Corbyn's ex spokesman, there.

Heh. Classy! "Thick as pigshit" has a certain ring to it, huh. :D

His competence as a spokesman is entirely compatible and commensurate with his ex-employers' as a would be PM. Great recruiting skills, there.

I commented on twitter that it is a bold statement by someone with a BA in Anthropology and Political science and received a rebuke via DM by someone with a BA in Anthropology and Political science

Gah, that article annoyed me, especially given polling results suggesting it was a factor. Most people aren't single issue voters anyway.

And this whole thing about "x% of remainers respect the outcome" is a sly trick that's starting to grate. I respect the outcome, just as I respect the outcome of the general election or when Parliament passes a crap bill. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it, cease trying to change people's minds, or overturn it.

The problem as far as I can see is that even if say 70% came round to the idea that Brexit is just a terrible idea and wanted the outcome of the referendum overturned the outcry from the other 30% would be more divisive than whatever expensive fudge they eventually do come up with. And it would never, ever go away. The UKIP types would become an even louder and uglier voice than they already are, believing themselves to have had their victory stolen. I just can't see any way back from it.

I'm looking forward to being repeatedly told that the eventual deal is all the fault of Brussels and the EU, rather than, say poor planning on the part of the government.

To some extent, but not entirely. There's still a sizeable number of leave voters who will still be alive even after we're in the ground. Also it would be difficult to predict how public opinion would go if a huge section of the population were more or less dedicating their lives to blaming every bad thing that happens on our continued membership of the EU.

Put it this way, if we were leaving the EU as a result of a referendum do-over then I think I'd probably be even more fucking livid about it than I am now. So imagine every leave-voting tosser with that kind of fire in their belly. The only way we can ever get back to where we were is in twenty years or so.

I'm in Copenhangan for a couple of days for work, last night in the taxi from the aiport the driver pointed out a new shiny tower block

He then went to say the that Denamrk is trying to get "Drs" from the UK into the building and are offering 20 years free rent.

I think he meant that its some sort of EU medical\pharma\research type organsation that we currenly have in the UK as being part of the EU.

We are just going to loose some many of these sorts of things as we move forward with leaving :(

Not aware of one thing we get thats worth having from leaving so far

I can't see how a British Medicines Agency would have much scope to deviate from the positions of the European one, given that Big Pharma would no doubt want to sell the same products in as many markets as possible. The same applies to other regulatory agencies. But hey, loss of influence and knock-on jobs in the sector, but we've taken back control. And the NHS will get all that money. Yay.

In theory EMA move out just at the same time as our lease is up for renewal and their office is nicer and cheaper and better located for me than our current one.

In time I may have discovered one personal benefit from Brexit.

I can honestly say that I've even thought about the colour of my passport until Brexit made it a thing.

Then I thought about it for a couple of seconds and went back to not caring.

Or just Bre-entry.

Anyway, Carney and the BoE seem to be fairly concerned about Brexit. Estimates now investment in 2020 are 20% lower than pre-Brexit forecasts.

Today's Brexit cheer:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... eg-pickers

There are several factors in the Brexit fiasco that point to food insecurity and/or far more expense food. This covers the prospect of crops rotting in the fields (likely to happen this year, and certainly going to happen next year on current trends).

Just finished 'How to lose a referendum' by Jason Farrell and Paul Goldsmith.

I've read Craig Oliver's 'Unleashing Demons' and Tim Shipman's page-turner, 'All out war', both of which centre on the campaign and the immediate past. This book is the first one I've read that attempts to analyse how we got to where we are. It starts all the way back in 1945 and progresses through missed opportunities, poor leadership, and not really selling the idea of Europe to Britain for 70 years to imply an inevitability about the outcome. Much to think and argue about, and recommended once you've read Tim Shipman's book.

I would have been more convinced of tje planning ahead of tje government, this morning, if, when questioned on details of how the the Eire/NI border would work, James Brokenshire had just replied "Wizards. We will do it with wizards".

I cringed watching the news last night when I heard the dreaded term, 'technological solutions'. Was the R4 interview as bad?

As far as I can tell, the current plan is to have our own customs system that's 100% devised for British needs but, by an amazing coincidence, is just the same as what we've got now, apart from being able to make the rules.

And the EU will sign up to this because reasons / stop talking Britain down / BMW is the tail that will wag the entire EU's dog because they have to sell us cars.

So how many did you buy? Two? Three? Brexit demands all patriotic Brits to buy BMWs so the EU won't fuck us over.
