We really want a downstairs loo but I don't think we can fit one in easily without basically rebuilding the house. :(

The whole of the downstairs smells like wet dog. What can we do to get rid of the smell of wet dog?

I'd just open the plug up, dry it out thoroughly, like leave it on a radiator for a day and perhaps spray a bit of WD40 or similar in there.

But we don't know if it's a molded plug, do we? If it is, you have the tricky problem of stripping the wire ends for the new plug if you have to cut the old one off.

I’d be checking for damp and if you find it, I’d be having a word with the surveyor.

Damp you say? Hadn't thought of that.

They did have a massive dog though. It smells of dog.

Yeah it's probably just the carpets then if there are any. You could try getting them cleaned, or hiring a carpet cleaner and doing it yourself.

Bicarbonate of Soda is the only reliable means I know of getting rid of bacterial smells like dog. Not sure how you'd treat carpets — I'd google it if I were you.

There's carpet cleaners that are formulated for getting rid of animal smells. Don't know how effective they are but it's probably worth a shot.

It's ok, the carpet is going for laminate flooring anyway. But the smell lingers in the kitchen and dining room which are already laminate. There are no curtains. :(

It all needs replastering and new wallpaper then?

First off I'd probably just try cleaning it all as thoroughly as possible, get behind the fridge and the cooker, everywhere that might not be obvious. Unless there is damp then I would doubt that the smell is coming from the walls.

Was it empty for a while before you moved in? Ours was and smelt really stale and strange for a while after we moved in. Either it went as we aired it out, or we just got used to it.

Having a bit of a clear out.

Does anyone need a load of mud with bits of bricks in? £2 per bag.

Also a full compost bin that's full of mud £12.

A bag of broken glass GONE

Big rotten table that smells of mushrooms GONE

The guy who lived here before us was a DIY/Gardening cunt.

Oh there is definitely damp as the decking outside is higher than the floor level and forms a bridge to the house. We've just had the damp man round to do some remedial work (we got the cost knocked off the price of the house) but it's not a damp smell, it's a dog smell. And they had a massive dog that roamed everywhere it seems.

This works really well on cat smells, might be worth a shot if there's any specific carpet or whatever that you can pinpoint as having "a smell":

I don't think I could recommend using a Nintendo Switch to try and get rid of soggy dog smells. Surprised that Jem did, to be honest!

Wet dog smell? We should be so lucky!
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
After several months one of our bedrooms still smells of decaying mouses :'( and we've just had a fun week of massive dopey flies and malformed flies appearing from nowhere/everywhere.

Use traps not poison, kids.

We got two new ones within the last two days too. Cute little fuckers, even with the jewellery and the rigor mortis.

Technically correct. Gateway became Somerfield which was bought by the Co-op about ten years ago.

Through that gap is a lake*.

*not really a lake. A three inch deep puddle. 4 feet below floor

Odds and sods and paint needed. Nice to have a table back. MrsA has decreed living room, hall and landing now need doing. Not too keen on washing machine but we'll have a think nor it.

I moved the table.

So far, I'm pleased. When it is 100% done, i'll be relieved.
