It's the guardian's editorial view of her. It says it at the top of the page.

The issue I have with it isn't to do with Swift. It's the insinuations (similarities to Trump), being guilty by association (Country is republican!), the "and people who have saId this got lawsuited". It seems that if someone doesn't pull a Dixie Chicks, then they are right to be denounced. It's wrong.

I have to agree. I couldn't really give two hoots about Taylor Swift, but singling her out in that article seems unnecessary when you could quite easily level the same "accusations" (or insinuations, I suppose) against many artists. A little bit too clickbaity for my liking.

I basically came away from that with "Taylor Swift has white friends and hasn't publically spoken out against the President, how fucking dare she", with a bit of "Any maybe she's a racist but we're fucked if we're going to say that so here's a link".

It's clickbait, basically.

FFS myp. No one remotely suggested it said she was a "literal nazi". If you struggle that much with the use of hyperbole for effect then it's your critical faculties letting the side down here. That or you're going for a masterful level of ironic hypocrisy.

Remember this sign from a while back? No?
Well, to refresh:

Parking behind the CoOp was 20 mins free. Then signs and ANPR appeared, and you had to type car reg in to get 20 free minutes. Many didn't, and were fined as per T&Cs.

Anyhoo, I dropped a note to local counciller and local MP over the signs not being terribly clear. Counciller responded and he had passed it over to MP. So, MP raises the issue in Parliament, and sends me half a dozen letters with copies of his correspondance with the council solicitors, parking ombudsman and other people.

Today, in the local paper reports:
Quote:
THE operator of a controversial car park has been ordered to shut it down and refund thousands of pounds in fines slapped on unsuspecting motorists.

Bradford Council took the dramatic step after receiving a host of complaints about the way private car park company Smart Parking was running the site at Oastler Road, Saltaire.

The authority was able to step in after discovering that the patch of land had never legally been turned into a car park and was still part of the public highway.

But in doing so, the Council has also had to hold its hands up to running the car park illegally itself for more than a decade, and now faces a major refund programme of its own.

http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/n ... ial_fines/

Which is amazing. And has amused me.

So, I think P Davies will do OK in an election, again, as he's shown himself to be looking after community interests, especially as the council is a Labour run one and fingers can be pointed.

EXCITING CAR PARK UPDATE

http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/n ... _launched/

Quote:
Cllr Alex Ross-Shaw, the Council’s executive member for regeneration, planning and transport, said: “We have started negotiations with the company, Saltaire Investments, and we are helping them to clarify the highway status of the land.

“As the car park is still operating illegally, we have also served a notice on the company to remove the car parking equipment from the site.

Not sure if I'm meant to type car reg in anymore or not, but it looks like a proper car park still.

http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/n ... _car_park/

Further plot twist!

Quote:
THE operators of a controversial car park which was ordered to shut down appear to be fighting back.

Private car park company Smart Parking has drawn anger from motorists over the way it has been handing out fines at Oastler Road car park in Saltaire.

The furore prompted Bradford Council to declare the site unlawful and serve a notice ordering the car park to close by November 24.

But in an apparent act of defiance against this notice, the company has now lodged a retrospective planning application for its parking signs, in a move one councillor branded “hilarious”.

Amazing.

Further developments in the Oastler Road Car Park fiasco

Listening to Anne Coulter on the radio this morning was painful. She's horrible but speaks so fast it was hard for Nick Robinson to interrupt with questions. Glad he asked about mass shootings: you could hear her mental contortions as she struggled for a response. Not an interview I'll be listening again to, however.

I don’t even know what to say about that cunt Donald Trump. Every day he hits a new low and keeps digging.

Doesn’t even bother with dog whistles any more, just screams racist diatribes down a megaphone. Says the objective truth doesn’t actually matter because his truth is more important. Openly supports a pedophile. Now openly a fascist and revelling in it. There is no such thing as a moderate Republican any more. It’s insane.

Theresa May needs to rescind the offer of a state visit. Fuck the ‘special relationship’; this is an abusive relationship.

I reckon the government are hoping to stretch this out for so long that he's gone and Mike Pence comes instead. Not sure Mr Pence would want to share a room alone with the Queen, however.

As for the ghastly Mr Trump, I sometimes wonder if we ignore him would he just go away?

Still, to have the PM defending his proposed state visit is a shitty look, IMO. I get the pragmatism of not wanting to damage existing relationships, but it reeks of desperation and only doing it in case it helps with Brexit. Which it won’t.

We've got to keep up the fiction that the invite comes from Mrs Windsor herself.

To be honest, whilst I understand the realpolitik in giving really nasty rulers the golden carriage treatment, it's not something I'm comfortable with and we shouldn't need to roll out the red carpet to such a close ally.

Theresa May to kick Donald Trump firmly in the bollocks.

Following Donald Trump’s hatemongering by way of retweeting Britain First’s anti-Muslim videos, and his petulant reply to Theresa May’s mild rebuke, it’s clear the only response that will make it apparent how offensive his behaviour is to the UK is for the PM to administer a boot in the knackers.

Yes, I think she went as far as she could. The Hugh Grant moment is never going to happen, no matter how much we'd like it to.

Amber Rudd was very good in the Commons yesterday on this too.

GQ covers Corbyn

Quote:
"The actual shoot itself was quite tortuous. It was as difficult as shooting any Hollywood celebrity.

"We've shot many politicians for our cover ... but never have we encountered such a ring. Obviously [Labour director of communications] Seumas Milne and his crew are very particular gate-keepers.

"They didn't really seem to understand the process at all, didn't understand (a) that he would have to be photographed in the first place (b) that he would need to be presentable or that he couldn't just turn up in his anorak.

Keeping evidence that should have been destroyed, of an entirely legal act, from someone who was never charged with a crime, and then keeping that evidence in your personal possession after you leave the service and then leaking it 8 years after the event? That officer must be breaking some laws, surely.

Unexpected mention of the Chartists by my MP in the House on Friday:

Quote:
The idea of equalising the number of constituents predates all of us in this House. The Chartists first suggested it in the people’s charter of 1838, and it is important to read what the charter said. Point 5 of the Chartists’ demands—[Interruption.] This is a working-class movement for political reform—Opposition Members might want to listen. Point 5 refers to equal constituencies, securing the same amount of representation for the same number of electors, instead of allowing less populous constituencies to have as much or more weight than larger ones.

That's reduced my net disapproval of her by a point, but still a long way to go.

Quote:
I am also aware of the marvellous brewery in Hook Norton, which I am ever proud to represent and from which so many hon. Members are pleased to buy wares from time to time. Christmas is coming and it is doing a very good pack.

At this rate she'll have made her score positive by 2068.
