I remain sceptical this will be a compelling experience, but Super Mario Run was very good so maybe?

Probably worth noting that the 'before April' in your subtitle, isn't actually this April, but next April. They're certainly giving themselves plenty of time.

Controls wil be the issue. MK all about the shoulder buttons.

That's what I thought about Mario Run though, and they made an excellent game of that.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It didn't grab me. Much rather have full control in Mario games but obviously the devices have limitations

I just hope it's not always online like their other games. Most time I spent playing mobile games is when the power (and thus wifi) goes down.

I became quite obsessed with it. Got all the pink and purple coins but tapped out about halfway through the black coins. Plus I got to the hard limit of 9999 toads in toad rally before they lifted it in an update.

It felt very much like a bonafide Mario game to me.

It totally will be because Nintendo wouldn't be Nintendo if they weren't failing to grasp some aspect of modern technology.

I tried the Mario game but I just can't find it in myself to give a shit about auto-runner games any more no matter how well presented. The entire genre just bores the tits off me and every second I don't have full control of the character just grates massively.

I don't have much more hope for Mario Kart; it'll either have to be some kind of simplified 'auto-driver' to be translated into a properly suitable mobile format or it'll have full controls and they'll then just be shit because touchscreens. Or they'll go down the tilt controls route and it'll just be terrible.

Mario Run was an auto-runner game in that Mario literally ran to the right automatically but it played nothing like Temple Run or its myriad clones. I feel you are doing it a disservice.

I'm not thinking of Temple Run because that would be a really poor comparison in context; I'm thinking of Rayman and it's myriad clones. Which is actually doing the 'myriad clones' a disservice because that concept existed and had been iterated on long before it came along.
