BORGO BREWING ANNOUNCEMENT!
I have been making 12litres of wort, which then gets boiled down and getting 12 to 14 bottles out at the end of each batch. This was due to only having a 15litre pot to boil stuff in on the hob. Making these batches has taken about 5 hours (2 hours mash and boil, the rest is stuff like straining grain through muslin cloths as a filter). I want more beer, and I want it faster.
I looked into buying a 40litre boiler to boil the wort in and drain it off. These run at about £150. But the, i would need more wort to boil, so I would need a much larger mash tun than my do it all pot. That would be £50 to £80 as I can scavenge loads of stuff from my boxes of bits that might one day prove useful.
Being resourceful/cheap I found out instuctipns on how to make a
mash tun and a
boiler for about £80. The neat part is they have strainers to catch the bits, and can drain from one to the other. There's only a slight bit of taking apart kettles to stick the elemrnts in a bucket and plugging them in to the mains, but that should be ok.
So, Borgo Brewing will soon DOUBLE CAPACITY!
Exciting times.
