Thanks. It’s been an epic job that needed a rethink half way through with extra cost.

Well worth it though.

Yay, old JC made it into the video for King Of Concrete.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_nGfBXyza8

Around 2 mins my friend Mike does a short interview (blond hair and white glasses) then around 2:20 you will see this big fat bastard on the right with an Ecig. That's me :D

Also after 4 mins you will see me sitting in the stands, with big scars on my arm and leg lol. Kickass :D

Looks great that mate. It'll look better with some paint and solder burns all over the carpet, though.

Cheers. Yeah, it's scarily clean at the moment.

A nice refuge from the rest of the house that looks like Lawrence Lewellyn Bowen is half way through.

After two months of continually calling and pestering environmental services finally called back. Very nice chap as it goes, so nice he is coming today to get the ball rolling (so he can see this shit pit for himself).

Wicked.

I also found a flat for rent locally (like literally 10 secs from here) that has a new kitchen, new bathroom, is in a brilliant place and only costs an extra tenner a month. So I have my fingers crossed on that too. It is about 1/4 of the size of what I have now but I really couldn't give a toss. It's less to clean, less to vacuum and so on.

Two will go to my cousin's kids, two in the loft at mum's leaving me with two. Pretty sure I can handle that..

ES guy came. He said the damp in the kitchen could not possibly be any higher, the meter was maxed out. So he is now going to give her an informal notice, giving her 7 weeks to get in a sparky and make sure the damp is gone and the leccy safe. Then if she doesn't respond or sort it it goes formal (criminal) and then she's really in the shit.

Very nice bloke, so glad that I am pushing this through. It makes me really sick (like, in the head) but at least it will light a fire up her arse. If I move into that flat around the corner it will make no difference. Even if the flat is empty she needs to get rid of the damp because of the leccy. Bonus.

Thanks all, only took three coats of each colour to eliminate the peach and magnolia that was there when we moved in. :'(

Cables are fine, DP. Although I may swap them out for some white cable I have.

My home office/mancave is a similar dark grey. I can't take credit for it though as MrsPaz picks the colours in our house.

Same, although only one wall, as our living/dining/stairs is open plan so if you start painting the other wall you have nowhere to stop until you've done the whole house.

For my office I'm thinking one wall Sapphire Salute and the other walls Polished Pebble. The desk, monitors, and most artwork would be on the Sapphire Salute wall.

For the living room, we were going to do the grey main wall with a chimney breast in something like Lichen but now we're thinking we might get brick slips instead.

Kinda what happened to us with the loft, we had to do the hall / stairs / landing to match the new work... Oh and due to fire regs we had to replace all out internal doors to fire doors, so we had to paint them too. I can still taste gloss paint.

We might do it eventually -- almost the whole house is white right now and it'd be nice to be a little more inventive. But not right away.

The worst offenders are the Farrow & Ball ones I linked to. They all have hipster names. To compound things, they then explain the names.

Quote:
This warm and contemporary grey is renowned for its characterful paint name, originally created by John Fowler, the notable English interior designer. Elephant's Breath reads as an uplifting mid grey with its hint of magenta, but can become almost lilac in the cooler light of west facing rooms. Try offsetting with Charleston Gray and London Clay for an invitingly earthy scheme with more intense accents, or pair with other Contemporary Neutrals such as the softer Strong White for a sense of neutrality and calm.
So I guess blame John Fowler, whoever he is.

Notable for the uproar he caused in his social circle when he came out as 'London Clay'.

No. Oceanitary Grey is much better for an earthy scheme with more intense accents, or even paired with other Contemporary Neutrals.

Those paints don't look cheap.

What's to stop you ordering a tester pot, painting a board, and getting it matched at B&Q?

No. They're also very hard to apply; they use some vintage formula and often take multiple coats. We're not using those actual paints in most places, just the colours.

Not much. Although it doesn't always work. A friend tried to do that with one specific F&B colour and the Dulux trade shop talked him out of it; they said there's subtle tints in it they can't 100% match and also if he ever wanted a touchup paint or more of the same paint for elsewhere in the house they wouldn't be able to guarantee mixing it the same again. He ended up buying a Dulux colour that was just very similar.

Hmmmm.... unless there is a reflective flake in it, or something like that, then that seems like bullshit to me. As I understand it, dulux scan the colour and get a pantone number, then mix that paint using that pantone number. A tint isn't a separate thing, it's just adding white to a colour, to get a new colour. (tint = adding white, shade = adding black, tone = adding white and black.)

I wonder if there is more profit in the pre-mixed retail pots... ;)

I think it is reflective flakes, yes. Like a less extreme version of flip paintjobs on cars. I dunno, I'm getting this second hand. If I try and do the same thing myself I'll see what happens. But there are perfectly good off the shelf Dulux colours I like just as much.

He was in a trade place, not a retail place, and they ended up mixing the paint he wanted anyway.
