Oh dear, look what I've gone and done...
Fucking hell, isn't that like £130 worth of shit kit?
I think it makes the import look cheap.
£99 quid + a "free" Dark Souls comic.
Big statue guy with swords (25cm tall), 3 patches, comic, steel book containing the game and soundtrack, that cloth thing and an art book which, I'll be honest, is lush as fuck.
That's not even the most ludicrous version, the 'Prestige Edition' is bulging with tat and cost $800.

Lave is swearing a lot.
Right, should speak your comments to me now.

That can't possibly be a bad idea.

I'm sure we could be creative
"Thuck" does the trick :)
How come I could see him? Is that the PlayStation camera?
I assume so (a vision of Lave loveliness)
Aye, its the playstation camera.

I picked one up for £30 in prep for VR.

Just spent ten minutes wasting time because it wouldn't let me press x against a bonfire. Now back on track.

Heh. Seeing the thumbnail on phone at work I thought you meant the fodder on the cliffside.

Meanwhile, It's really damn strange seeing it in English. Not least when you reach

Firelink shrine. Which is not exactly a direct translation.
welp...here we go...
Got enough rags to cover my body, found a sword and a 100% shield. I feel complete again.

Glad I started with nothing, made it feel more dark soulsy.
Bugger me. You know that bit in the bloodborne DLC where you get utterly buggered down a well?

Yeah. That... that was childsplay. Comparatively.
Did the first boss, had a wander round the High Wall of Lothric. It's a very pretty game.
Ok, so giving up on that area until this new arsehole I have acquired has stopped hurting. So go the other way and, oh, look, a third arsehole. How very nice of you.

Finally fight my way through that and

Yeah, This areas pretty cool.

My wanderings
Also... the first boss is hard... I mean, Souls game. But compared to the Asylum Demon or Last Giant...
I found him easier than the asylum demon, phalanx or the cleric beast.

Although I did have appropriately scaled firey death at that point.
A question for those playing DS3.

I've tried and failed to get into Dark Souls several times. My most recent attempt was aborted because it felt like a juddery mess on the 360, having grown used to playing smoother PS4 games.

But I'd still like to experience it. I feel like I'm missing out. So! Reading reviews of DS3, the primary criticism appears to be more of the same, and a diminishing sense of wonder. Given I haven't really played Dark Souls, would I be best off simply playing DS3 and being done with it? Given I'm an ignoramus, primed for wonder?

Or should I man up and just plough on with Dark Souls 1?
Mmm, I'd say the difficulty is perhaps crafted with experienced players in mind.

I'm certainly of the thought that rattling souls 1 is the best starting point, but I'm not one to care much about frame rates.
I started Dark Souls on PC the other night. Killed the Asylum Demon first time with my deprived character! Easy.

That was my worry, thank you.

I'm not usually one for frame rates either, but it felt really jarring and made me a little queasy.

May try and get DaS cheap on PC, see if it's any better.
It might be worth seeing what other people think once they've played more of it. I suspect I rather screwed I up my character progression, which doesn't help matters, (and I haven't found any dark souls 2 like respec option) but the later game seems harder than any other souls game I've played. (although they usually had some patches which made it easier by the time I played. No randy dragon arses for me.)
Start on Bloodbourne, maybe?

Ugh
It just didn't click at all. DaS seems better so far.

It took a while to click for me. The dark Victorian gothic setting appealed much less than varied crumbling ruins.

Having said that, it was really only after the first non tutorial boss that Dark Souls clicked.

Meanwhile, on DS3, I keep going back to old areas and finding new stuff, which is good (exploration is awesomes) although I've not found anything yet that would've been massively useful at the time. (although when I finally found the way to use boss soils...)
Bored at work? Well I'm back on, being shit.

15 tips on DS3 - one of them is that the co-op stuff is much much easier to do - since there are a lot of us playing it right now if anyone wants to co-op it then it looks like its just a case of setting a password and then summoning

Fucked that tree! Thanks to healing my tits! Damn doorbell stopped me basking in the glory.

Thanks to Grim and Mr Dave for the moral support there. Christ I'm shit. And to think I beat all of dark souls 1 and bloodborne without co-op....

Shame you don't have the videos being automatically archived. Would be interested to see what I missed.

The tree aint easy, hard to read with limited weak spots, and the weak point most vulnerable to damage (the hand) moves around so quickly that a slower weapon such as the halberd doesn't work so well. Probably the best way to do it is to bait the stand up attack and attack it before it recovers from that (about 3:35 in my video, although I get kicked in the face about the time that I notice it's a decent opening). Which I only realised on my last attempt. and then never used because I beat the damn thing. (this post

I did have a more upgraded weapon too, and more estus having completely ignored the tree boss due to shying away from the arrow area when I first got to it. He is, I believe, completely optional.

Get that whip upgraded, stat.
I haven't even encountered the first 'proper' boss yet.

I did rescue thief bloke though! And beat a couple of knights! And got a better shield and stuff.
Oh, and a small thing about controls that could be useful to those who haven't found it:

Holding the down button on the dpad quick changes to the first item on your quick bar (Usually the estus) Similarly holding up takes you to your first spell, I think (I only have two slots so can't be sure).

Alas, the same doesn't apply to left and right.
Whip! Whip! Whip! Whip!

Fantastic advice. My level of thought was far more simple. Which is why I kept dying. I always over extend myself.

Grim's whip play through will be my most watched show of 2016.
I met naughty Dog Boy last night. I nearly beat him too. Nearly.

I also met Slashy McButthole off to the left of the Firelink Shrine. I beat him fair and square.
