Well, do you?

People that whine that they have two (or more) things with their chips should berate themselves for not being able to pick the most important. Folk that don't specifically have fish and chips a) what's wrong with you, and b) I'm sure you can work out an alternative.

Obviously salt and vinegar is a given.
How the actual shitting fuck have you just done a fish an chips condiment poll and not put tartar sauce on the list. You fucking useless imbecile.
D'uh - Gravy.

But I can't eat fish. But chippy chips should come with gravy :)
POLL FAIL part the second.

Where's this?...

The venom here is wonderful.
venom with chips?

Well I voted tomato sauce. Because that fucking useless imbecile also missed venom off the list.
he also missed salt and/or vinegar!

That was probably on purpose.
CHRISTMAS IS FUCKING RUINED.
This thread shows several things:
1) The 'right' way to have Fish and chips appears to be drowning in Crasters tears.
2) I now want Fish and Chips.
3) There is no convenient fish and chips shop near me.
4) Bastards
Usually mayo, but I've been really fancying fish 'n' chips with curry sauce all day.
Never on the beach.

Genuine LOL
This is amazeballs.

That's a given. Again.
I once accidentally put tomato sauce on a portion of chips that had curry sauce on them.

It was delicious, and I now make a point of doing that every time I have curry sauce and chips.
No. I don't like fish.

But which one did you vote for?

(I was waiting for your answer to this :DD )
I put tomato because it is the largest quantity of condiment that i use. However my (sausage) and chips usually gets tomato, BBQ, mayo, chilli, curry and sometimes gravy if I'm feeling decadent.
Sausage and chips isn't fish and chips, Wookie.

MY LIFE IS RIDDLED WITH INCOMPETENTS.
Yeah, I used incompetent as a noun. What? Fuck you.
What are you supposed to do if you normally prefer them without surplus condiments, but occasionally you might want a spot of ketchup or curry sauce?
I used a noun once. Bloody charged me well over the odds for what little work was done. I only want a service. Fuckers were all like "I think you need extended warranty and stuff". Did I fuck. Twaz brand new. I brought three of them and it would have cost me a packet. Mind you, they weren't in best nick. I don't care about second hand. Third hand, maybe. Fourth, yeah. But they looked robust enough. Anyway, long story short, I had to visit the hospital to have one removed. Good old NHS. Didn't say a word to my missus at the time. Ho-ho. Bit embarrassing really. But I really like them. They felt great. One after another. I don't know what a noun is.

I'm afraid you have to remove one of your fingers with a mandolin slicer.

Why would you have a device for slicing mandolins?
They're too big to swallow whole.
Just salt and Vinegar, will maybe have a pickled onion once in a while.
Mayo with Fish and Chips?! What the fucking FUCK!
Salad cream?!!!

Fucking SALAD CREAM?!

To be fair, I was thinking of sausage and chips, and by sausage I mean veggie sausage. So Gravy.

Be decadent, Wookie. Gravy is the way forward.

Salt and vinegar, obviously, but that is really part of the chip.
Ahhh but the true question is Salt before Vinegar or Vinegar before Salt?

Vinegar first, or you're washing the salt off.
Salt first, otherwise it just sticks only to the vinegary top layer.
Two people have said chilli sauce. ON FISH AND CHIPS
Chilli sauce is fine on chips alone. I don't know if it goes with fish before (don't remember fish).

Everything goes with chips. Stop defending these people.

Add extra salt as you work your way down the pile?
Can't we all just get along?!!11

My workmate gets chips for lunch everyday and mixes up a big concoction of one part mayo and one part ketchup. It looks rank.

Oh yes, I do that, too.
Fish and chips with gravy is just wrong. How can anyone in their right mind have gravy on their fish?

Id normally go for curry sauce but equally happy with tartare sauce.

Any true Manx man would only ever order chips, cheese and gravy tho as anything else is just treacherous.
Some of you people are truly weird, but I'll put you right.

Mushy peas are pretty much essential. Tomato sauce is acceptable. Salad cream is also acceptable, as it's more or less the same as tartare sauce, if you can't get it. And it's also obvious that if you put the salt on before the vinegar, the salt just gets washed off, as has been said by m'learned colleague. Although bizarre, it is also acceptable to have them without salt and/or vinegar.

The one thing many of you won't know is that the best chips on the planet are obtained from The Baths Supperbar in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, but their chicken kebabs have really gone down the nick since George sold out to the current owners, about 10 years ago.
You're all bizarre. It's tartar, mushy peas (mint sauce optional) and ketchup for the chips.
