which is pretty much what I thought of the rest of it, too. Crammed full of so much edgelord bullshit they had to leave out the actual game.
This just keeps getting better and better!

better than Mr Toots?

Six days after release and it's selling on eBay for less than £32. Ouch.

Never mind... Xbox users can console themselves with 4 new backwards compatible titles.

Quote:
All three of the mainline Lost Planet games--Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Lost Planet 2, and Lost Planet 3--are now backwards compatible, as is the gold edition of the first game, titled Lost Planet: Colonies. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, an extended cut version of a game that originally released on Dreamcast, is also now backwards compatible.
