Support is slightly weird, because the ammo (and weapons) you can carry go up as you level, but you also become more ammo efficient as your damage and penetration go up, and skills like Salvo and Tight Choke come along.

No, there's a complicated formula of small percentage chances each time you kill, get headshots, get multikills etc

I mean, we're all hacking/shooting/sploshuning everything like crazy all the time so there's nothing in particular to try and do more of to trigger it, is there?

Certain skills increase it. At L25, the Sharpshooter has a 5% chance of setting it off with every headshot, and there are probably others.

I wonder if I get any bonus as commando for it, although it seems to trigger EVERY FUCKING TIME I'm reloading.

And an escalating multiplier when you haven't had it for a while. Which is why an early funweld often triggers one, as it's a long delay plus a lot of kills.

Went on late last night just as the WIMPs went yawning to Bedford!

Had a super fun time with Rando Calrissians, showing them the power of the Beserker. :metul:

(Only up late as it was taking ages cloning my HD to an SSD)

Got my Support to 25 (Barrage+AA12+Zed Time melts everything!) Got my Commando from 12 to 20 (Hollow Point makes a huge difference to that class), got my Firebug from 4 to 11 (actually realy good fun), even got my Sharpshooter 5 levels, and I don't like SS. (though the SPX makes it almost bearable, and the Railgun is fun. One shot Scrake dropper)

Tried to level Demo, and still don't like it, though.

Had some idiots in the rando games, like a team made up of Commandos (including me) and SWATS and 2 Sharpshooters. Okay, great trash clearing ability, and two Big Zed takedown artists. First Scrake shows up, Sharpshooters pointedly ignore it, run away to clear more trash, I end up trying to kite the mother, die horribly. This went on, with the four trash clearers desperately trying to take down FPs and Scrakes with weight of fire and the Sharps crearing trash. Every round we were losing one or two. Then one of the SWATs gave up on life and we got a 25 Zerker, who owned those big guys, and got Giant Killer, even though he only joined in round 9.

Sounds basically like every game I've had with randos. They tend to just ignore the big zeds and expect everyone else to take care of them, but no, that's how you end up with 3FPs and 2 scrakes beating the shit out of you while the one person on your team who should be able to take out the big ones has run off and is shooting cysts with a pistol.

Maybe I'm insulated a bit from it normally, as I usually play GS and Support, ie generalists who can take out the Big Zeds.

I did have mostly good teams, to be fair.

I was trying out new classes to make a bit of a jump with the double XP, got SS and GS up to 10 now at least. Really need to try firebug and the Riles class.

Some classes definitely need other classes to function. As demo life is a lot more survivable if you hug a firebug.

That's why I don't like demo.

I like blowing the shit out of groups with the M79, like it less so when they get too close and you're pretty much fucked. If there's a Siren in there, doubly so.

Siren's not a problem once you're L15 but yeah, demo needs either buddies or a good escape route

In other news, I quite like the M16 (don't tell Dr Happy-Plank) on Commando as a one round or two round rental after you've got the AK. £300 dosh for an extra ammo pool + grenades. I wouldn't spend very much on ammo for it, hopefully there's a support you can nick some mags and grenades from.

I still skip the AK. Go SA80 -> LMG then sell the SA80 and get the Scar. Seems to work out well for me.

I prefer the AK now I've got used to it. The SA-80 is alright, but I tend to skip it. Generally your AR-15 and 9mm are enough to to get you through enough waves to get the AK. Tbh my final loadout is AK-12 plus a tier 4. Either SCAR-H, Med-AR or maybe LMG (rarely, to be honest)

I just can't get on with the AK, found the SA80 seems to do the job pretty well and can usually get it on wave 2 and it's good for me up until the final round really. The LMG is good for crowd control since the clips are so huge.
