Regular readers will remember that I applied for a grant through my local church for piano lessons. Well, I was successful!

I would have thought that they’d want me to pay for the lessons and then claim it back but no, they’ve just sent me a cheque for £250 along with a nice letter.

My solo album takes another step to completion… it’s only 9 years in the making.

Give me a few weeks and I will. I'm thinking I'll start with Bohemian Rhapsody.

I got the same book for my birthday. I need to make a start on things, perhaps by taking the cover off the keyboard.

You have to cross your hands for the start of BoRap. Go for Moonlight Sonata instead, it's not hard to play and it's awesomesauce.

Noted. I think I'll be alright with crossing my hands. Hopefully my years of drumming might come in handy here.

Not really, this is musicianship.

My last attempt at re-learning the piano resulted in me spending ages repeatedly playing the largo from Dvorak's 'New World' * because it was slow enough for me to fumble around finding the keys without losing time. I've always been able to read the treble clef - it's the bass clef and the co-ordination of both hands I have trouble with.

Is that the one that they've recently discovered should be played twice as fast as believed?

hang on...

I was ready to hate that, but it's incredible!

I'm sure it's more than twice as fast, though. Or a different song to the one I was thinking of.

Wait, isn't that just the third movement? It's meant to be faster.

This is the first movement:

Were you wearing your Malicool tshirt?

Yay - lovely lady at HMRC I spoke to (after automated voice recognition menu system of doom) cancelled the penalty. They'd set me as requiring SA for some random reason and they've reset that properly now, allegedly. We'll see, but that's a relief for the moment.

Got a piece I submitted to an unofficial The Thing art book project selected!

Not shown it anywhere yet, I'll wait until I have the printed copy in my clammy paws before the reveal!

Or maybe get bored waiting and put it in the Stick your thumbs up thread.

Are you sure you haven't or was it a different The Thing piece you did? Definitely seen one of them.
