Did you know that if you throw your pick away and pick it back up, all of the wear dissappears? (MP only)

Yep. Nothing annoys me more than when I accidentally let one wear out and break it. Which is weird, because I can easily just summon a new one.

Hi all,

I'd never even heard of these forums, but we share a common bond - That Rev Chap, who sadly passed away last night :(

He was an incredibly popular guy on rllmuk (where I usually post), and a lot of us had followed his posts about Minecraft on his blog inverty.com. Some of us figured that his minecraft creations would be a nice lasting memorial to him (particularly as he'd done things like make a statue for his wife Patience), and were worried that with his sudden absence, they might fall into disrepair or even be destroyed :(

I found this forum after a bit of detective work on his blog, and I'm happy to find that he was at least as much loved and respected here, if not more so, than on rllmuk. So I'm sure his digital legacy is in good hands, and some of his more poignant works will be preserved by you guys.

Thos of us on rllmuk are still planning on recreating some of his works on the rllmuk server, though, so I'd like to ask a favour: if you can offer any help on how to export things from one server to another, or just show some of our guys around should they come visiting, please lend a hand in cataloguing anything that holds his memory :(

I can help with that, and in fact I've had an account registration (under the name DoctorGlyndwr) on rllmuk stuck in "validating" since 9:30 this morning. As soon as it comes into life I'll come over and help out.

I just read this on his blog diary, though it was fitting:

That Rev Chap wrote:
You know how when you build something in Minecraft you can’t see it and then you jump down and turn around and look at your creation and it is either:

a) glorious!

or

b) a bit disappointing?

Today I built an angel.

*EDIT*

It might be taken as being a bit religious but I thought it nice.

I don't know if this is on the server or not. LINK

Can a rllmuk user please PM an admin and ask them to activate my account? I've been waiting since 9:30. The "contact an admin" email address bounces.

Thanks guys.

I have to say, I tend to get comfortable in my little niche and forget that there is a wider internet out there. It warmed my heart to find somewhere else where Owen was so highly thought of.

More places than you know, Pistol. The newsgroup I knew Owen from back in 2000, alt.digitiser, is almost dead now but has an IRC channel (#digi on dal.net) still running. I had to break the news to them last night, and it hit them just as hard as it hit the rest of us.

Hello chaps,

Completely inspired by the tales of wondrous things built by Owen, I've just picked this up and had a go on the single player which has now lost me half a day without me realising. I know I'm a terrible johnny come lately but would like to come and join in the fun, if you don't mind someone who's just managed to build his first stone pickaxe wandering around looking at stuff. Username is mrpsb.

Also, thanks to Craster and Cookie for helping me contain the raging forest fire that I stupidly sparked last night. Oops!

Isn't it being scrapped in the new budget? I mean it's only just been finished and it's on its way out already.
