In my case, I've been eagerly awaiting the halloween update. Unfortunately, when the halloween update appeared, it didn't work in multiplayer. So I'm still waiting.

Been playing quite a bit of single player but I have been building today. my obsession is currently very tall things that reach the top of the level, previously it was my huge shaft which went all the way down.

I like this in the changelog. It's like BeexBot has infiltrated the Minecraft development.

He's just released an update - so your client has updated itself, and you won't get on until the server is updated.

What Craster said, "Outdated client" actually means "Outdated server". I'm upgrading it now.

Done.

(This got a lot quicker recently when I did some engineering work on the server, re-arranging where config files live).

Until it was removed from the App Store yesterday you could, for a short while, get what was basically Minecraft for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Only difference was this game was called Minecrafted.

Despite proclamations that Minecrafted was "built without code or content from the original", it looked like Minecraft, played like Minecraft and by all accounts essentially was Minecraft, only without credit or approval from the indie smash hit's creator.

Minecrafted let you play the "free" mode of Minecraft, which lets you wander around an island building stuff. If anyone of you were quick enough to grab it, how did it stack up against the original?

I would've liked to have tried it though. Implementation is everything on the iPhone. Sometimes a similar idea can work well, like CoD: Nazi Zombies and Doom, and sometimes it can be a hideous, unplayable mess, like Duke Nukem 3D.

Whatever, portable Minecraft is a concept that would appeal to me very much indeed.

Yes, but as I understand it they won't pull something for copyright issues during approval - only if someone complains after release. Unless it's Apple's own copyright.

I don't think they conciously put copyright-breaking stuff live, but at the same time, they don't claim to check everything either.

Hi, I'm a ugvm'er and have just discovered Minecraft. Would love to get involved on your server. How would I go about getting access? My username is 'Lufferov'.

I can add you on this evening. You'll probably find it pretty empty at the moment - I'm personally waiting for the big halloween update that was written to actually work on multiplayer servers.

Thanks muchly, I tried to get on earlier and got a "Outdated client!" error. Is this the same server that The Rev was heavily involved with? I'm very new to Minecraft, only installed it this morning :-)

Yes, that's it. Your error is probably more down to actually having a new client than our server is running.

Ooh, this doesn't mean outdated client -- it actually means "outdated server". I'll do an update, hopefully tonight.

And yes, it's the one the Rev's stuff is on.

You joke, but I'm paying £30 a month for a deserted server. I'm probably going to downgrade it soon.

Sorry, I do that.

In all seriousness though, it's your server. It was very generous and excellent of you to set up the server during the initial rush of excitement, but it was never going to say at that level. How underused is it? Could it still be run in a diminished capacity. It'd be a shame to see it go.

Personally speaking, I find it difficult to visit Beexworld for a number of reason, most mundane of which being time availability. It might be worth opening a debate with the former heavy users of the server to see if it's still needed.

Oh, it wouldn't disappear. I'd just downgrade the server spec. It'd no longer be able to cope with half a dozen people at once, and would likely crash every few days with memory problems; I'd put a scripted restart on or something.

I stopped because it was taking up all of my very limited spare time, and I probably would've ended up with no wife left.

In spite of that incentive, I stopped playing anyway.

Instead, you started whoring to an extent that would worry Dimrill, even buying an Achievement Phone so you could whore during those now rare moments away from the 360. ;)

I stopped playing because... Everyone else did. It's a really "social" game, even if you're wandering around building your own solo projects and digging for resources. It's all about the friendly competitiveness and community spirit. Maaan.

Pfft, not only are Dimrill and Blucey racing away from me at an almost exponential rate, I've got that young upstart Alberto catching me up. In fact, the only people around me playing less 360 than me are you and Mr Dave.

That's how I used to imagine BeexWorld developing, i.e. into near-Coruscant levels of land coverage.

Server is out of date again.

Stupid question: the clients can update themselves automatically, how 'bout servers that do it too?

I think the snow is making it look more built up than it really is. Not that it isn't massively developed, natch.

We're all used to looking at the lush, green, verdant fields of Beexworld
