Then you have the distance from the train station to think about, all houses i'm looking at are within 3 miles, but the St Neots one is half a mile to the station, the Northampton ones around 2 miles and the Bedford ones around 3.

St Neots FTW!

Although, of course, you should just move to South East London like any sensible person.

You could probably get a small cardboard box for your money!

South East London isn't entirely convenient for Mrs T's work though :D

Entertain me, what can you get for around £400k in South East London?
User avatar
where does Mrs T work? Is it on a London train line, you could try St Albans? 400 wouldn't get you much, mind.

A flat in Aragon Tower :(

Is the St Neots house on that new estate out near the road from the A1?
User avatar
She works in Milton Keynes, but not that near the train station. She drives to work, hence the 30 minute MK radius.

Nah, it's this one:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for ... miumA=true

Need to actually go and see it though, to check out parking/garage situation and the local area.

We did have a few shortlisted that were close to the A1, but they were too close in the end, so we binned them.

4 bed semi or end of terrace for 400k in St Albans, it looks like.

You could probably buy one side of a street for that in Bradford.

Delightful! £400k gets a very nice detatched 5 bed round by me, though not as nice as the one Trooper posted which surprised me a little.

Yeah, that's the estate I thought (the A428 is the road off the A1).

It's not a bad-looking estate, but again, St Neots is a bit, um, drab. It's got a cinema now though, at least.

No this one!
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/s6p/29568081

2.5 hours to London!
User avatar
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/s6p/31497600

Or here, but you're bordering on a shitty area of Bradford.
User avatar
You can have my house for £400k. I'll even leave you some games in there if you want?
User avatar
For £400k you can get a nice three-storey 4 bedroom detached in NG5: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for ... 26850.html

Or if you can stretch your budget to £440k you could have a five-bed bungalow with an acre of land: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for ... 84059.html

NG5 isn't particularly cheap for Nottingham either. 2 hours into London driving or 1.75 hours on the train. ;)

Ah, I thought you meant the estate near the river in Little Paxton, which is very close to the A1.

Yeah, not much in St Neots, but it has a pub, and we drive for everything else though anyway. Bedford and Cambridge are both 20 minutes away. Great commute from that place though for me, not so good for Mrs T.

Worth a look, but it's not top of the list.

Bit optimistic. I'd say 3 hours plus, as you're a good 50 mins up the M1 from here.

Yes, just realised you may have been talking about the train. It's sub-two hours from Notts.

If we have two, then where do I put the games room? And the study? And the library? And the wine cellar?

Speaking of wine cellars, this looks good, if I had any appetite for taking on a possible money pit...

It is indeed. Lot of cash for 3 bed though, but it shouldn't lose money if we had to move in a few years time to a bigger place. I think. Maybe.

You think? I can easily see that swallowing £100k. It's a big house, with lots of possible issues, and being sold at auction with a guide price of £300k.
There is something serious wrong with it, I expect.

Regardless, I don't have either £60k or £100k to throw at it either way!

And it could do a few more years if not. It doesn't seem to be a terrible place to have to stay in for slightly longer than expected.

I do , but i also buy them again on other platforms (there are a lot of games in my steam list which i've played / completed on the 360 but i bought them for cheap on the PC in case i ever want to play them again).

So although thats correct for whats on the list there is stuff on there like Dead Rising that i finished on the 360 multiple times but bought so i could still have it when my 360 is no longer around

So they're going straight from pages 2 to 4 now?

And they're replacing topless women with ladies in bikinis - hardly a win, unless you're offended by nipples.

Also, Page 3 isn't the worst thing about the Sun.
