I ARE PLAY THIS.

It's both annoying and amazing that in the interim between its first mention here and now, the game has become one of the most famous and arguably influential ever.

Are people still playing this here?

I punched a cow and then I found a little watery cave and killed a flower. Dunno how to make a better digging tool, but I'll find out sooner or later.

This game is really pretty.

Played the BeexLand server for ages until I was too busy/distracted by non-game timesinks, came back and by then the server had disappeared. :'( Still, I did enjoy myself immensely whilst it all last.

Still no tools. I've made a little bridge, though, and learned to block up my mine with a mound of dirt at night. I like the way you'll find the odd bit of myterious stuff lying around here and there in the morning, it's a little spooky.

You won't find out how to make tools by playing the game :0)

There's a guide in the first post.

What? My old PC couldn't hack this as it needed to be online to get installed. :(

I found a big natural alcove that was a lot shallower than I expected. So, rather than dig into it, I made a big wooden statue of a man. Then night fell and I realised I was lost, and could hear groaning and hissing noises :'(

Good thing I had loads of gravel. Just enough to make a mound of it that should block me from view while I work. Eee!

Try running away rather than telling us.

And making a sword.

I don't have any metal, just wood and dirt and some dead animals.

I don't have a spade, I've been hitting things with flint, it doesn't make any difference, but seems the most appropriate. I have wooden planks, but that's about all I've figured out.

Edit: I made a stick! CAVEMAN!

And a table! Yaaaay! Right, fuckin' spider-thing is gonna dah.

You'll need to make a wooden construction box first, then you can make wooden tools with that.

I lost my wooden statue of a man :(

Ended up digging quarry in a valley, now I'm stockpiling coal. I made a bow but can't work out arrows (tried feather, stick and stone/gravel/cobbles/iron, but no luck), so am doing some digging instead. Built a chest for my spare tools and fuel, and a big refuse pit. THen I dug into a little underground river, and came up to the surface to get food and wood. When I came back down, a big green thing came running up the stairs at me and EXPLODED WHAT IN FUCK :'(

Blocked the cavern up now, and am digging.

What does the hoe do? I thought maybe I could farm, but it just seems to dig, which a shovel does better.

Do you want answers to questions implied such as "How do I make arrows"?

Hoe? Pretty useless when I last played it. Particulary in MP. Try using it on grass on the surface.

No thanks, I'm still having fun pissing about, so unless it drives me mental it won't be necessary. :)

The hoe just seems to dig, even on grass. Oh well!

Just found gold, 'redstone' (the rock looked like it was bleeding, which kind of freaked me out a bit), and now diamond! Score!

It should make furrows and potentially seeds. May require using the other mouse button or something.

Oh no! I just made a lovely sky-field with a big wooden staircase, so I could try growing some flowers or something. Then after a good day's work digging a little moat, it got dark, so I went back down to my mine/workshop/bedroom, sealed the entrance (with a little window so I can see when it's light), and wondered how much water would come out of the bucket I'd filled but forgotten about.

Cue infinite waterfall at the very top of my underrgound lair :(

Just put a block of soil over the spot where you put the bucket and it'll stop.

I've put the backup beexworld on my server - badgerbadger (d0t) no-ip (d0t) biz

Give it a try, if it works at all with multiple users we can set the maximum to 2 or 3 or whatever works.

Thanks for trying it cookie, glad it works :)

It's running on an old iMac which is my home server, but it's just on a domestic ADSL which will be the weak point.
If it's usable then I'll install the kits and mods and stuff. Dunno what canary is.

The old server ran on the server mod Hmod (thats what gave it the warps and /home)
on of my earlier posts on the previous page says that Hey0 wont update Hmod anymore
So now Canary has been created, canary is basically hmod, except better, it is made by the same people who worked on hmod with hey0

It would be a good idea to use it, instead of 1) unofficaial hmod 2)Bukkit <God help us 3)Vanilla

link to forum: (you'll need to find the download :P ) CanaryMod

it's only on Build1 so it's not very far yet, but it's better then almost all other mods

Eee! I have a few things to do now :(

Will try to have a go later. I began work on a project last night, not unlike the hall of Grim.... It looks like taking a while, though. I also did a mini-project to experiment (ongoing)with farming, though the underside needs tidying up:

SKY FARM!

My lair is quite deep, and the entrance is a massive staircase. I got flooded down a long way :( Managed to struggle up to the top though, and picked it up with a bucket. I didn't realise they acted as magical springs. Kind of like it though.

Minecraft!

Done! I'm playing now! That was surprisingly easy. Thanks! I am happy to chip in significant amounts to server-ness at least for a month, if others are up for this. Just tell me where to send it.

Gonna explore now. Is dark and pretty. Also cold. I spawned over a lake with a skellington behind me >:| :DD

Found the Dimrill memorial :'(

I tried to build a home in the desert and got caught out at ngiht after a supply run, then lost my way and died. Not seen the death screen before. All that wood, wasted. Sad.

I can't get the chests to work, oddly, but the tables work so that's alright. Now I seem to have stumbled into an Escher painting.

I'm so sad that I missed all this :(

FUCK

FUCKING SKELLIES >:(

I had iron tools, weapons and a bow, and laods of fuel. And I went out at dawn and was chased off by a greenie, then a spider, then I got backed into a corner by a skellie, so while I was trying to shoot the greenie, I got killed by the skellie. Bastards >:(

I have tried many graphical mods with Minecraft, but none I like as much as the original vanilla look. Funny that.

Now that the land's back up online I'll really have to build something there. Later this week perhaps.

Sinister, your posts on this are making me smile. It really is rather special, isn't it?

Um. Who built the house by the stone dock next to Dimmers' memorial?

Because it er... it's kind of blowy-uppy now. Sorry, a greenie caught me.

Ironically enough, I was working on a panic room - I'm going to try building some primitive mud huts wherever I go out in the open, since there are so many monsters around even in the day - basically always keep at least a few handfuls of dirt on you (or even wood), and if you're in an area I've been in, there should be plenty of places you can run to and block yourself in if you get jumped.

I'll try to make a stockpile of tools and weapons!

Edit: There's enough debris for me to hastily rebuild the house, but it'll be largely earth rather than glass until someone can get the equipment together to repair it. I'm tempted to keep the door with me, but I think it's too risky to carry anything really useful right now.

This could be brilliant fun, guys! We'll have to form little survivalist bands with people out mining and others out delivering supplies, while some of us barricade/rebuild and others with bows keep a lookout.

Re-edit: Okay, the little house by the dock (climb onto the dock, turn left when you see the community chest (which isn't working)) has a workshop and now two chests. One has some stone tools in, and the other whatever else I've picked up - I'm trying to get together feathers and string to make bows and arrows, but it's risky, so I'll be dropping them off rather than carrying them with me. I'm also doing my best to re-forest the grass near the dock to keep us in plenty of wood. Once this area's a little more stocked up, I'll move on to somewhere wilder. I've had to make a few quick and nasty dirt bridges and steps here and there, sorry for de-prettying things but until we get some bows together we'll need to do a lot of panicky running away.

You can get charcoal by burning wood over wood logs in a furnace now - there are several behind the house. Charcoal burns for ages and you only need one piece and lots of wood to kick off a perpetual fuel machine. I'll try to make some more. :D

I seem to have a real talent for accidentally getting your houses blown up  . I'm really sorry.

A couple of panic rooms up. They're simple earthen mounds with a narrow top with a torch in the middle, and one inside. If you're caught short, run inside and cower. The area these are in is friendly enough to take these down now.

I've started every time so far on or in the water next to a stone dock, so have tried to civilise that area a bit, make a beachhead, like. This isn't the beexworld you know; it's more like the single player set in that world. It really feels like a zombie siege in some fallen civilisation, but I've tried to avoid looting your work as much as possible.

I've scraped together some basics and, finally, a couple of bows and arrows, so whoever goes in next should be able to hunt down some spiders and flint (I've not managed to get round to that yet) so we can get enough to arm everyone. If they want to, obv. But I recommend at least a sword if you're going sightseeing. Those greenies are a nightmare without a bow.

Is fun! :D

Heh, I'm liking that you're liking it :)

Hopefully get time to join you and explore the place again soon.

What do we think about just switching the monsters off? Although it sounds like you're having fun with them..

I stopped playing it before because they were turned off. I think it's a big part of the game. Frankly, as long as an un-creepered version of the map continues to exist on disk somewhere, I don't think it's an issue.

Fine! I might extend the "day" period a bit if that's possible though.

As SA says it may be fun to defend "paradise", seeing as it was mostly built in a time before monsters.

I did connect last night but I reckon the server was pretty much maxed with SA's exploits. I only got the chunk that you spawn onto and then infinite space all around. It was quite fascinating looking at the sheer cliffs at the edge of the chunk going down through caves and bedrock.

I'll ask this again... is it possible to run the beexworld map as a single player map? If so, how so?

Ta.

Yup, the world formats are identical. Just save the map into the directory where it saves your SP worlds.

I wasn't expecting the local reactor to melt down though:
