Better Call Saul
's all good, man.

Ian doesn't like it. Means it's good. This never fails.

Yeah Satsuma that's whack bro.
New season has started and in the tradition of glib BEEX comments “I thought it was good”.
“That’s a man fucking a horse”

Also, good to see Hank back.
Just finished the penultimate episode of the latest series...honestly this is the best show on at the moment and probably has now surpassed Breaking Bad. After last weeks pew, pew, pew this one was much quieter while amping up the tension. Brilliant stuff and outstanding work by all involved.
I’m loving the Jimmy/Kim stuff as always. The Mike/Gus arc is just so dull.
What???? Gus and Mike are brilliant.
So dull. We know none of them die. We know the laundromat gets built. There’s no tension or danger at all.

I’m so excited to find out what happens to Kim.

+1
I just started Season 5 last night as i wanted it all to be available when I started (which I think it nearly is now). There was the usual trying to remember what happened at the end of the last season, and the strange Cinnabon stuff, but very quickly its tendrils had wrapped themselves around me and I was utterly entranced again.

I agree with the above, I think on a rewatch of Breaking Bad, it might be Better Call Saul that comes out on top. Not sure.
It’s fine, we all like different things about it. Some like the cleverness and audacity of Jimmy and Kim’s schemes and their complicated relationship; others like Mike being a geriatric meathead
I like it. It’s good.
I've done six episodes and I'm liking it well enough but it's gone a little bit soap opera-esque in the last two episodes and fuck me they're taking their time with it, and with the best will in the world a couple of the cast members look like they could pop their clogs at any moment. (And indeed one of them actually has, so he won't be in Season 6.)

I honestly think they need to get this one wrapped up so it can segue into the world of Breaking Bad.

Apparently Season Six is next year and that will be the last one, so let's hope everyone lives long enough.

Oh yes and whilst I'm prepared to suspend disbelief on the increasingly old Mike, despite the fact this is supposed to be a prequel to BB, the man really looks like he just wants to have a nap most of the time.
Gah! I misjudged things and now I'm right up to date and have to wait for a new episode to land.

I felt episodes 5 and 6 were a shade on the weak side (by BCS standards, i.e. still very good), but 7, 8 and 9 were stellar.

I'll tell you who's a fucking good character, Lalo Salamanca, so well written and so perfectly acted by Tony Dalton, he's emerged as one of my favourite characters this season.

Rhea Seehorn continues to make me 'see the horn'.
Dalton looks like he’s having all the fun in the world playing Lalo.
Great season.Even got me rooting for ‘the bad guy’ (Or one of them at least) in the last ep. Plus Nacho is the new Jesse.
Oh man, I need more!
It's going to be ages. I hope they're keeping Mike safe in a hermetically sealed room somewhere.
Lalo is fucking bad ass.
It's an intriguing setup up for the final creation of Saul Goodman, and we know that Kim needs to be off the scene before Breaking Bad starts.

I'm wondering if Jimmy gazumps Kim's plan to fuck Howard over, to save Kim from destroying a part of herself, as Jimmy knows what the price you pay personally for shit like that is.

Seems to be the same with all the Cartel people, like they give off this either stiff pencil pusher look, or drunk and seemingly no idea how they got there, but when it matters they turn on bad ass mode and just kill everyone.
I just caught up on the last few episodes of this. Jesus wept. The final season is going to be incredible.
So is no one watching the new series? More excellent stuff including a call back to the first series.

...I am convinced Kim will end up as the Cartel's lawyer...she's is continuing to be the 'naughty' one.
It’s incredible, one of my favourite shows ever.
I am waiting until they're all up so I can binge them in a few days, waiting a week for each episode in previous seasons has been too painful.

That's what my eldest son said, and then he watched episode 3 before me!
Don't read this if you're not up to date with the series

I'm really concerned for Kim actually, now we've seen what's happened to Nacho, I thought it would be a miracle if they both got out alive, but now I'm doubting either will.
I didn't get on with Breaking Bad at all, just didn't get into it and gave up early. Is there any value in giving BCS a go?
We loved breaking bad and stopped watching this in like season 2 because it was relentlessly tedious

If it's finished-finished now might find it another go as the few things we're on are weekly drops what is this television ffs? Ooh, no, Ozark season 4 part 2 drops today, that's another binge. But then maybe another crack at this.
Such wrongness! You’ll summon Kissyfur if you continue with these posts.

I think this is much better than Breaking Bad, which I really enjoyed. I think the protagonists are much more likeable. The stories are really well done, and whilst it is clearly in the same universe and a prequal (but with significant older actors that you won't have to worry about, after not seeing it). As such the references are really just Easter Eggs/Fan Service and you can watch this without worrying about that bigger picture (although the occasional flash forwards at the start/end of seasons will make less sense).

So yeah, give it a go, I mean unless you really didn't like the style of Breaking Bad or something, because this is more of the same, with amazingly beautiful establishing shots and set in the same location, with the same background Cartel stuff. But the emphasis is on the rise of Saul and how he got there, rather than the fall of Walter.
I've tried to watch this twice now and given up before the end of episode 2. I don't have the stamina to stick with it, like I did with Breaking Bad. I think this is more to do with my current mental state than the quality of the programme.
Mid series finale...oh my word.

Absolutely gripping stuff.
It’s back.

Goddayyum it’s good. Mind you, that could have been a finale episode and I’d probably have been very satisfied. I’m not sure what these last episodes are going to do…and I freakin’ love that!

We've gone back to it and are enjoying it much more - it's still been acting as the filler between other things like The Boys and Stranger Things, but enjoyable filler.

Clearly I just needed the correct motivation.
Good stuff! Glad you had another try.

Last half of last season now… cor!

…but then what will fill the void?
We're into season 6, 3 or so episodes in. In this episode

nacho shot himself in the head. We're both baffled because we're both sure he was in breaking bad!
I loved the detail that:

the pictures from Howard's memorial were apparently just pictures from the actor's own Instagram.
Such a great episode which, again, felt like another last episode. I’m really confused where this is actually going to end up. I just wonder if they’re going to come back to Saul working in the restaurant from the earlier seasons that were ditched at some point.

Wild card theory from me: Saul dies in the future when something catches up with him. But really who knows.
If anyone else is wondering who that guy was, like I was…

It was Jeff.

But it wasn’t.

They recast Jeff.
Great episode again, love how they mix things up like that.

Held my breath for a while there towards the end!
I enjoyed it, but it was a bit of a weird choice when there are only 3 episodes to go!

They had to tie up the Omaha thread somehow, however, I am not entirely sure they are fully done with it. Jeff is surely going to want more and try his luck, I wouldn't be surprised if we returned to Omaha in the final 10 minutes or so of the last episode.
Well, that was superb.

Possibly the best TV series made, for me.

A few eps off the end but hard to disagree. I am a sucker for the wire but they fucked the last series. Haven't seen a story drawn out over a series so artfully and thoughtfully like BCS.
Kov is late to the party... on season 1 episode 4. I have a lot of catching up to do..
