If they actually get the job done £46.2m would probably be a bit of a bargain.

[edit] I looked it up, what they're doing now (ie. not enough) is costing £120m!
Vince Cable will stand down as Lib Dem leader in May. I'd quite forgotten he was their leader.

I'd forgotten the lib Dems.
This is actually a really interesting defamation case for lawyers. I can’t wait to read the Judgement.
As much as I'd be copacetic with Campbell's off the cuff nastiness on social media catching up with him, this specific charge feels like a stretch to me.
It's very clearly not homophobic. What I don't know is how well that translates into a 25 grand call for defamation damages.

Because he's a money grubbing mercenary?
Maybe he would accept the winnings at a rate of £2 per month.
When did he lose the flattop?
I'd still prefer something involving a chemical fire tbf

The BBC person live tweeting the trial
Sounds like it's going well

Quote:
Mr Dunlop reads our previous tweets from Mr Campbell saying David Mundell “looks like a tramp” and a “sack of turds”; aren’t these abusive, he asks? Mr Campbell says he can’t remember the detail or context from the time, he’s sent up to 400,000 tweets over the years

Mr Dunlop reads more Wings tweets calling Ruth Davidson a “dribblewit” and a “mouth-breathing dolt”; doesn’t Mr Campbell agree these are abusive tweets? “They’re rude”, Mr Campbell says - they were “provoked”.

Mr Dunlop reads another Wings tweet about his Bath MP, saying “die you c**t”. Isn’t this “abusive”? Mr Campbell says the tweet is “extremely angry”. He says the tweet is a “justified response in context” - he disagrees with Mr Dunlop that this is abusive.
Quote:
Just in case things weren’t contentious enough, the court is now getting into whether Mr Campbell thinks Chelsea Manning is a woman or not. Mr Dunlop says if Mr Campbell is entitled to the view that Chelsea Manning is a man, aren’t others entitled to the view that CM is a woman?

Mr Campbell says “if I proclaim I’m Napoleon, am I? If I proclaim I’m black, am I?” He says people “should be allowed to live their lives however they want”, but he objects to “people ordering me” to say something he doesn’t believe is true - that Chelsea Manning is a woman.
...
Back to the video game comment about “girls and homosexuals”, which was mentioned earlier; Mr Dunlop says this was “demeaning and offensive”. Mr Campbell says he was writing “ironically and satirically”, and would have been understood to be by any reader of that site at the time

He really is an Oscar Wilde for our time.
I can't believe he's still at it. I'm amazed he hasn't become tired of it. I mean, how hard must it be to stay that angry for that long?

Superb.
He’s gone very badly wrong. I’ll never forget that Sensible Soccer review, but he’s basically dead to me now.
Have they brought up his tweets/rants about Hillsborough yet? They usually get an airing when people are discussing how much of an arse he is.
Holy crap, this sounds like the best trial ever. Do we know how many days it’s listed for? Perhaps we could organise a car pool to go along for the remainder.
I think it's fascinating how he's willing to stand by his every word. I think he's an intelligent guy, I don't think there's any doubt about that, but he's so misaligned.

It has wrapped up for today and will continue tomorrow

Is this going to be known as "the excuse given in Wings v Dugdale (2019)"?
Christ he's such a complete cunt.
I could be more eloquent than that but he really doesn't warrant the minuscule effort it would take.
If he loses and ends up on the hook for costs, reckon he'll launch a crowdfunding campaign to cover it?

Not exactly a massive claim to fame.

Well yes. Although he's likely got enough already from credulous fools. Unless he's spent it all on Vimto and rat hookers.

He's also Scotland's most prominent cock*

The page for WoS's last fundraiser are quite thick with a narrative that "the establishment are trying to shut me down and only you can save freedom" that feels very Trumpian to me. Just a few millimetres away from the kind of Deep State posturing you see from QAnon true believers.

Was he riding a horse and wearing woad too?

I think you're sticking fag paper between them there. I think he realised he is just bright enough to manipulate the idiots to make a living, and the pro-independence movement gave him the venue to do it. I think he's worse than Trump, because he knows exactly what he's doing. Whereas Trump is basically a brain stem in an ill fitting suit.

That was vile. No other words to describe it.

It's not the fact that he has no filter, it's what his brain thinks up before he even opens his trap.

I have bad and angry thoughts sometimes but they are never nasty like that. And besides I take 3 lots of brain meds to prevent it.
Just think if we'd all just have buckled down and handed over £2 a month it would all have turned out so different

I applaud your cromulent use of 'copacetic,' a word to which I had hitherto been unfamiliar.

Probably because it’s an Americanism.

In that case, it's rubbish and how dare you use it here?

I have no problem with it, just pointing out why he probably hadn’t heard it before.
Exactly what a racist would say. I bet some of your best friends are Americans, right?

Campbell is officially "not funny at all" according to his own lawyer. There's a quote for the ages.
